The place is spotless the staff is helpful and the prices aren't that bad. Brought my own ammo and weapon so all I needed was targets and a station to shot. This was my first time here so I really didn't know the procedures but they make the process effortless.

We came here for my cousin's birthday. We wanted to do something exciting and decided to check out a shooting range for the first time. One of my friends recommended this location because of the cleanliness and professionalism of the group, so we decided to check it out. We were driving from NYC so it took a while to get here. We got here in the evening and had time to learn and shoot. You have to watch an instructional video in the beginning. Afterward, you head to the register and they guide you through what you will need for the session. There's a wide menu of different things you can get for your session. I highly suggest only getting a few (if you have a group of 3, getting 3 total might be enough) of the paper shooting targets. We definitely bought way too many. Price-wise -- it was a bit more than I expected, but I technically also don't know how much things go for when it comes to this type of experience. It was definitely alright for the first time. As a first-timer, they set us up with a range safety officer who explained how to hold a gun, the steps, and how to shoot. Finally, you start trying it on your own. You can always get pointers from all the range safety officers who are walking around. They were very helpful. We spent an hour here and that was more than enough to have a great time! We can definitely see ourselves coming back here.

RTSP is an amazing shooting range for beginners, with super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. I've never shot a gun before but had always wanted to try, so I came to this place very nervous but excited. The check in process was easy, we had to watch a short informational video before signing some waivers, then we headed to a staffed desk, where employees helped us choose the right gun for us. Right away, I felt very taken care of, as the employee made sure that our group chose guns that were comfortable to grip, particularly me as I have smaller hands than our other party members. You're assigned a staff employee to give you a quick but thorough rundown on how to handle the guns safely, how to reload, and how to shoot. Then they stay around you to provide any guidance or help if you need any. I'll admit I was initially incredibly nervous. I kept forgetting how to unload the magazine, how to engage and disengage the safety. But all of the employees were so kind and patient, always stepping in to provide gentle guidance and constant reassurance, even if they weren't directly assigned to our group. I eventually eased up and had a great time. The staff really was what made the experience so memorable. If it's your first time, you purchase ear and eye protection, but then they're yours to keep, and you can bring them in on your next visits. Time in the shooting range is paid for by the hour. You also buy ammo, but if you bought a box of ammo that you didn't end up using, you can return the untouched box for a full refund at the end. The entire cost for the experience was a lot pricier than I expected going in blind; that said, I had a such a great time, I would love to return again!

Ask the Community - RTSP Range. Training. Firearms.

Do you sell leather belts to wear with duty rig?

We sell belts that work with firearm carrying for the civilian market. We don’t have LEO uniform clothing and/or equipment.

How old do you need to be (with adult supervision and a knowledge of guns) to use the range? What guns would be available to someone under the age of 18?

If you are with an adult, we allow anyone 8 and up with a guardian release. The firearms are all available but use is at the discretion of the Range Safety Officers.

Yes you can! You just need a photo ID.

I've recently rekindled the 2nd Amendment hobby from my younger days and this range has been…read moreamazing. I grew up handling firearms in Texas and Oklahoma and the ranges there are frankly somewhat lacking in many regards. RSOs are far and few between, safety is taken somewhat lightly, and in in general a lot of the ones I've been to aren't very well run, from membership process to ammo sales to rentals, etc. In Oklahoma specifically, I once witnessed someone discharge a .50 caliber magnum into the ceiling by mistake in the port next to me by someone who decided that starting their firearm journey with the largest revolver they could rent was a good idea. Ummmm.... Gun for Hire to me has been somewhat of a shock in how well it operates, and how nice and knowledgeable everyone is. This place is run like a Rolex factory. I became a member after the first visit. I've now brought both family friends and members to this place at least half a dozen times and every time our experience has been extremely positive. From the registration process, to the rental process to the RSOs giving tips and advice to newbies everything has been spotless so far. Rental ( non-member range ) practically has RSO for every port, and member range typically has around 2 RSOs (due to a more knowledgeable clientele). Chief RSO is a distinguished gentleman whose stories are as awesome as his mustache. Gun for Hire shop is staffed by very knowledgeable people and they sold me my first dream gun (John Browning's classic in Lord's Caliber) and I really appreciated their advice on everything from magazine selection to maintenance tools, to future purchases. If they don't have something in the shop they will write the item description on the super-cute "prescription pad" for you to be able to look them up elsewhere. Special shout out to the Gunsmith Mike who is super chill, and has helped me get my 1911 running like clockwork post-break-in period. He provided me with a ton of maintenance tips which saved me a lot of effort and time (and prevented me from doing an "idiot scratch"). Lastly, I'll address some of the extremely negative reviews that I've seen here for this place. You come to a place where you are handed a murder machine that you can fit comfortably in your hand. Follow the 4 rules or else FAFO. Yes I have definitely seen RSOs raising their voice to people doing stupid things in the rental area. That IS THEIR JOB. If you are handed a destructive device and don't follow the rules to the T don't be offended when you hear "Cease fire!". Watch a 10 minute video on youtube on gun safety and no one will have a single issue with you, I promise. This place is as inclusive as it gets.

The staff inside at the front desk was super kind, they even charged my phone for me. They have free stickers on the wall at the entrance/exit! Once we got our waivers taken care of, we went downstairs to get our guns of choice and equipment. The team was very knowledgeable and gave us great reccomendations for first timers. Marthin checked us out at the counter and had great customer service skills. We chose the AR-15 and a 9mm. It's was $313 for 4 people including the 2 guns, ammo and eyes and ear rental equipment. Not a bad price to split for ~1.5 hours. When we got inside of the range, the staff took their time to show each one of us the correct way to load, unload, pick up/put down the gun, turn the safety on/off and how to position our hands with each gun. They stayed close by for any questions an to watch our form and they so nice and helpful. Literally everyone and that helped make the experience so good for us. I took home the zombie poster after we demolished it!
