Outstanding service! Bill took the time to solve my problem over the phone - thus saving me a service call. He asked me to text him photos of my circuit breakers and he found the problem. read more

Highly recommended, smart great people, thoughtful and explain work. Only reason it's not 5 star is sometimes they won't get back to you and occasionally just no show. read more

The Hyman Electric team did a great job with our basement ceiling and it's light fixtures. The team was quick and created an affordable solution for our ceiling lighting. The partner brought in to do some reconstruction work also did a great job with an affordable approach that was completed expertly. read more

Every step of the process working with Hyman Electric was smooth and professional. The owner kept in constant communication and answered EVERY question I had. The electricians that completed the work arrived on time and were very professional. All work was completed in a timely manner. I look forward to working with them again on more projects. read more

Needed grounding and bonding of gas line. Received quick, professional and responsive service. Also offered good advice on other issues and recommended service provider. Will contact again for other electrical work. read more

They are the best contractors I've ever worked with. They are extremely knowledgeable and supportive, will troubleshoot over the phone (that's how good they are, they have fixed our issues over the phone), their work is impeccable and they are such great people to work with. Will hire over and over again. read more

After a quick phone call to provide context for the electrical issues in my home and sending photos, Bill called me back and helped me troubleshoot over the phone, free of charge. The company easily could have charged me to come and take a look but they were honest, helpful, and saved me time and money. I will 100% contact them for any issues i have in the future. read more

I hired Bill to install a dedicated line for a window AC on the second floor of my house. Before I'd paid him anything, he took the time to look up the house plan and recommend an efficient (and less unsightly) route up the side of the house, when I thought I'd need one going up the back. His team (led by Jeremy) showed up within the expected timeframe, got the job done, and didn't leave a mess. His rates were reasonable. Recommended. read more

I made a Yelp inquiry late in the evening and Bill got back to me quickly the following morning. He read through my inquiry and realized that it was likely an issue that could be resolved over the phone. I called his number and he answered promptly, assessing what happened in detail and provided me with the appropriate troubleshooting instructions. The issue ended up being a minor thing that did not require an in-person visit. I felt a little dumb to have inquired over an insignificant issue but Bill was kind enough to assure me that it was okay to have asked for help. He also offered some tips that I didn't realize before to prevent a bigger problem from happening in the future. I appreciate the time he took to help resolve an issue, regardless of how small. Bill was honest and professional, which is something hard to find in contractors/handymen in my experience. Would highly recommend. read more

Had an issue this week with no power being sent to my dishwasher, and no fuses were tripped. Sent the request through Yelp and Bill soon called me to talk through some troubleshooting steps that worked! I've used them previously for much larger jobs, and I've been very happy each time--this is no different. Thanks, I will call on Hyman Electrical for the next issue that pops up! read more

I hired Bill and his team in early 2023 to update my electric panel and install safe wiring when I converted the lower level of my town home to a small apartment for my mom. They did a fantastic job! I recently had a home inspection and the electrician doing it complimented the quality work they observed. Fast forward 2 years when I came home one evening and had a partial power outage in my home. No circuits were tripped. Neighbor was having a similar problem. It was late on a Sunday evening (on a holiday no less) but I texted Bill and asked if he could line up a crew to come out first thing in the morning. 5 minutes later, Bill called and guided me through a series of questions and checks I could perform safely at home which led to a diagnosis that the problem was a faulty line that Pepco would be responsible for. He coached me on how to file a report and get them to respond that night due to safety concerns. It worked like a charm! The power company came out and my problem was addressed. Bill and his people go above and beyond for their customers. I can't recommend them highly enough! Hire Hyman Electric and you will get long term high quality service and support! read more

They were very timely in scheduling and very responsive over text. The crew was respectful and very helpful.

If you're the type of customer that wants different options and to learn more about your house and the systems in it, Bill and Jeremy are both incredibly responsive and patient. This is my third house and third panel replacement (because it's an often neglected component of a house) and second heavy up. In this case, we had 200 amp service with a sub-panel and both were overloaded. After discussion, we decided to do a heavy up to 400 amp service and split the main panel into two to create room, replace outdated/out of compliance breakers, and spread the load. We had previously had issues with some of the breakers, so it wasn't a surprise to hear that many were out of compliance and should be replaced. The heavy up went smoothly on Hyman Electric's side (we were both perplexed by Pepco's incompetence) and was done in two days with minimal interruption while we worked from home. When we realized there was an issue a few months later, they came right out and fixed the issue. Being able to communicate with Bill via text, troubleshoot to the extent that I'm comfortable, and send photos, was a very natural form of communication for me, and not one I've experience with other electricians. Honestly can't sing their praises enough. read more

E-mailed with my problem, got a call back within 24 hours and service within one day. Not only did the fix the problem of which I was aware, they also fixed other problems I didn't realize existed (that really needed fixing) and make great suggestions for future. This is as good as it gets. Quick response, professional service and expert advise. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" is as appropriate here as anywhere. This is why you call a trained electrician and not just a "handyman" who knows electric. read more

We contacted William (Bill) after tree fell and ripped our electrical service line off our house. Pepco performed a temporary reattachment, but the service line was loose between the house attachment and meter entrance and the plastic Weatherhead was damaged and in multiple pieces in the yard . Bill took a look at pictures I sent and gave me a call within the hour to let me know what the potential scope of work could entail as well as costs for the different scenarios. He sent Jeremy and Kevin out to confirm the scope of work. Jeremy checked the line, service entrance into the house and breaker panel. They were able to quickly and professionally reattach the service line and permanently clamp it down between the house attachment and the meter. They also installed a new Weatherhead. Bill and his team were quick to communicate with us, quick to arrive, and professional in their work and interactions with us. If you need electricians, I recommend giving Bill a call. read more

10 stars out of 5!! Hyman Electric provided "shockingly" great service!! Fast, efficient and very reasonably priced! They provided same day service. Mr. Hyman answered the phone and took my service order himself. There was a short window for performance of work - that same day! The electrician (Jerry) was professional, patient, informative, and provided old school "great customer service," that was a blast, from a customer oriented past. Used this company about 3 weeks ago and highly recommend them. This is an unsolicited review from a first time customer - who will be a repeat customer. William G. Hyman Electric is simply the best - use them and forget the rest! "No brag - just fact." C. Featherson read more

Great professional guys, I will contract them in the future. They put shoe covers are very friendly thoughtful, honest. They told me upfront how much diagnostic will cost 175$ and we go from here. The replacement of electrical socket was faulty, probably due to previous electrician neglect and they fixed it for 70$ read more

Hyman Electrical Contracting deserves an infinite number of stars. Mr. Hyman was responsive and thorough throughout the whole process of resolving our electrical issue. I work from home full-time and we suddenly lost power in the upstairs of our home where all the bedrooms and office space were located. He was able to send electricians to our home to evaluate the issue and begin work immediately. It turned out that the space heaters we were using fried the wiring inside the outlets so they replaced them and also fixed our breaker. Their work was worth every dime and I will call them in the future! Thank you Mr. Hyman, Jeremy, and Kevin for your level of attention and hard work! We are forever grateful. read more

We could not be more pleased with the professionalism and service we received. Bill is a great communicator, so we always knew what was happening and when. He is knowledgeable and considerate. They replaced parts of our electrical panel, and upgraded our set up for new furnaces we were having installed. When a part wasn't available, he ordered it and delivered it within 2-3 days. The crew was also excellent and their work was top notch. read more

Bill was incredibly responsive to my late night request and very communicative throughout the process, getting me an appointment next day with his team of Jeremy and Kevin. They did an awesome job hooking up the switches and were fun to chat with as they fixed my mistakes. Would definitely call again for my next electrical issue and recommend to others. read more

Jeremy and Kevin did an outstanding job performing many electrical repairs and installing several light fixtures and fans. They're friendly, efficient, and reasonably priced. I'd absolutely hire them again! read more

Communication with Mr. Hyman from our first conversation through completion of work was stellar. He was patient with my many questions and conscientious of budget, offering varying options. He advised us when his staff would be at our home, up through their pulling into the driveway. Hi staff, Jeremey and Kevin were competent, professional, efficient and respectful. We had under cabinet and recessed lighting installed in addition to removal of an old clock outlet wires and new outlet in our basement. They will be our go to electricians if we choose or need more electrical work done. We will not look further. Thank you, Bill Hyman electric! read more

Great electricians! Right before the winter holidays, I had a new stove installed but silly me, I didn't realize I needed to upgrade my electric panel to accommodate the more powerful dual-fuel stove. Hyman electric was able to come out and upgrade my outlet and panel quickly and efficiently. Holidays saved! read more

I choose Hyman Electrical from a Yelp selection and I'm glad I did. Our bathroom light had gone out with a pop and a fizzle and a faint burning smell. I spoke with Bill on the phone and shared with him a photo of the offending item and the its switch. A short conversation and a couple of suggestions later the light was back in working order. This was an amazing outcome to my call. Bill took the time to solve my issue - because he figured he knew what it was right away - rather than sending out a technician and charging me their service and repair fees, which he absolutely could have done and I would have been none the wiser. The next time I have an electrical issue I will definitely call Bill; even if it results in a callout to repair the problem, this experience today tells me that he will always be a good steward of my hard earned dollars, a rare situation in today's world. Thank you Bill. read more

They did some homework before even calling me back, looking at photos that were on line and looking up the permit history of my address. Knowledgeable, fair priced, polite, responsive. Fantastic experience. Thanks! read more

For weeks, we detected the odor of an electrical burn but just couldn't figure out where it was coming from until an infrequently used wall outlet suddenly showed signs of burning. I located William G Hyman online and called him because he said his electricians do "troubleshooting" and that's what we needed. I spoke with Mr Hyman and he had an electrician, Jeremy, and his assistant Kevin, come to the house. They arrived as scheduled and found a frayed, ungrounded wire in our fuse box (from when the house was constructed in 1999?) and repaired it and the outlet, and checked other outlets on the circuit. Very professional. Reasonable charge, given the time and thoroughness of their visit ($315). I feel much safer now. Highly recommend. read more

We have been using Hyman Electric for 5 years and I can't even count all of the marvelous work they have done for us. You can't do better than their team. We have some complicated issues which they have solved easily from a wired ring door bell installation, panel work, plugs in and outdoors, to a hot tub and pool instillation. And, they are always pleasant! read more

Great experience. I called on a monday and described an issue (intermittently dimming lights). Bill Hyman called me back, asked some questions and gave a couple of theories about the cause, but was fairly convinced just from our conversation that I had a seized attic fan. He sent out a pair of electricians on Thursday who did troubleshooting of the issue, and identified that Bill's initial suspicion was in fact correct. read more

I thought I had a bad GFCI which resulted in losing power to the refrigerator late on Sunday night. I called Mr. Hyman first thing Monday morning and he walked me through diagnosing the problem over the telephone, and he resolved my issue right then and there! Was able to schedule a next day service that work with my work schedule. The technicians showed up on time, were able to diagnosis the issue quickly, provide me with a quote and get to work in just 15 minutes. Were so thankful for this company. Especially Jeremy, the electrician that came out. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and detail oriented. He was upfront and thorough about everything. We really appreciated the work he did for us, at the price he charged us. This company truly cares about its customers and it shows. They want you to know the origin of the issue and will address it with you so you're aware of what's going on the entire time, and to avoid having the same issue in the future. Thanks, from Bianca and Pia! read more

We used Hyman Electric this spring for major replacement of old electrical wiring outdoors and electrical box in old house in NW DC. The two-man crew was friendly, professional and efficient. They were flexible in handling extra, more minor upgrades of outlets on request. Mr. Hyman was responsive to all inquiries and working through the quagmire of DC inspections and PEPCO engagement. We are very happy with Hyman and will use them again. read more

I wish I'd found these guys earlier. I have an older (1948) house and was having some odd electrical issues. Bill returned my call quickly and spent quite some time on the phone discussing the issue even before sending his crew came out. Long story short, not surprisingly my legacy service was not adequate for modern electrical demands. Jeremy and Kevin were great - they were timely, worked quickly, and explained what they were doing and why I needed it done. Communication was great throughout; I was having other work done at the house and Bill worked directly with that contractor to coordinate, which made life much easier with me. Finally, Bill handled all the PEPCO and county inspection interactions and got it all done promptly. Highly recommend for workmanship, professionalism, responsiveness, and fair pricing. read more

Really great experience. Quick, efficient and on time! We had a new breaker box installed and the county inspector remarked that it was an excellent wiring job. I'd certainly recommend. read more

Proven honesty and competency! I had a new oven delivered today. The Home Depot technician told me that the oven did not work because a breaker NEEDED to be replaced, as he explained was based on the Error code that showed on the display (low power). I was told to call a electrician to replace the breaker. I found Hyman and chose him because of proven 51 years in business. I have never used them before so I was ONLY a potential new customer. Instead of immediately scheduling a visit, he told me they wanted to SAVE ME MONEY, if possible. With patience and care ON THE PHONE, he walked me through my breaker box and had me switch it twice, then back to my oven, and it worked! He even explained why the low power code initially appeared then disappeared...due to the smart system rebooting. I then baked my cookies! Another electrician would have come right out and at least charged me a service call visit minimum charge. We don't have many left like Hyman Electric, but I will now make his company my Electrician of choice. read more

Honest. That is the reason why I will use Bill and his team every time I need electrical help. I had them come to check out several things listed on an inspection report. They did what was necessary and gave me an estimate for the others, and while it would have earned them a bunch of money and I was ready to pay it, they recommended *against* doing that work. There are plenty of other contractors out there who would not have hesitated to take my money. The work they did do was done competently and quickly. I can't recommend them enough. read more

I called Mr. Hyman's company with a slight emergency and an even larger mystery. I'm not very versed in matters electrical, so I won't try to describe the issue here. Suffice to say, I left a message describing the situation and within about an hour I got a call back from Mr. Hyman. He asked questions, we discussed theories of what might have occurred. He was exceedingly patient but very thorough. In the end, he told me what he thought had gone wrong and suggested a series of (safe) steps that could potentially solve the problem or, if they didn't work, indicate that a visit was necessary. I followed his suggestions to the letter, and he was 100% on target. I was able to solve the problem, and he gave me fantastic advice on how to follow up and insure the problem didn't re-appear. He was kind, generous with his time, really engaged by the "mystery", and a total professional. I can't emphasize to you how impressed I was by Mr. Hyman. read more

I called Bill early in the morning when the electricity stopped working in my guest bedroom. He sent Jeremy and Kevin out to me within an hour. They did fantastic work, and were thorough, professional, and kind. I highly recommend them! read more

I hired this electrical contractor upon the recommendation of a neighbor who knew of their work

These guys are great. From the moment we submitted the request for quote, Mr. Hyman followed up. I sent him pictures to his mobile phone and he gave me a quote. We were able to schedule the appointment the next week. When one suggested time did not work, Mr. Hyman worked around my schedule. On the day of, I received a message that the technician would be here in approximately 45 minutes. He was on time, courteous, friendly, and very professional. It was a very nasty, rainy day so he wore shoe covers every time he came in the house from outside. The work took about 3-3.5 hours and they did an amazing job of avoiding having to tear out much drywall. In fact, Jeremy (the technician) cut the drywall so cleanly that he was able to put the pieces back into the wall where they are just awaiting a minor job of cleaning up the drywall. These guys are great and I highly recommend them. They're prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and considerate. They also have pride in their work. You don't see that much around this city. read more
