Used to be the Connaught, now the Clay Oven remodeled by the son with mom working magic in the kitchen.

Clay Oven - Delta, BC (And no, not the one in Calgary!)…read more After living in the Lower Mainland for years, I can't believe it took me two decades to finally walk into Clay Oven in Delta -- a restaurant that has quietly been serving the community for 20 years. Consider me officially late to the party, but very glad I showed up. The first thing you notice is the renovation. The space feels fresh, warm, and modern -- hanging lights, greenery, and a cozy ambiance that makes you want to linger. The updated interior gives the restaurant a new‑life glow without losing its welcoming, family‑run charm. Now, the food. My husband and I ordered a lineup of classics to really test the kitchen: - Pani Puri - Crisp, tangy, refreshing. A fun, bright start to the meal. - Fish Pakora - Hot, tender, and well‑seasoned without being greasy. - Butter Chicken - My personal benchmark dish. If an Indian restaurant can't get this right, they might as well close their doors. Clay Oven passed with flying colours. Creamy, balanced, and deeply flavourful. - Naan Bread - Soft, warm, and perfect for scooping up every last drop of sauce. - Basmati Rice - Fragrant and fluffy, exactly as it should be. - Mango Lassi - Smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet -- the ideal finish. What impressed me most was the consistency. Every dish felt intentional, well‑executed, and rooted in the kind of confidence that only comes from a kitchen that's been doing this for 20 years. Clay Oven isn't flashy, and it doesn't need to be. It's the kind of place you return to because the food is comforting, the service is warm, and the experience feels genuine. I'm just annoyed at myself for not discovering it sooner. Verdict: A Delta staple that deserves more attention -- and now that I've found it, I'll be back regularly.

This is a fairly new restaurant in Tsawwassen. The son took the restaurant over from his parents…read more It is new and the decor matches the theme of this Indian restaurant. Everything is new looking at this time. I found the service a bit slow for my liking. Both the owner and Pika serve everyone. Pika is very outgoing and not shy to talk about herself. She has lived overseas and has settled in Vancouver. Now the food. It is of course Indian. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants locally and downtown. The food heats beats every one hands down. We started off with the assorted appetizer platter. Fabulous. We had naan and roti. The roti came hot and the naan at a perfect temperature. All of us raved about the Tandoori shrimp. Although is says shrimp it is prawns. Butter chicken was one dish. It was fabulous. The chicken was chunky and there was lots, enough to feed 6 people with good portions even though there were 4 of us. Our last dish; omg, the lamb Korma. Big chunks of lamb in a sauce. I have never had lamb that literally melts in your mouth. It is worth the trip from anywhere in the lower mainland. Lots of lamb, enough to feed 4 of us and had lots of left over. It was the best lamb I ever had. Make reservations as the place is small.
