FYI: The take out size per container is good for 5 people. We asked how many people does one take out container feed and they said 2. So we got two lamb orders and 6 people ate it and we still had left overs for 2 days!!! Could be a marketing scheme so people would buy more. But overall yummy food. read more

I LOVE that Tsawassen has a new locally-owned restaurant. Keep 'em coming! I had a serious craving for butter chicken and naan bread the other night so I hopped on Yelp and searched for Indian cuisine close to my house. Lucky me, Roy's was just down the street, so I put in an order for pick up. I actually knew that Roy's was here for about a year now, but never had the opportunity to check them out, so this was the perfect excuse. Their straightforward website made it really easy to order online. Everything was organized perfectly and I found what I was looking for very easily. I stayed fairly loyal to the butter chicken, but a few of the other things on their menu caught my eye - the chicken xacutti, chicken vindaloo, and prawn curry to name a few. I love, love, love naan bread, so I ordered quite a few pieces. Turns out that their naan is HUGE. Like, humongous. Like, I ordered 4 and only ate 1 because they were so large. Lucky for me, my family loves naan and leftovers, so they happily ate the other 3 pieces of naan. They have a potato and pesto naan that also looked very tempting - will definitely try this next time! When I walked into the restaurant to pick up my food, the owner, Lopa, greeted me right away. I briefly chatted with her and she told me that they were just coming up on their 1 year anniversary and that they opened up their patio for the season - two very, very exciting things! For my butter chicken + naan bread + tip, I paid a little less than $30, which I think is a great deal for how big the portions were. If I'm at home and craving butter chicken again, I'll definitely be back. read more

When Roys first opened, we ordered a lamb vindaloo and it was very good. Ordered for my birthday this week and it was atrocious. Not only was it watery, there was absolutely no taste. This is worrying when you are buying a spice based dish!Since when has a vindaloo been bright yellow and no potatoes? We paid $50 for 2 curries and 2 samosas, seems like the quality and care has gone. Won't ever be going back and can't wait for Connaught Gardens to reopen. read more

Naan does not seem to be made in a proper tandoori clay oven, was a bit undercooked. Food can not compare to authentic Indian food but the quality of meat is there. Lamb and chicken were both tender and portions were big. The curries were not flavorful enough in terms of spice or just general flavor. But a decent approximation for authentic Indian food here in Tsawwassen. read more

Not many restaurants around here, but chose to stop by Roy's after crossing the border and we weren't disappointed! Staff was very cordial and gave complimentary lentil soup as a starter. Dad ordered the lamb chops, which was one of the priciest items but it turned out to be one of the tastiest dishes and the favorite of the table. I have been here twice and my total order was the following - spinach fritters, crab pakados beet and potato chat, lamp chap with quinoa rice, malai tikka and one of the desserts mango one. This is the first time in BC that a restaurant has not disappointed me and I have been to too many to count. Everything is spectacular , whether it is the flavor Palate or presentation or service. The chef, Roy gives every one the patrons individual attention and when I walked in for the second time after several weeks, he recognized me and greeted me warmly and even though I asked for less spicy cuz my Partner is allergic to Chillies , he gave me pickled chilly on the side which was so thoughtful. It's a small family run place but it is the best Indian fusion I have had since coming to Vancouver. Thanks Roy and team. Great menu, although not the classic northern Indian one that most might be accustomed to. I had the paneer peas masala, which was good. My dining companion had a chicken masala, which was lovely. Naan was good, service was good. The ambience is a bit bare & you can hear everything going on in the kitchen, but otherwise we had an enjoyable experience. read more

We were crossing the border back into Canada and super hungry for dinner. Found this on a quick search and wow so impressive. Good food, excellent service, and really wonderful environment. We got the eggplant and it was the best I've had in the vancouver area. The naan was also great and was very different than most naans we have previously had. Usually getting something like rosemary, it is generally lacking in flavor but not the naan here. Perfectly seasoned and really flavorful. Will def come back again. 4th time back at Roys in Tsawwassen because it is that AWESOME!!!! We Tsawwassanites are over the moon an Indian restaurant of this high calibre have opened up here so now need not travel to Cambie Street in Vancouver and line up for an hour outside of VIJs. The quality of food and service here are exceptional and the ambiance is fantastic! Each time, we return for the Manchurian cauliflower like a pakora but with a sweet and sour indian sauce that is to die for. Their prawn, these 8 HUGE prawns, Malai curry is divine! The prawns are full of flavor and the curry sauce is over the moon. I twice ate in the restaurant and twice did a take out. I like to see the dine in give more curry sauce as it is needed for the generous basmati rice. I know I will be asking for a little bit more of the curry sauce next time I dine in. Most curries are about $17 which comes with a side of basmati rice and it is a good portion. Bravo to Roy's and Lopa's hard work and dedication to open up in Tsawwassen this AMAZING dining venue for all of us to enjoy! Thank you! read more

Overall lousy experience. We had the 7-course chef's sampler. The dishes were very small and only six courses were served. The waitress then offered us a Bailey's on the Rocks as our seventh course as a consolation prize? The whole restaurant seems unorganized and our meal took over two and a half hours. My favorite part is that the bathroom opens up right into the dining room so you get a good view of everybody coming out of the can. The final bill was about $135 and we left hungry. Wow. Nice addition to Tsawwassen, a definite must. Small quaint and attentive. The food is very good, the cauliflower, chilli gobi was excellent and the chicken Bengali was a favourite. Only 9-10 tables and it was busy. This could become a quick favourite if the keep their prices in check. The alcohol is cheap and they don't gouge you, priced and serving size very reasonable. The dessert menu is designed, written from autistic children along with the recipes, very nice touch. read more

What a gem! Roy's is really something special. The food is magnificent. The owners and staff are just the kindest. And the prices are super fair. After a fun (but tiresome) vacation out on the islands, our family stumbled across Roy's and we couldn't have been more pleased. This place checks all the boxes. I've eaten here three times. it's alright, but not the best. It's never spicy enough even when I ask for it spicy. Just doesn't seem as authentic as other places I have been to. Service is excellent, they gave my mom a complimentary soup once when she was waiting for a take out order that was taking a while because it was busy.
