We cannot recommend Emersen enough! My son's confidence in math has completely turned around, and he is currently doing the best he has ever done in the subject. Emersen has a remarkably calm demeanor and a gift for breaking down complex topics. They have a knack for pinpointing exactly what my son is having trouble with and helping him totally nail it. In fact, my son told me that his sessions with Emersen are far more helpful than his actual teacher at school. If you want a tutor who truly understands how to teach and connects with students, Emersen is the one! read more

Overall, the tutoring service was helpful and effective. Concepts were explained clearly, and the materials provided, such as worksheets, were useful for practicing and reinforcing learning. The sessions helped improve understanding of the subject read more

Evan Gao was amazing in helping my daughter with her Physics course. He was engaging, encouraging and really helped her understand concepts that she struggled with. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a Physics tutor! read more

Adam has been an excellent tutor for my daughter. You wouldn't necessarily think they would be a great fit based on bios, but he has kept her focused, built her confidence and encouraged her to become better. Their sessions are always productive and instead of feeling frustrated and discouraged, she comes away smiling and feeling positive. read more

Michal Borton was an incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and caring tutor that made me excited to learn about Biology. I am so appreciative of all of the help I got from Michal and I never felt judged even when asking "silly" questions about Biology. read more

Whenever my son needed a bit of extra help in his studies, AJ Tutoring could always find him the right person. They are very accommodating to schedules, but I do recommend getting started with them early. Now my son just finished studying for college tests and the results have been more than expected. So happy with all their help. read more

We started with AJ Tutoring almost 3 years ago, because we wanted to give our son an after-school tutor for math. The tutoring, became even more important this year, with the High School transition. The director of the AJ office in Los Gatos, Jake Beech, has been a helpful resource to identify the right tutor for our needs and we started immediately with Dennis Valle-Ramirez. My son is really happy working with Dennis. He is very prepared and helpful in explaining new math topics and with pre-test assessments. Our son gained confidence and strengthen his math skills with measurable improvements on his scores and the successful outcome of getting into his favorite high school. We also had a very great experience with Jessica, a language tutor who assisted our son to improve his essay writing skills. Thanks, Dennis, Jessica, Jake, and thanks AJ!! - R.M. read more

My daughter is very positive about her lesson with Kamlapati Khalsa at Los Gatos location who seems to understand just what she needs on her and how to get her there.   I could not be happier!  Thank you for giving my daughter the confidence she needs to keep gaining momentum in AP Cal & Physics. (Parent of a Grade 11 student) read more

My son has been working with AJ tutoring for the majority of high school. Ian Richardson and Joe Notar have been invaluable to his continued success. With their guidance and support he was able to stay on course with the learning and continuously maintain his grades. They pay close attention to each quiz/test and make sure he grasps the subject. They also reach out to the parents and check-in consistently to ensure the work they are doing is having an impact. In addition to their support and guidance, Ian (specifically) became a sort of mentor to my son, whom developed a deep respect for him. If you're considering hiring a tutor, don't think twice, AJ Tutoring is the place to go! read more

Leela Solomon tutored my son for two years at the Los Gatos location. She is an excellent tutor and helped my son increase his scores significantly, especially in Trigonometry in 10th grade, AP Physics, and AP Calc AB in 11th grade.  Leela is professional, engaging, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend Leela for tutoring. read more

I have been tutoring with AJ since 6th grade. I am in 11th now. All of my tutors at AJ have been phenomenal! Math is my weak subject. Joe at AJ has helped me through Algebra II immensely. He always fits me in his busy schedule when I have needed extra help. He is extremely quick in responding to my emails. He is a gem ... A++++!! read more

From the get go, the Los Gatos Blvd. AJ was professional and personable. The tutor bios online along with the director's chat with my son gave him a better idea on who to work with. Our tutor always Cc'd me with any schedule change or notes from the session...always flexible with meet up times. We were especially impressed with our son's steady increase in PSAT scores. He was developing the rigor and confidence with every attempt. There was a last minute SAT change from May to June so they paced his schedule just right. It was worth every dollar to us. read more

We have been using AJ tutoring for three years and their professionalism is excellent! I highly recommend Dennis Ramirez as a math specialist. He has worked with my son on algebra and geometry with tremendous success. He has a truly excellent way of teaching the material. SC read more

I would like to share my experience with Lan Do a tutoring coach from AJ Tutoring. I'm 78 year old man wanting to become a certified health coach. I took a course and prepared for my exam (150 multiple choice questions in 3 hours). I studied hard and felt very prepared for the exam and failed! I was devastated and forlorn. A friend suggested I call AJ Tutoring of Los Gatos, and I did. I was referred to Lan Do and we made an appointment for a video call/coaching session. Lan was patient and clear in her instruction to me. She was persistent and I felt every minute I spent with her was time well spent. She quickly discerned that I knew the material, but I needed help and a strategy to deal with a timed multiple choice test. That's exactly what I needed and I passed my exam last Saturday! I can't imagine anyone Lan could not help do better on any kind of test. She's great! read more

Ian Richardson has been my tutor for nearly three years now and he is outstanding. Not only did he teach me an AP Psychology course, he also did ACT/SAT prep with me and helped me with my college application essays. If you are looking for a versatile teacher who can do it all, I strongly recommend Ian. With Ian's help, my SAT score increased by nearly 300 and he helped me exceed my goals and expectations for the reading and writing sections as English is not my first language. Now, I feel more ready than ever for college thanks to Ian. read more

I called AJ tutoring to ask for help for my daughter and special needs son. I had a reasonable conversation with their placement direct, and was told I would receive a list of candidates by that evening or the next morning. AJ tutoring never followed up. No email, no phone call. It was a waste of my time and I find it highly frustrating that I shared information about my kids with them only for them to take no action at all. read more

My sons have been working with various tutors at AJ tutoring for several years and we are consistently impressed by the quality of each tutor. I highly recommend both Dennis Valle-Ramirez for Math and Christine Roberts for English and general study support. Dennis Valle-Ramirez has helped my son with algebra and geometry for nearly 3 years. We noticed not only a shift in his grades within weeks but more importantly a change in his confidence as a math student. Dennis connects well with my son and explains complex equations in simple steps. Because of their weekly meetings, my son always feels well prepared for classes and exams. Christine Roberts has worked with both of my sons for 2 years now. She is a versatile tutor, helping with reading comprehension, test prepping strategies, high school honors English papers, honors history exam prep, typing, and Spanish. She is engaging, encouraging, and professional. She has been instrumental to both my son's academic success during the pandemic. read more

The How To Be Successful in High School class with Lindsay Huysentruyt really helped me get ready and be more confident in my transition from middle school to high school. Lindsay was very clear when explaining things to me and always had good answers whenever I had a question. This class not only teaches you how to be successful in the high school environment, but also helps you succeed in scheduling and outside of school activities. Thanks to this class I am now feeling a lot more ready to go to high school and will definitely use the tips and tricks I was taught when doing my work inside and outside of school. read more

My son has been working with Robin Stevens, a tutor with AJ Tutoring for more than one year. I thoroughly recommend Robin in every way! He is super smart and organized (as you would expect from such a high caliber organization as AJT) - but what sets Robin apart is his ability to connect with my teenager. He isn't a preachy type, but practical and responsive to what is needed (and this has changed from last year to this year). He also knows how to get to the bottom of what is needed, i.e. in learning to write more descriptive language, he doesn't rewrite text for him, he actually teaches him how to come up with better words himself. (I have no idea how he does this magician's trick!) The proof is in the pudding: straight A's last year (sophomore year at LGHS) and on track again this semester. Thank you, Robin, we are so grateful for your skills and coaching. read more

Our two boys have been working with Kamlapati Khalsa, a math and programming tutor (AJ Tutoring Los Gatos Blvd) since June 2016. My wife and I wanted to supplement and advance our boys math and programming skills beyond what is expected; Kamlapati consistently exceeds our expectations. The boys consistently see Kamlapati every week for an hour throughout the year - during the school year and summer. Many times Kamlapati shows the boys different techniques on how to solve the same math problem. Other weeks he is preparing them for advanced math concepts. The boys always look forward to seeing and working with Kamlapati; they look forward to these work sessions. During the summer, Kamlapati proactively reaches out to help us set the summer agenda (math concepts for the following school year, programming - python and java script, co-teaching with Kahn Academy, even Reverse Polish Notation - RPN for Hewlett Packard calculators) Our family considers Kamlapati a family friend. He takes interest in the boys other activities and sports, and he has been able to see them grow up - elementary, middle, and high school. He is someone that the boys can talk to...even if the talks have nothing to do with math or programming. It is evident that Kamlapati truly enjoys what he does. He is a gifted tutor, mentor and friend. read more

Very happy with Dennis the tutor. He's been tutoring my 13 and 15 year old sons math for over a year and they both like him and we feel it's really helping. Dennis is extremely attentive and follows up with us on a consistent basis to make sure the kids are meeting their goals and our expectations. read more

Heather has been our language tutor for our daughter who started high school during pandemic. I have received so much amazing help from AJ tutoring and I definitely recommend them! read more

I can clearly see the progress my son has made with Sarah's help and would highly recommend using AJ tutoring. read more

It was fine but it just didn't help very much. There was no improvement from the practice test before tutoring and after tutoring. It also didn't really help with test anxiety. There was nothing really wrong with it. Its just expensive and we did not see the value. read more

Ryan Li helped my daughter for preparation for SAT. My daughter benefited substantially, and saw improvement of 130 points in her score from the previous SAT she took. Ryan always answered my questions/queries almost instantaneously - via text, via email or a phone call. He reminded my daughter of all the appointments and gently reminded her to complete the homework. He carved out the practice tests that she should take, and went over what she missed in the practice tests. Recently college board published practice tests 9 and 10. I received those tests from Ryan a few days before college board advertised them to me. Ryan was always very enthusiastic. My daughter felt extremely comfortable working with Ryan. read more

My son recently completed SAT prep with Payson Marsh in the Los Gatos office. I could not be more satisfied with the results. All the arguing in our house disappeared once I turned my son over to Payson who is VERY well suited for coaching/tutoring teens. His style is non-judgmental, he has many practical tips and useful test taking strategies for his students, he genuinely cares about helping those he works with improve, he is flexible and he has great follow-through. Most importantly Payson has been a calming force for my son who had been feeling tremendous pressure to do well on the SAT. While my son has tried a few other SAT prep resources, Payson is the only resource my son said made a true difference in how he was thinking about and approaching the SAT. The increase in confidence my son exhibited after each session was striking and he looked forward to meeting with Payson each and every time, a real testament to Payson's ability to connect and help. I highly recommend Payson - tutoring time with him is money very well spent. read more

AJ tutoring has been very helpful for me! I did one on one SAT prep last year and math tutoring with Lan Do. She was amazing and I brought my score up by 100 points after working with her. I would highly recommend her. The office is in a convenient location, the tutors are very professional and email you back very quickly. I personally enjoy getting snacks and the rolly ranchers. This year I have tutor Ian and Heather and they are both very good and very knowledgeable. There tutors seem to book out very fast so sometimes it's hard to get on the schedule. It's a bit pricey compared to other places but there program is well established, very organized and they seem like they know what they are doing. I have had a great experience with AJ tutoring and would highly recommend it! read more

My son scored a 35 on the ACT! John Richard is amazing. We started at the Los Gatos location & when John Richard moved to Los Altos my son never questioned following him there. Even in traffic!
