Very disappointing! Food got delivered in cold. Looked like they've been sitting in the freezer for quite some time. I had to reheat everything, which I didn't mind but all the finger foods are too soggy and chewy that even my air fryer couldn't help much. As one of the main dish, I ordered Green Chicken Curry. It was green chalky, some kind of thick paste stuff that I couldn't even heat it up. That thing went to straight to the trash can. $110 bye bye There are a lot more to say but long story short, foods are total embarrassment. I attended a group tasting at RSVP Catering as I was considering them to cater my upcoming summer nuptials. The tasting was scheduled from 6-8pm, with cocktails featured from 6-6:30 with a formal sit-down dinner following. I really enjoyed the feature cocktail-"Honey, I do". It had ginger and honey with champagne and a few other ingredients I cannot recall. We were not going to have cocktails at our wedding anyway so this was basically a bonus and a nonfactor in my decision to ultimately not hire RSVP. During the cocktail hour, hors d'oeuvres were passed around by servers. Unfortunately, the servers were not very good at ensuring everyone was able to taste all the items. Constantly servers would walk by us and go to the front and return with empty trays. Finally, we began stopping servers if we were not in mid-conversation in order to sample most of the items. These were my favorite part of the tasting. I loved the tomato basil macaroon- very savory- and the ahi tuna ramen cup. The spicy chili chicken meatball on a spoon was also a favorite. Believe it or not, I was not much of a fan of the pulled pork on the mini donut. I was unable to try the mini pulled pork taco as it never made it to my area of the room. I enjoyed how the meal portion of the tasting was set up as it would be for a wedding. The salad was their winter salad featuring pear, pomegranate seeds, and a vinaigrette. The entree choices were either a short rib with celery puree or a vegetarian gnocchi with asparagus. The short rib was not as tender as I would have liked. The celery puree was a nice complement though. I did not try the vegetarian dish. Bread was also passed around but was nothing of note-fruit breads, Italian, pretzel rolls, and cornbread. The cake we tasted was quite delicious-salted caramel with vanilla icing. What I disliked the most about this tasting was that none of the items that I would have chosen for my reception meal were available for tasting. It was hard to base my decision on a meal I would never have served at my reception. I understand they do a group tasting to save time/money, but it is quite impersonal and I could not commit to a caterer without having tried the entrees I wanted to serve. This is the main reason why we chose a caterer where we did a personalized tasting and sampled the meals we have ultimately decided to serve to our guests. It's not that I would not recommend RSVP catering, but I would definitely consider whether or not you feel comfortable committing to a caterer without actually sampling your specific entree choices. read more

I used RSVP catering for my wedding recently and I am so glad that I did. First off, my original point of contact was Abbey and she is a big reason why I went with the company. We talked on the phone (I was planning from across the country) and she was so friendly and professional. She listened to ideas on food, and put together an amazing proposal that kept my budget in mind. After that, she was always quick to respond and just generally made the whole process so easy. And then the cocktail hour and reception went really smoothly. We had a complicated change over from the ceremony space to the reception space, and they did it quickly and efficiently. RSVP Catering catered for my nephews 1st birthday! The theme was Octonauts (The Kids Show) and everything was delicious. All the foods fit the theme exactly how I pictured it. They made QuicksandHummus, Seaweed Salad, Fish Biscuit to go bags (as seen in the picture below! The kids had their own activity station where they could make their own candy fish bowls. Main course was Mac and Cheese, BBQ, potato salad & watermelon! Mac and cheese was great! The best part was the cake!! Strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries! Delicious. We worked with Abbey at RSVP and had a fabulous experience (our wedding was May 27, 2018). She was very responsive, professional, calm, and attentive - I felt very prepared knowing we were in her hands as we approached the date! We did not have a wedding planner, and Abbey also provided great advice when we weren't sure which option to choose. She worked to understand what was important to us and delivered on that. I attended my little cousins construction themed birthday party over the weekend. They had chosen RSVP catering last year, so I was really interested to see how they could top it off! But they really outdid themselves with the decorations and attention to detail. The menu consisted of mini tacos, crab cakes, taquitos and make your own mini burgers. I was recently at a wedding in Leesburg this past weekend for my best friend. I was excited to hear that he and his bride had chosen RSVP Catering as I had heard about them and seen their building many times in Fairfax. I feel horrible that the bride and groom paid so much money for such a horrible experience. Here are the issues. 1. Buffet style service. Usually, there are plenty of "clean" plates at the buffet table for folks who would like to have another plate of food. My entire table had to come back to the table and take back their original dirty plates because there were no more clean plates. Luckily, the pre-bussing was non existent and everyone was able to come back and get their old dirty plates that were stacked up in front of me. Last I checked that is a serious no no in the health code department. 2. Did I mention lack of service?? At one point I watched a server look at our table full of dirty plates and just stand there. She finally came over to take away my empty glass!!! I had to TELL her to clean the empty plates in front of me after all of us had been finished eating for about 20 minutes. 3. The food was pretty good for the most part. The beef tenderloin in particular was some of the best I have had at a wedding. The chicken was inedible. Dry and rock hard. Staff had no idea what they were serving us. 4. Never got to try the wedding cake because the servers never came around to make sure we had all received some. I'm sorry if I was busy giving the best man's toast and wasn't seated at the time of cake service. I can't really critique the cake but the word on the street was that is was "meh"..... I wasn't the only one who didn't get to try the cake as anyone who wasn't seated was never served any cake. Never had that happen before. 5. Bar never gave last call, stopped service at 10:15, when the they should have been serving until 10:30. The drink list was also very simple and easy to produce. They knew that Grey Goose and tonic was going to be a very popular drink yet they of course run out of limes at 9:30 I had brunch with the new husband and wife the next day and did not want to say anything. The groom had heard from other guests of some issues and wanted me to confirm them. The wedding was for 100 guests and he was absolutely furious not only for the service issues but for the amount of money he paid this company to cater his wedding. I have already told another engaged couple we know to stay away from RSVP. I hope that this message saves some other couple's wedding. read more

Just given the experience I had with trying to get a quote from RSVP catering -I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to hire them. I went back and forth with RSVP several times to try to get a quote for my wedding next year. It was seriously like pulling teeth. You would think these people would try to "wow" me a bit to get my business -but Izzy, the account rep could freaking care less. When I called to follow up, she would always say, "Oh I was just about to call you" .... It's a shame...caterers have a ridiculous mark up. You should definitely get what you pay for!!! I work as an event planner, and our company uses RSVP for the majority of our events. They have corporate catering down to a science. We frequently do served lunches for 200+ guests and the service is quick and the food is consistent. Their waitstaff is the actually fastest I have worked with, and remain professional with high level speakers and attendees. Our sales girls are Ginny (the sweetest!) and Amanda, who are both professional, fun, and flexible with budget and food choices. RSVP isn't the most high-end in the area but they are affordable and deliver a solid product. Some highlights: -They did boozy mini popsicles for a rooftop reception - a huge hit! -A client couldn't decide between brownies and cheesecake, so their pastry chef made custom cupcakes that were both! They were out of this world. -They have really good individually wrapped homemade granola bars, which are also gluten free. -I love their baby kale Caesar salad with garlic poppyseed dressing. read more

As a wedding DJ in Northern Virginia, we get the opportunity to work with a variety of vendors, including caterers. We've never seen a caterer show up to a site visit, unless it was the catering company on site, but RSVP was there. And they did a FANTASTIC job communicating their ideas during the site visit and again the day of the wedding reception. They made sure I had enough to eat and drink and kept refilling my ginger ale all evening. There are times I'm lucky to get one glass of water at the beginning, but they were right there making sure even the minute details were perfect. The food was fantastic, as they even recreated perfectly, a type of bread that's only available in Upstate New York, and it was perfect. The servers were all smiling and courteous throughout, with genuine smiles and were happy to remove extra plates from the tables in a timely fashion without being over bearing. I recommend RSVP Catering and will definitely call them first if I plan another event. They freed me from worry: what more could a host want? RSVP did an excellent job at a reception that I recently hosted. When I first called caterers, I did not know the event budget. Got three bids. Budget came in lower than expected. Two caterers eventually turned down the work. RSVP rescued the situation by offering a menu that fit the budget and even addressed the dietary needs of guests. The food was simple but tasty and very attractively presented. Guests nibbled and then kept going back for more. RSVP arrived at the venue early, and all was set up long before our first guest came through the door. The RSVP catering supervisor inspired confidence: he looked calm, communicated well, and acted on my several requests. I was able to focus on greeting guests and making sure that everyone felt included. By prior arrangement, RSVP cleaned up while our guests were listening to a speech: this saved us money on staffing. At our request, the catering supervisor moved leftovers and beverages to one table for guests to enjoy after the speech. We were therefore able to keep serving our guests after the RSVP van drove away. The venue put responsibility for cleanup on us organizers. I was braced for a lot of work, but RSVP did 99% of it, even mopping the floor. We just had to take care of the few items that our guests did not eat or drink--very easy. ____________________ Here's my earlier comment (before the event): Working with a fairly limited budget, I sought bids from several caterers. RSVP has been responsive by email and phone, and has also worked with my venue. RSVP beat the other caterers on price, flexibility, and quality of materials. I can't comment on the quality of the food until the event happens, but the menu on the bid is highly specific and seems appealing. Here are a few pointers that might help you find a good caterer: -Does the venue recommend specific caterers, or perhaps require you to use specific firms? If so, this can work to your advantage: venue staff should know the caterers well, and might help you work out a plan. -Do you have a clear budget? Make sure you know the cost of using the venue and the number of guests, so you can then figure out the price of catering. -What do you and your guests want and expect? Are you trying to wow people, or just give them a bite to eat, or something in between? If you only pay for ice water, the caterer will not show up with champagne. -What do your guests actually NEED? Light appetizers are fine, unless you serve them at mealtime to a starving crowd. -Does the caterer disclose all costs? Ask your caterer to list every single charge you might face, including rental of tables, linens, glassware, taxes, setup, delivery, gratuity, etc. RSVP had fewer separate fees than other caterers who submitted bids. -Do you mainly want to pay for food, or drink, or atmosphere--or all of the above? I was a recent wedding with this company doing the catering. I would say the food was barely edible, and the service was awful. The employees dishing out the food were in another world and not paying attention to what you were saying whether you wanted more or less of something, or if at all. They were in there with their assembly line attitude and just trying to get their job done without paying attention to the wedding guests. Not once did they come around and refill water glasses at the tables, despite it being over 90 degrees that day. Also, they would not give a woman at our table another plate to go up and get more food since they served her items with meat after requesting vegetarian food only. She did use the same plate eventually. Constantly throughout dinner the servers hounded the table to try and clear plates whether or not everyone was finished at that table. Also, as soon as dinner was finished they removed mine and my girlfriends half full glasses of wine while we were walking around for 5 minutes. Again, they were not attentive in restocking the dessert area, as many people had to ask many times. Maybe if you are the one paying for the wedding they treat you great, and while at your own wedding you have more important things to worry about, and don't notice these things but I would never recommend this company to anyone. *Because the service and food was so bad, I did make a point of noticing the truck outside at the end of the night, and that is how I know it was this company who served the wedding. read more

I can say only good things about my experience with RSVP catering. The event was a reception following my husband's memorial service. My daughter worked with Sabrina to handle most of the details as I was in no frame of mind to deal with it. Everything was perfect. The reception was held at my church. The delivery arrived exactly on time, the room was set up beautifully and we added flowers on the tables. TRULY BEYOND EXCELLENT - SIMPLY WOW! When my fiancé and I booked a wedding venue, the staff provided a list of caterers, as well as their guest- and personal- preferences. One of the caterers included RSVP Catering and we vividly remembering seeing their trucks throughout the DC metropolitan. On top of that, we knew businesses and acquaintances that have used their services. So why not give it a shot right? When we arrived for our first meet-n-greet, the receptionist and Account Executive approached us with a very friendly and professional manner. Furthermore, the other staff members all smiled and greeted us like if we were their own customers. Upon discussing our vision of our wedding, the Account Exec provided many insightful thoughts into what has worked with their clients in the past, what works for which time of the year/season, how much food to consider, etc.. RSVP Catering stunned us by transforming a caterering company into a wealthy source of vast "wedding planning" knowledge. Our first meeting was completely stress-free and we came to decisions much quicker than expected! Within 24 hours, RSVP remarkably turned around a very detailed breakdown of our menu, along with Plan A/B/C options to address the inevitable change of heart. Also, RSVP knew we were definitely going with their company, yet they continue to reach out to us on a personal level by checking in and inviting us to every food tasting reception. The food, if you would not have already guessed, is DELICIOUS! It ranges from a variety of flavors and pretty much addresses any type of event, even culturally. We were extra flattered because these food tastings are fully booked with potential customers, yet RSVP treasures our business and still invites us. My fiance and I used RSVP Catering for cocktail hour and dinner at our reception at President Lincoln's Cottage about 10 days ago and we can't begin to say enough wonderful things about the food, drinks, and about our point of contact, Casey. The food was just amazing. From our initial tasting, all the way through to the lo mein that we gave our as a late night snack, the food on our wedding day was delicious. I know that often, tastings don't reflect what is actually served at the wedding (I totally understand it's hard to make consistently good food for 100+ people), but that was honestly not the case here. We were very lucky have RSVP work with us on each aspect of our passed hors d'oeuvres, bar setup, salads, mains, breads, ice cream bar, and then the late night snack (which we decided we wanted pretty last minute!). In particular, our guests raved about the pomegranate margarita, the short ribs and the fish they had for dinner, and the wonderful variety of ice cream! We also got all of our rentals through RSVP (tables, chairs, linens, etc). They were wonderfully patient with us as we asked for everything to be priced out as we tried to get the best deal that we could for what we wanted. They were also incredibly accommodating of our request to do long tables vs round tables as though it fit better in my "vision, " thought it was a little challenging fitting everything under our tent. On the wonderful, amazing, ever accommodating Casey, we really lucked out. Since over a year ago when we met her, right up until our wedding day, she was terrific and we honestly couldn't have felt any better taken care of (important when you have so many other things going on leading up to and the day of your wedding!). My finace and I don't miss a lot about the wedding planning process, but the main one is that we don't get to talk to Casey anymore! All around A++ experience, wonderful time, and great memories. We are so happy that we chose RSVP catering for our wedding! Our venue offered us five catering options and I requested quotes from all - RSVP catering was the ONLY one to provide me a detailed quote that included all the elements I wanted for the event. Maura handled our event and was wonderfully responsive throughout the whole process. She didn't bat an eye when we made several changes to the menu after our tasting and additions to our booking in the months leading up to the big day. For us, good food was a big priority - we've been to weddings where the hot food wasn't even warm and the buffet kept running out because the serving containers were so small (and the staging area was far away) - Maura understood my desire for tasty, hot, and a lot of food for guests. We were so excited when our plates tasted just as good as we remembered from the personal tasting we did. We received many compliments! The buffet was also set up very beautifully, which was an added bonus. I also consider RSVP catering to be a GREAT value. We had pre-ceremony drinks, four passed appetizers, a dessert cheese display, and a full buffet for 150 people in the DC Metro area for $13,000. Believe me when I say that it far surpassed the other quotes I got for value. The only issue we had was a miscommunication about the pre-ceremony drinks. We were planning a "winter" wedding for Feb but got surprised with 70 degrees! So we had planned on mulled wine and hot cocoa, but our caterer asked the groom if he'd prefer a cold drink option instead. He said yes, assuming they'd replace the wine with a sangria or something, but instead they replaced it with a non-alcoholic cider. RSVP catering provided the food for our wedding. We had tried three other vendoos for food and finally decided on this vendor. RSVP topped the list after we got an opportunity to take home some of their food. We had a few select appetizers (chicken skewers, gazpacho), roasted chicken, salad with champagne vinaigrette (delicious!), shrimp, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese (so creamy!). If you think mac and cheese is boring, just try RSVP's version and you will change your mind! Our guests loved the food, they went back for seconds and there was nearly none left of the main dishes. The staff from RSVP had already worked with our venue and there were no issues as far as we could tell. We went with a buffet option and this worked out quite well vs. doing plating, guests got their fill. We highly suggest this vendor if you're trying to figure out a caterer. Their price was mid-range and their food was delicious, some of the guests are still talking about it. We tried a few other pretentious caterers with fancy puree's and under dressed salads, this caterer put the fancy in the right places and kept the main dishes rich and flavorful. Can't ask for more!
