I wanted blonde highlights . $500 later I show up at Salon Blue and I tell her all I need you to do is take the highlights that are yellow and lift them to a nice white icy blonde and then please take this color that I have underneath which was a nice caramelie color and throw some lowlights in there . She put the lowlights underneath the top layer of my hair so in the front of my bangs there is yellow orange green and some blonde in my bangs and then she Roots smudged my bangs which you never ever root smudge a bang . Then on the sides she gave me a blonde money piece down the side of my face and all along the side of my head is just pure kind of a blonde ish but not the icy blonde that I was looking for and then in the back I have blonde and lowlights on the back of my head and on the back of my head only . So nothing matches at all it is all completely multiple different colors the lowlights are only on the back of the crown of my head and she got bleach blobs that fell out of the foils and now I have round quarter size dots on the back of the crown of my head . She was extremely nervous when she was blow drying my hair and when I saw the front in the lighting I was like oh this is okay this is better but after I slept on it and woke up and was curling the back of my hair I noticed all the differences in my hair and that I had no lowlights it was crazy . So I texted her today and asked her to do a correction she said she would only correct the bleach spots and that I would have to pay to come in and fix the rest of it . So I have on the side of my hair where I pull my hair back it's an inch away from my skull where she pulled the foils so it literally looks like my hair has grown for 3 months . Who does that and who doesn't fix their work . On their website that I pulled up it says highlights and or lowlights for $95 she tried to charge me $200 I told her I will give you $150 because she told me those are old prices I said listen I'm going off what is on your website on your vagaro website . So now I'm $650 in and my hair is basically brittle breaking off and looks like crap . I am so frustrated with the integrity of these hairstylist these days I am just blown away I have never had so much issue in my life and I have been bleaching and dying my hair since I was 15 years old

I reached out to the salon multiple times and asked for help or a refund. I even sent a registered letter giving them a chance to resolve it. They refused to refund me and told me not to return. I had to spend more money at another salon to fix the damage. This was a significant financial loss for me, and I'm sharing this so others don't end up in the same situation. How they can take money and know they in no way delivered what I paid for and it all fell out in the first two weeks?! Is beyond me and I recomend you consider your going there after hearing how they handle a client who spent over $1,000.00. The professional salon I turned to and had to pay the same again , has don't it correctly and not a single one has fallen out in over a month on top of fixed the color and roots and were shocked at what salon bamboo allowed anyone to pay for and treated so poorly!

I also explained that I have been a loyal client who has previously flown out of state to see my longtime stylist, but I was hoping to find someone local. I never received a response to my message, so I called. The person that answer confirmed the owner had received message and told me a person outside their salon would be a "better fit." I reached out to that person as well and received no response. Message received. The whole experience was disappointing and honestly painful. Looking for a new stylist as a queer/trans person already comes with a lot of anxiety around whether a space will actually be safe and welcoming. Sadly, this interactions let me know that my concerns were real. I can't speak to their intentions, but I can speak to the impact: I did not feel welcomed, wanted, or safe as a prospective LGBTQ client. I wish businesses could be more direct about who they aren't prepared to serve, because being quietly redirected elsewhere after explicitly asking for a queer/trans-friendly space feels awful.

I specifically told her I did not want anything stripey, chunky, or with any yellow/gold/brassy tones. Unfortunately, the result was the complete opposite of what we discussed. The highlights came out noticeably chunky and stripey, with harsh lines, poor blending, and a distinct brassy yellow tone that makes my hair look damaged and unnatural. I've never had a salon service turn out this poorly before. Lauren herself was kind and professional during the appointment, and I believe she tried her best. However, the final result does not match what was agreed upon, and it has left my previously healthy virgin hair looking compromised. I reached out to Kate Lane management the next business day with photos from multiple angles showing the issues (patchy application, thick streaks, harsh lines, and brassy color). I politely explained that I was too upset to return for a correction and requested a full refund for the highlighting service. They have refused to issue any refund. I'm extremely disappointed in both the quality of the work and the salon's unwillingness to stand behind their service when it clearly did not meet the client's explicit instructions. This experience has cost me time, money, and confidence. I would have still returned to the salon for regular haircuts and to purchase hair products if management had handled this situation differently. I have had my haircut here many times and it was always a nice experience. Unfortunately, I cannot even recommend them for that anymore. Customer service is everything and this situation was not handled fairly or appropriately. I would not recommend Kate Lane Salon for color services, especially highlights.
