I love their oxtails. Everything I have tried was very good, but the oxtails are my favorite!

The food was delicious- nicely spicy veggie plate with plenty of fresh vegetables and rice. The…read moreJamaican beef patty was typical of the dish; not bad, but not fantastic. We had ordered light because we'd had a late lunch, and this was plenty for both of us. I should have written this review sooner so I would remember exactly what we spent, but it was quite reasonable. If you're visiting the nearby Whirligig Park as we were, this was a nice little walk- just a few minutes up the road. Next time we're in town, we will definitely be back!

The reviews no matter how old are true!…read more This is not anywhere near how an oxtail plate should taste, look, nor smell (it's not bad but not like oxtail "basically boiled meat"). The meat was 3 pcs with loads of fat as you can see (thought it was dumplings ) and about 7 SUPER SUPER SUPER tiny pcs. Honestly it was very reminiscent of Golden Corrals roast flavor, look, and smell. OMG this plate is definitely a $15 option being that you're barely giving the customer anything. I will gladly pay $30 for an oxtail plate as money is not the issue but quality is what we're missing here. So let me start with I called to place a pickup order and 2 people answered. I was told to just come in it only takes 3min. I arrived and waited a hot 10. Also it was dark and very uninviting which was kind of weird. Customer service was not huge and iykyk fine. I ordered and added a beef patty of which I was told was mild. It was spicy which was ok because that's what I wanted that actually tasted fine. The sides were not tasty at all I do not trust to try any other options because this is the test for most Caribbean restaurants. In my book I'm putting a Gordon R sticker by this place as it's TOAST. Try at your own risk which is what I did but the people have spoken and for a huge first I agree with them!!! SN: if the restaurant doesn't show you the plate before you leave just know you're gonna regret it

Keep in mind that I like it real spicy so probably not for the faint at heart. The rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains were all cooked to perfection! I'm here for work from Delaware so it was a roll of the dice and I got a seven! Best decision I made all week. I ordered enough food to get me through my entire trip, but if I happen to overindulge, I'll be back during this trip. The ambiance was perfect as I felt like I was back on the island. Been to Jamaica a few time and they did a great job creating it right here to Rocky Mount! The service was excellent as they kept the Jamaica experience going. The chef came out of the back to ensure that everyone was enjoying the food which I secretly believe he knew we were! Anytime and I mean anytime I'm back in the area, I'll be heading right back to D Chill Spot!

REALLY friendly counter service and the folks having dinner there were also a blast! My wife got the Ox Tail and vegetables, and I got a vegetable medley of collards, cabbage, beans and rice, a few tomatoes, and plantains. the cabbage was VERY VERY VERY salty, I might hope and error in the kitchen. The collards were nice and the plantain crisp on the outside but not dried out or hard on the inside...... tasty! Great service, pretty clean spot and the kitchen service area looked tidy and clean. Give it a go!!!

For $23, which I know is pretty standard for oxtail, I expected more meat. I got about three or four medium-to-large pieces, but the rest were really small. My husband went with the curry chicken. I tried a bite and didn't care for it. He said it was okay but felt like his rice and peas were dry. I think the gravy from my oxtails saved my meal because otherwise, mine would have been dry too. Customer service from the gentleman at the counter was nice, but the vibe in the lobby threw me off. A short fat woman who was an employee kept going in and out, pacing around, and at one point, she bumped into me without saying excuse me. That definitely left a bad taste in my mouth before I even got my food. I ordered dessert, and that was a total miss. The rum cheesecake tasted like straight rum. No sweetness, no cheesecake flavor... just strong alcohol. Honestly, I threw it away. The food was average, the dessert was a no go, and the overall experience wasn't great. We won't be back.

Ive never had oxtail before and I probably won't order it again even though it was tasty. It was a little too rich for me. The plantains were cooked to perfection and the cabbage was a surprise because it tasted almost creamy it was so good. The meat patties were coated in the traditional curried pastry and had just enough spice to have a nice kick. I couldn't tell the difference between the mild and the spicy but enjoyed sampling both. Just to give you an idea of the spice level, I usually order Indian food "mild", maybe a medium when I'm feeling rebellious. The Mac & Cheese is how I like it best. Fresh grated cheddar melted with hot macaroni. Next time I'll try the Goat Curry because I've never had goat and I'm curious about their curry. There's a hallway between them and Bays Seafood so you can order from both menus. At this time they seem to be still be set up for mostly takeout. There are a few places to sit but there is no ambiance.
