Specialties
RSMD Aesthetics Training specializes in continuing education for licensed medical providers seeking advanced training in aesthetic medicine, including botulinum toxin (Botox) and injectable treatments. Our programs emphasize facial anatomy, injection technique, and patient safety through a structured, evidence-based curriculum.
Founded by Dr. Rebecca Small, Clinical Professor at UCSF, RSMD offers a comprehensive training pathway in Santa Cruz, California, including self-paced online courses with real patient cases and small-group, hands-on injector training workshops. Our botulinum toxin (Botox) hands-on workshops are CME/CMU approved.
Providers from both California and out of state are welcome. Those not licensed in California may participate in all training and practice on silicone models while observing live patient treatments.
We also offer advanced Skills Labs for continued hands-on mentorship, as well as Rounds with Dr. Small; an online community with case discussions, live Ask Me Anything sessions, and treatment demonstrations.
From beginner to advanced injector training, RSMD supports ongoing clinical growth and safe, effective patient care.
History
Established in 2000.
RSMD Aesthetics Training was founded by Dr. Rebecca Small, a physician and Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco. After developing the medical aesthetics curriculum used for UCSF’s plastic surgery residents and nurse practitioner programs, Dr. Small created RSMD to expand access to structured, evidence-based injection education for licensed medical providers.
RSMD courses integrate anatomy, safety, and standardized technique, combining online learning with new in-person, small-group hands-on training sessions held at Dr. Small’s California clinic. The program builds on her academic foundation and the Practical Guide to Aesthetic Medicine textbook series used in training programs worldwide.
