TL;DR - Royce Chocolate is a great spot if you're looking for a gift or just want to treat yourself to some high-quality Japanese chocolate. The selection is huge, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and the chocolate texture felt very different from the typical chocolates I usually get. The shop itself felt a little small, but overall I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. There were so many eye-catching options that I was honestly a little overwhelmed in a good way. Everything is made in Japan, and the staff patiently explained the different chocolate types, which I really appreciated. Some of the chocolates also have liquor in them, so definitely be aware of that if you're buying for someone else or trying to avoid alcohol. I honestly don't even remember exactly which one I got, but I do remember being impressed by the texture. It was smooth and different from the usual chocolates I buy, and I'd give the chocolate itself a 5 out of 5. Service was also a 5 out of 5 for me. They were friendly, patient, and made the experience easy. There is plenty of parking, and they also offer gift wrapping, which makes this an especially good place for gifts. I have never had Japanese chocolate before and getting to not only try it but hear how it's made and how the business got started was very interesting. The ladies there are super awesome. The chocolate literally melts in your mouth. I got to try the Nama Chocolate which is super delicate but decadent at the same time. One thing of note: the Nama Chocolate has to stay refrigerated. When you buy Nama Chocolate, they pack it in a thermal bag with an ice pack so it will survive the ride home. The chocolate is a bit pricy but I will say well worth it. Plus...it's coming from Japan...this is way cheaper than a plane ticket! read more

Thanks to the Yelp experience I found out about Royce Chocolate located in John's Creek in the H-Mart plaza. This was my first time trying Japanese chocolate and it was so good. Each sample I tried was smooth, creamy and melts in your mouth. The alcohol infused ones were nice but my favorite surprisingly to me was the matcha. Royce in Johns Creek is fantastic. It's conveniently located in the same plaza as H Mart with easy parking. I've been here a few times, and everyone is always so friendly and knowledgeable. The Nama collection is by far my favorite. I've never had anything like it before. Even friends who don't usually care for chocolate were amazed by how good it is. We entered the store and were pleasantly surprised with how well organized the chocolates were presented. The service at Royce is exceptional! The kind lady who helped us to samples was very knowledgeable about the different chocolates. My friends and I were super fans of the Nama chocolate. There are so many different kinds of Nama chocolates you can get, I wish they had a box of all of them! Texture and flavor wise, the Nama chocolate was smooth, decadent and delightful. We also enjoyed the Strawberry Fruit Bar which was described as an "elevated KitKat bar" and had strawberry and mango pieces. We also purchased the chips with chocolate but personally didn't think they were worth the price point. Disappointed by an Unpleasant Experience I've been a customer of this chocolate store for many years. But during a recent visit with my child, I had such an unpleasant experience that I won't be returning. We arrived a few minutes before closing, and the staff made it very clear we weren't welcome. There was no warmth, no kindness -- especially disappointing with a small child in tow. They refused to offer a sample, were cold throughout the interaction, and seemed more focused on closing than treating customers with any care. I still bought three boxes of chocolate, but quickly realized I had picked the wrong flavor. I turned around right away to exchange an unopened box -- only to be met with a firm "no" and a reference to corporate policy. Rules aside, what really bothered me was the complete lack of basic courtesy or flexibility. The staff seemed robotic and indifferent, with no effort to connect or show care for a returning customer. This isn't a one-of-a-kind chocolate store. There are plenty of others I can go to, and after this experience, I will. I hope management takes this seriously, because this kind of service turns people away -- even those trying to support your business. read more

This is the first time I've seen a Royce' standalone shop! Usually it's in an Asian grocery store or in a Las Vegas mall or casino. This store is very small and intimate but it seems to have most of the Royce' products. They had samples of their chocolates including the famous Nama chocolates. My parents really liked the Nama chocolates so we bought the Ecuador Sweet one which is less sweet than the milk chocolate. I have been a huge fan of Royce' Nama chocolates for many years and it still tastes just as good. It's very soft and creamy and just melts like butter. I have to resist eating so many pieces in one sitting! The store attendant was also really nice and patient with us for the samples. The texture and mouthfeel isn't quite like any other chocolate we'd had before, without being overpoweringly sweet or bitter. It's a small store, but lots of selection to choose from. They have their regular chocolate on the left and a display of seasonal on the right. We were greeted right away and told about a promotion where you get a box of nama chocolate and a cooler bag with Christmas selection box. We were overwhelmed by the choices and it was quite crowded in this Sunday afternoon. We did end up with the Christmas selection and it was wrapped nicely and ready to be gifted. Don't forget to Virgin check in for your bag of chocolate bars. I was a little disappointed where we weren't really taken care of and I had to seek the employees for any questions I had. Also, they didn't offer any samples and I am spending $80 on chocolate that I have no idea what it tastes like. Maybe they are overwhelmed with the amount of people there that day. Such a cute little store, I was not familiar with Japanese chocolate so this was a new treat for me. I loved the creaminess of the chocolate and the subtle flavors. It's definitely perfect for savoring. I tried a few nama chocolates (Champagne, Bitter, and Ghana bitter). The Ghana and the regular Bitter were very close in flavor, but I ended up buying the Bitter simply because of the slight alcohol infusion. I also tried the chocolate wafers matcha and the cherry cube. I'm not typically a cherries and chocolate person, but the flavors were perfect and I'd definitely try them again. Overall love the chocolates and will definitely visit again when they have nama chocolate matcha available. Royce Chocolate finally opening in Georgia? And out of all places my hometown JC?! This was extreme news to me and I know I had to check it out. The fact that Royce finally opened in Georgia just means that Georgia is on its way to become a big name state, and it's absolutely fantastic. I'm not a HUGE fanatic of Royce, but I do enjoy their chocolate from time to time and since they opened, it is definitely worth checking them out. We visited, and the location is relatively small -- there isn't much walking room and you're exposed to the selection they have. They also have samples available (not Nama Chocolate - the signature Royce item) but you can try the chocolates out. My friend got the Au Lait Royce Nama Chocolate for $19.99 and what's nice about Royce is that they give you an icebag thingy that makes the chocolates cool for about 2-3 hours. We got it and did the unboxing right away. Immediately, I noticed that Royce doesn't put the mini forks anymore in the boxes which was a huge disappointment as the chocolate is usually smothered in ganache/cacao powder. Also, I don't know if my palates, standards and expectations have increased but it doesn't taste as good as I remember. It used to be more chewy and had a stronger flavor, but I couldn't get that this time around. Nevertheless, Royce is a great-tasting product and it's not bad, but I was just slightly underwhelmed. I would still come here to buy gifts and whatnot, but I don't know if I would purchase these chocolates for a whopping $19.99. Still, I'm very happy that we have such a high-end product in Georgia and it makes my inner-JC self happy (even though I don't live here anymore lol). read more

Located in the H-mart plaza next to the AT&T store. The storefront was not very obvious when we visited since they are still in the middle of setting up the store. The only indication was posters on the window. The store itself was also just set up in the front half of the space. And because of that, it currently looks like a popup. But it's in the Johns creek hmart plaza, in between the metro bank and AT&T! Even though it's a small store, they still have lots to offer! I was really tempted to get the wafers, but I couldn't resist to get the Ghana bitter chocolates. It's a dark chocolate flavor that is rich. If you haven't had Royce chocolate before, the texture isn't hard. Even though the chocolates are kept cold, it's not hard. It almost melts in your mouth. They do have a variety pack with different assortments of chocolates and wafers. But I was just really focused on the Ghana bitter. I am SO EXCITED to finally have Royce chocolate in Atlanta and not just that, right by my parents' house. They are world known for their Nama chocolate, the melt in your mouth kind! I used to get this from Japan and fly it back. They pack it with a special cooling packaging bc the Nama chocolate specifically needs to be refrigerated. Have you ever had Japanese chocolate before? I haven't. My friend told me about ROYCE opening in Johns Creek so we came here to check it out. After one sample, I was pretty much sold. What makes these chocolates different? I would have to say that it's not too sweet, but at the same time it's not dense as your typical chocolates and more creamy. American chocolates to me is just filled with a ton of corn syrup and just so extremely sweet that it's unbearable. That, and I don't have a sweet tooth. I usually just stick to my European chocolates (I can never go back), but now I can say that Royce is a choice that I can fall back on. Right now, it's a bit hidden, but this location is the final spot for their store front. They will still have the same front of the store as it's pretty bare bones if you go in today. But they will be doing a full reno in December and in the new year they will be fully operational. I'm looking forward to seeing it! In the time being, you can still go in and check it out and buy chocolates. I would definitely recommend. Their chocolates have less than 1% of alcohol in them, there's actually only 2 "alcohol free" chocolates. I did also want to say most of the alcohol is burned off during the cook so there isn't really any alcohol in them. We bought a box of the dark bitter chocolates along with one of their Bar chocolate "Nut", which is just a super upgraded Kit-Kat bar. And it's really, really, good. I know it's ruined it for me. I've always had a love for kit-kat, but now ROYCE has ruined it for me. Definitely recommend anyone who loves premium chocolates to come and check out Royce. read more

I have experienced chocolate in many flavors, textures and combinations. Royce does not disappoint. I walked in to experience Japanese Chocolate at it's finest and to try the samples that were out for customers. The representative that worked there was extremely knowledgeable about the company as well as the taste and textures that would suit the palate when it came to his descriptions of the chocolate. I loved the texture of the Nama chocolate in all forms. Think melt in your mouth truffle but without the hard shell of chocolate on the outside. When I was there a woman came in and replenished her supply of their cookies... This caught my attention, so OF COURSE I had to buy cookies! And omg! Bet you can't have just one. Such a unique taste, from the chocolate to the airy/crispy wafer that puts you in mind of a chocolate covered scone. The chocolate is delicious and gourmet. I will spread the word! The store is going to close at some point during the year to remodel and renovate, but FOR SURE will be reopening. So do not be discouraged if it appears to be that time... THEY NEED MORE SPACE FOR CHOCOLATE... DUH :) Check out my selections... all were amazing and BONUS... I got a box of my favorite chocolate that they offer... The Dark Chocolate infused with Cognac.
