Both times we had AYCE, tell me why the second time as soon as I left this place I felt sick of my stomach accompanied by sharp pain which was no fun. I had almost the same things I had the first time. The Mexican roll was delicious I did notice the Tuna was slightly worm maybe that's what got me sick. Everything else was great. Hadn't been in a long time. They changed things up and made it larger. They increased the AYCE to $31.99, but kids thankfully are less at $9.99. My kiddo and I really enjoyed our meal. Pains me to write reviews like this, especially when you got a friendly staff. Sure the place could use some renovation but it's not terrible. Where I was really disappointed was in the rolls. Seems any roll that has the word crispy is filled with what seems to be a low grade panko to be charitable and it gives those rolls a really unpleasant texture. We're from out of town and we were excited given we had seen a very high rating. To be fair, not everything was bad, the shumai and gyoza for example were good. Some other rolls were ok, others not great but when I see these restaurants cutting corners trying to save a few bucks. Just charge me more and do away with the trashy food. read more

Showed up at 8:10pm to have dinner at Royal Sushi where me and my family have been to over 10 times. They close at 9pm, when we arrived we were told we had 10 minutes to order from the kitchen, and I said ok great we have our order ready. Within 5 minutes we had our order ready to go, the girl who stated that "the server is already off, so I'll be your server" at first was very kind. However, it got weird when we requested miso soups, her immediate response was, "we are out of miso soups" and I said oh no that's one of the main reasons we came here tnite. She then said let me see if we can get them for you. I said ok great handing in our order. She came back with 5 whole miso soups, I was extremely grateful. Then I asked 2 of them are supposed to be spicy miso, she then decided to respond, "spicy miso soup is not included in the AYCE", and I responded with "that's weird because every time we come here they give us spicy miso soups, it's just a dash of crushed pepper" and then she says "well we told you we were closing soon" to which I responded, yes we put the order in immediately before your kitchen closed". Either way, they should say they close at 8pm or 8:10pm instead of saying you close at 9pm. We drove 8 miles to be looked at crazy by the kitchen staff and have the server give us a bunch of attitude. We left with our heads down . Looks like we will not be coming back for our 11th visit. read more

My favorite is the Snow Mountain (8 Pcs) Inside is shrimp tempura and cucumber, topped with crab meat, a wasabi tobiko mixture, and is drizzled with tempura crunch and a light and creamy coconut sauce. DELICIOUS! Love it. We also tried the dragon roll and the Sake. The salmon was very fresh and the dragon roll was delicious as well. I also like Octopus Fish Balls. Its very flavorful. This was a nice find, when I was looking for an AYCE sushi restaurant near where I was staying (near O'Hare Airport). It was located within 10 minutes driving or so from the airport, which is convenient. Price was reasonable, a lot $27 for dinner. Menu choices were not as expansive as in some other AYCE places I have been in, on the West Coast but good enough. The robot brining you some food items is a very nice touch, added to the fun experience as you don't see this in other places. Service was neutral, at best, overall indifferent. From the greeting at the entrance to the server. I was motivated to come tho this restaurant due to the proximity to O'Hare and the 4-Star reviews. Frankly, I don't see that; the food was decent from the fish quality/freshness but the nigiri was overloaded with rice. I really get annoyed when AYCE restaurants do this; I would rather see less fish than having to remove almost 1/2 the amount of rice so I don't get bloated with fillers. Not sure I would visit again, perhaps one more chance Is warranted. I hope management trains its servers to be a bit more personable and, mainly, ease up on the rice. This place is nice. Sushi came out fast and fresh. They have "all you can eat" sushi for $32 per person but the downside is they charge $1.00 per slice that is left without being eaten. Also, if you come with another person, you order your one sushi dish + appetizer and the person you came with, orders the "all you can eat" they can your food with you but you can't have any of their sushi. Highly recommend the downers grove roll and the snow mountain roll also, try the coconut shrimp as an app!! My family went with my and wife when we were in Chicago since it was easier for them to get to than Sushi Para which we used to have in DC. I have been to several all you can eat sushi places and this is the best I have ever been to. There are so many signature rolls, regular rolls, nigiris, and appetizers to choose from and everything we had was amazing. Our favorite rolls were the Sai-Fornia, Mexican Maki, Mango Tokyo, and Sweet Summer the last which is a vegetarian roll with green apples that was very unique to this place. To drink we had sake and Sapporo and we also had delicious mochi for dessert. They have plenty of seating so we didn't have to worry about reservation and it was not cramped or crowded at all. One up compared to any other place is the BLUE SKY roll (it even looks like the Chicago flag)- try it, you won't be disappointed.
