He addressed my questions and concerns. And, had solutions that made sense without blowing up my budget. The work was weather delayed. The heat was so extreme he had concerns about the effect. Legitimate delays. Each concern was communicated and handled in such a great way. In the end, I have more than I expected. A foundation for a carport, turnaround area and driveway. All of it beautiful, grated and perfect. I would recommend TRW and Robbie for any paving job.

UPDATE 10/20/13:…read more Just to update my fellow Yelpers - the Travis County Justice of the Peace agreed with me, and not Robby, and issued a judgment against him to refund my money. So, did Robby pay? Of course not! It's now official and a matter of public record: Robert White and TRW Concrete Constuction rip off their customers, and refuse to issue a refund when ordered to by a Judge. Do you want to work with a company that ignores court orders? Run, don't walk, away from TRW as quickly as you can. _____________________________ If I could give negative stars, I would. I got several bids and selected TRW / Robby, based off a good feeling after meeting him and his stellar Yelp review. We agreed on a price, and I told him I would call him when the work was ready to start (pouring a foundation for a new garage). A few weeks later, I told him I was ready, and he came back to the job site to discuss the project again and collect a deposit. He increased his bid by a significant amount, claiming that he lost his notes after our first meeting. By that point, I had already told the other 2 people I talked to that I was going with someone else. TRW's new number not too much higher than the other bids, I needed the work done quickly, and agreed to the change, contingent on him starting immediately. I write him a check for a deposit, and he said he would be back the following day to start excavation.... [2 weeks later pass with lots of excuses but no action] HE FINALLY SHOWED UP! I thought my problems were solved at that point... Little did I expect they would just get worse. After doing the excavation, Robby tried to increase the price AGAIN! I asked to meet him at the job site the next day to discuss. When we met, and I asked him when he could finish the job and to explain the cost increase, he said he was no longer willing to do the work. I couldn't believe that a reputable contractor would walk off a job! He did not offer any explanation as to why he would not finish the job. He said he would refund the bulk of my deposit, less a number that he came up with as a fair cost of the excavation. At that point, I wasn't going to argue numbers with him, and just wanted to get as much of my money back as possible and start the work of finding a contractor to come in and clean up the mess he left so as to not delay my project any longer. He promised to come back the next day with a check. Of course, he never showed up, and won't answer phone calls, emails or texts. BEWARE - he will take your money and run.

My first clue should have been that he was immediately available for the job - he quoted the job one evening and wanted to start the next morning. He asked for more than 30% deposit up front, and within 15 minutes of cashing the check and starting the job, I received a text message from Solomon that he underestimated the materials cost by $400 and asked that I cover the expense. I declined and drove up to Home Depot myself to price the material - the entire material cost did not reach $400, let alone exceed the estimate. Considering he had just cashed my depot of nearly $2k, I decided to proceed with the job. The next 10 days were an absolute nightmare. I am embarrassed for him at the quality of his work. No caulking, no proper sealing. I literally could have painted better myself, and should have. Overspray everywhere, no clean lines. And, he brought children to my home - sleepy teenagers in headphones yelling out music lyrics while making an unsophisticated attempt at professional work. Let me not forget the time he wanted to work through the weekend, and literally asked for a key to my house to use while I was gone. Absolutely NEVER. He does not know how to float & tape, cut in, match paint, keep paint off of tiles and flooring, and he has no ability to take direction or problem solve. And his timeliness... he says he is going to show up at 7 am, shows up at 10 am with no excuse. Then at 10:15 has to run to Home Depot but then something comes up and he shows up late afternoon. Can I mention that the first time I provided ultra clear direction to him was after sleeping on my hardwood floors for 2 nights because he was working on my master bedroom for THREE days! It's an 1800 sq ft house, the whole of which could be painted in 3 days. Day three I asked him to wrap up my bedroom so I could get back to my life and to clean up the horrible paint lines, pics of which I will post. His reply is that things look good to him and that I am being too picky. Then he immediately quits, and has the nerve to send his helper back to my door for a $10 can of spackle. Y'all, I gave this man 60% of the job cost and on the 3rd day of him working in my master bedroom and asking him to be timely and clean, he quits mid sentence. This is theft. Strongly caution you against hiring this man. Let my lesson and the stupid tax I am paying save you the pain and the $.

In short, they did a fantastic…read morejob, were honest, upfront, left things clean, and were there from start to finish without any notable delays. I have recommended Marks Builders to many of my family and friends, and they've all had great things to say too.  Read on if you want the whole story! I had a leak in a wall between two bathrooms, above the kitchen.  Just to set the scene, my wife was pregnant and we had a baby due 3 weeks after the start of the construction.  My kitchen had a dropped ceiling and was original to the 1970s house.  Dustin worked with State Farm (my insurance carrier) to bring the adjuster's repair estimate up to a par. He and his team worked with us to order cabinets early (we were getting custom cabinets so they had a long lead time), then they gutted the kitchen and bathroom, raising the ceiling to 8' (reworking the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical lines in the process).  They pulled up all of the tile in the downstairs while we were out of the house (and in the hospital having the baby).  We asked for a few days at home without construction when we came home, to which they agreed. They worked hard to make sure that the house was ready for cabinets when they would be delivered. The cabinets were delivered without issue and installed the same week, with the trim taking longer than any other single step because they wanted it to look just right - and it paid off! The finishing touches make all the difference! The granite crew came in and did their thing. Like all of Dustin's sub-contractors, they were on time, professional, and courteous. They did their work well, quickly, and cleanly. We opted for granite counters and granite backsplashes, with different edge finishes in different places, corners, etc. to work around. They did it all well. Our kitchen looks fantastic, even a year and a half later. Through the whole 2-month process, Dustin's crew was on-site 4-6 days/week, except when we asked for the break. We made a lot of changes midway through, and Dustin didn't nickel and dime on the little things (moving an outlet, changing from a 2 gang to a 4 gang plug, etc). He was happy to work with my attention to detail (which can frustrate most people I know) and he did it with a smile - his attention to detail was similar. His crew was always fun to have around, and I never once worried about them being in the home, whether I was there or not. They worked hard to make sure we felt safe with them in the house at the start of Covid. All said, I strongly recommend Marks Builders. They're honest, smart, hard-working, and fun people who care about the work they produce and their customers' experience.

I was a first-time homeowner and fell for the classic "We'll give you a free roof inspection"…read morepitch. I ended up hiring Priority Roofing, a company with hundreds of 5-star Google reviews. What could possibly go wrong? The answer: plenty. My new roof leaked after the very first rain. My insurance adjuster denied the claim because the leak was caused by faulty chimney flashing/shingle installation, making it a workmanship issue that should have been covered under the roofer's warranty. When I contacted Priority Roofing, they flat-out refused to take responsibility. Two employees came out, poured water over the roof for a few minutes, declared everything was fine, and left. Since they refused to honor their warranty, I hired another contractor at my own expense. Sure enough, he found that Priority Roofing's installation was indeed the cause of the leak. I had to pay out of pocket to repair damage that never should have happened in the first place. I thought the nightmare was over. Four years later, my roof leaked again. This time, I discovered that Priority Roofing had reused my old roof vents instead of replacing them during the roof installation. The aging vent seals eventually failed, causing another leak. Rather than go through another frustrating warranty battle with Priority Roofing--with no confidence they would fix the problem correctly anyway--I did extensive research and found Reyes Roofing. I worked with Vincente, and the experience was everything I wish the first one had been. Vincente and his crew replaced the old vents that should have been replaced from the beginning, sealed every vulnerable area, and thoroughly addressed the issues left behind by Priority Roofing. They were professional, honest, and meticulous throughout the process. As an added bonus, their price was significantly lower than the other roofing companies I contacted. Thank you, Vincente and Reyes Roofing, for finally ending years of roof leaks and frustration. You restored my faith that there are still contractors who stand behind their work.
