I've gotten food from here three times and it's been good each and every time. From the fried fish to the cornbread to the cobbler (both peach and apple), I love everything I've had. I'm proud to support a black-owned business, and even more so on Juneteenth, as they continue to provide elite customer service, each and every time I've ordered whether through a food ordering app or in person. I really like that they answer their phones and are ready to answer questions promptly. The restaurant is located in the beautiful neighborhood of Bedstuy and is a staple in the community. There are a few tables and chairs in the restaurant which are nice for sitting and waiting for your food or if you want to eat it there. Another thing I notice is that the food is always fresh, and always hot in my experience. I have Royal Rib House labeled as one of my favorite spots and I highly recommend them. read more

Royal Rib House - Fried Fish À La Carte, macaroni & cheese, collard greens, and peach cobbler - Barbeque Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

If you open at 1230, food should be ready to serve your customers. I shouldn't have to wait an hour for my food once I ordered. Royal Rib phas got to do better. Food is good but I'll find another spot to spend my money before I wait over an hour to recieve my food. I left after an hour waiting and left with no food, smh. My time is valuable and so is my money which I'll be spending elsewher! read more

Unfortunately, my experience at Royal Rib NYC was disappointing. Some items definitely need a little work. The mac and cheese was not something I would order again, as it lacked the flavor and texture I was expecting. The collard greens were extremely spicy for some reason, which overpowered the dish for me. The ribs had a funky pork taste that I didn't enjoy, and the peach cobbler was so mushy that I found it inedible. The fried chicken was just ok for me. The portions were decent, but overall the food just wasn't to my liking at all. Hopefully, this was an off day, but based on this visit, I wouldn't return. The owner & staff were great. read more

The only thing wrong is they fry their fish just a little too long sometimes otherwise this place is great and always has been. I remember buying their food and gallons of their bbq sauce from the old location. read more

I've passed by this place for years, and finally decided to order fried chicken. Unfortunately, it tasted like old oil, and I'm pretty sure they cooked it in cheap, trashy oil. The chicken was dry and salty, and the ribs were just okay. I did enjoy the BBQ sauce, though pit has a nice tang. The mac and cheese was terrible; the cheese was congealed rather than melted, and the noodles were overcooked. The collard greens were good, but pairing them with the tangy ribs was a bit overwhelming. The cornbread was nastyI won't be ordering from here again. I think the BBQ sauce works best on chicken, not ribs, which I believe should have a smoky flavor. The ribs fell off the bone easily, which isn't impressive since that's pretty standard. I spent $45 on Uber rides and wasted my time and money. The person who made the mac and cheese clearly doesn't understand the science of good cheese you need a funky cheese, a melting cheese, and a flavorful cheese. Instead, it was just congealed cheese on overcooked noodles. Overall, takeout here is disappointing, and I prefer cooking my own meals to avoid this kind of trash. read more

Food- 2/5 Service- ok Ambiance- ok This used to be a place that one would guarantee a delicious meal... over the years things have changed. I had a taste for a pre Thanksgiving meal and therefore I ordered from Royal Rib House. My latest meal consisted of beef ribs collard greens potato salad yams and baked mac n cheese. The ribs were ok. The sauce was unique and it had a nice flavor. The texture was a bit strange so I couldn't eat them. The candy yams were heavy with the flavor of cinnamon. The Mac and cheese was a no. The cheese was not tasty and there wasn't any flavor. The greens were different... odd yet tasty thank God or I wouldn't have eaten. The potato salad was watery... over $50 worth of food and completely not worth it! No thumbs, no more ordering here. Thanks for the memories read more

Royal Rib House is my spot whenever I'm craving some real soul food. The meals taste just like they came straight from a home kitchen--comforting, flavorful, and always fulfilling. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The vibe inside is warm and inviting, music on point, just the kind of cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere. I come here often and they never miss--every visit is just as good as the last. If you want food that hits the spot and service that makes you feel at home, Royal Rib House is the place to be. Highly recommend! read more

All I can say is get over to this place ASAP. Food is great, not good but great!! The fried chicken and ribs were both excellent! Same for the greens! I am from out of town felt compelled to leave this review since our experience was so memorable! Parin read more

I wanted delicious fried fish and knew I had to go to Bed-Stuy to get it. I went to Royal, a long time favorite and I was not disappointed. My first win was there was no line-it was a Friday afternoon. There's always a line! I ordered a whiting fish meal and as usual waited for the fish to be cooked. It's always worth the wait! My meal was so delicious! The fish was fresh and seasoned perfectly, without too much salt. The collard greens were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Royal has never disappointed me. It is always worth the 20 minute drive there and the wait to get a meal that is consistently satisfying. Also, the staff have always been pleasant and professional. Thanks Royal! read more

Run don't walk so good. The service is excellent . Of course the prices have gone up but, it is 2025 and look who is in the White House. The food is still good and you should try this gem. Robin Hibbler read more

I ordered this for delivery since I don't have patience to stand on a long line. I ordered Fried Chicken with potato salad, candied yams and a side of chopped bbq. The fried chicken was fairly moist and decently seasoned and a nice size breast and wing. Candied yams were decent. The potato salad was meh. Way to watery. I keep searching for a good restaurant potato salad and it seems hopeless. The chopped bbq was good and I would order it again, I just wish they had sent a side of bbq sauce with it. I'll try some of the other sides but the potato is a no for me read more

Royal Rib NYC has the best ribs and soul food in the city. The ribs fall off the bone and are perfectly complemented with Calvin's BBQ sauce. The greens, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes are a taste of home. The staff is friendly and fun, I definitely recommend you give it a try!! read more

An abundance of bay leaves in the barbecue ribs caused my wife to experience a chocking crisis. She said it felt like a razor blade stuck in her throat. I never heard of bay leaves being used in barbecue sauce. Be careful. Mac and cheese is more like pudding. Woody stems of greens are also stiff and could present swallowing problems. I have a lot of experience with should food. read more

They undercooked my beef ribs they were tough. The potatoe salad did not taste the same as the last time I purchased it. I did not like it. One order was incorrect. The cornbread tasted like it was a day old. The food is like potluck sometimes its good sometimes its not. Some customers were complaining how long it took to get their food. Carole and her husband and their team are definitely missed. They ran a tight ship. Jay seems to have a different time for when the food is ready than his listed hours. His attitude seems to be he doesn't give a dam about his customers. read more

I am so thankful I can order now through Uber Eats. As always, the food is amazing, I love the the fried chicken wings, and the ribs. As someone who can cook soul food, I must say that they do a darn good job themselves especially the greens with the with the spicy bite or the mac & cheese. For some reason, I am not sold with the cornbread, my previous orders the cornbread had a weird flavor like someone tried to add something different. This last order the cornbread was the way cornbread should be so maybe they improved on it or maybe they stopped adding whatever that ingredient is. Will continue to order from them. read more

*CORRECT HOURS* Sunday - Tuesday: CLOSED Wednesday - Saturday: 12:30 - 9pm Let's be real, the world is better with good BBQ. To have a meal from Royal Ribs feels like a reward. The entire team is friendly, the restaurant is always clean, and you can see the entire operation from the front of the restaurant. I love to see my food being prepared, and even better, I get to watch the chefs move from the grill to the counter and chop my food right before my eyes. Simply put, the ribs are delicious. They're liberally seasoned and smoked until it looks like meat candy. The notes of sticky fatty grilled goodness are amplified by the tender texture and generous flavor of the bbq sauce. Mustard based usually isn't preferred by me, but I must admit, it goes very well with the rib. The ribs are cohesive, plentiful, and finger licking good. The cornbread is soft, sweet, buttery, and not at all crumbly! It's more so on the cake side of texture and it is divine. Just go ahead and get extra. Every experience here is wonderful. Thank you Royal Rib for being a staple of Bedstuy! The food, team and chefs are all appreciated. *I should have taken photos but good food don't last long* read more

I arrived one hour after opening and brought the rib lunch . The ribs I got the texture was like saw dust and had no real taste. Their BBQ sauce I requested to be put on the side. Tasted outstandingly horrible! The service is just as bad. I waited 45 minutes for food. The long process was waiting for someone to cut the over cooked ribs! RUN! DON'T GO HERE! P.S. The collard greens was the ONLY star of this restaurant. read more

The ribs are the best!!! Whenever my family came to visit from NC they always requested to go to the Royal Rib House. Now that I'm living in Atlanta I am heartbroken. Their ribs cannot compete. I know I'm in love with the ribs but the sides were good also. Can't wait to get back to Brooklyn. read more

Amazing food. The service is slow so order if you can in advance. The food definitely makes up for the wait

Royal Rib House is good. The food is really good. The stars are the ribs, chicken, chopped barbeque, collard greens, cole slaw and peas & rice. The Mac and cheese is still a lil watery and not cheesy to my liking so I avoid it. I also get the peach cobbler. The ordering system is still old school (talk to the person by the door who WRITES down your order). Try to go early afternoon on the Thursday or Friday because it won't be crowded. Anytime after 3 PM good luck with getting out within a hour after placing your order. There is a better way of taking and fulfilling the orders and I wish they would reach out to someone for assistance in that aspect. The long wait times is what is preventing a 5 star review. read more

Best soul food in Bedstuy ever! My parents went there when they were on Howard Ave(?) back in the 70's (?). They have always been a favorite spot for me and now my grown children. I'm so happy that they are now closer to me! Cobbler and tater salad is better than sex! read more

I usually don't post. But reading all these reviews trashing this place. Like really this is a family spot : the food is amazing : they do a lot for the community: shit the owner is there from open to close. That's enough passion for me. Look if you don't have sometime nice to say. Why not just keep it moving : so negative it's just not necessary: Glad they don't have Uber or delivery: the people who come in for delivery are so rude. : maybe that's why they don't do deliveries: or maybe they just don't need too :business is good. So why make it more stressful : same reason why they only open thur to Sunday : cause they need the family time. It's a balance: And I called ahead for my food with no issue : read more

Like usual when you feed into the hype it's not what is seems smh! Wayyyyy over priced and wayyyyy overrated some ppp aren't use to good food and it shows. Let start off by saying I paid $27 for a beef rib dinner that was more bones then meat plz switch up the ribs those are trash just bones. Secondly how hard is it to make Mac and cheese the noodles were way over cooked it was swallowable like mash potatoes and bland. The candy were decent but I didn't eat them all I was too pissed with everything else. And I will say once I had my cornbread in the car I knew the food was gonna be trash, who messes up on cornbread at this point they should be making it from stratch. BBQS has better beef ribs and cornbread. I'll stick to my usual bed stuy fish fry on flatlands! read more

Sad that this spot is gone. It like disappeared in the middle of the night. It's weird too because it was always bustling with customers and the food was an after church staple. Fried fish was good, fries were soggy. They need to invest in other containers that don't make fried food soggy! Chopped bbq didn't have enough bbq sauce, was tough. I should have got the ribs! I've been going to Royal Rib since they were located on Halsey/Howard, that was many many many years ago. I moved and come from Long Island to get their food. I love their chopped BBQ with Cole slaw and ribs, Calvin's BBQ sauce is the best. Since reopening this year, the service is extremely slow ( maybe due to Covid and staff is short). They need to add delivery service and call in for pick up. I've been there twice and left because of the long wait. All in all the food is still good. read more

I got the opportunity to visit this place while visiting. The food here was AMAZING! PLEASE BE ADVISED, this place is only open Thursday- Saturday due to prepping their meats the days before. The people that worked there and the people that were ordering from there was even better! The environment gave me a down to earth and at home feeling. As for the food.....MAGNIFICENT! I ordered the BBQ Ribs plate with yams and Mac n Cheese. The yams were just the right amount of sweetness, the cornbread tasted like cake(which I LOVE), the Mac and cheese was seasoned to perfection and the ribs were extremely tender and savory! If I'm ever in Brooklyn again this place is definitely a spot I'd be revisiting! Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to take a picture of my food because I was SO hungry and anxious to eat! Sorry......not sorry. :) read more

Royal Rib House - Barbeque Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

The food is disgusting. I order the bbq chicken and the chopped bbq with 2 sides. The worst soul food I had in my life. The food tasted 3 days old. Nothing was fresh, nothing was recently made. It wasn't even hot when it came, the food was cold. The chicken was under cooked, the Mac and cheese was burnt and over cooked and the yams were not cleaned properly. The chopped bbq was a waste idk what that tasted like. Save your money and go else where. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never again. This is a disgrace to soul food. Highly disappointed and dissatisfied. Unbelievable! read more

Visited this spot for the first time.sinece the re-opening. The service was a breath of fresh air. Fantastic. The ribs were delicious, nice and tender and flavorful. The fried chicken was tasty, the fried fish could use some herbs in the seasoning..but otherwise very good. The greens were phenomenal!!! Delicious! The Mac and Cheese? y'all...very, very mediocre. The noodles were overcooked and it didn't have much flavor. I will sell y'all my Mac and cheese recipe for a smooth $400 and teach y'all how to make it. Deal? Let me know. Welcome back y'all. read more

We had short ribs, baked mac, coleslaw and cornbread! It was super super delicious. Also, the music was great!

Had my first stint at Royal Rib House today and they did not disappoint. I ordered the BBQ chicken dinner with a side of green beans, and collard greens. I also ordered a rack of pork ribs to try them out. The sides were very tasty. I enjoyed both of them a lot. The chicken was good. The ribs were good as well. They did not fall of the bone but they were tasty. The sauce is the amazing part of the meal. I could drink the sauce by itself. I slathered it on the ribs and the chicken to enhance both pieces of meat. I enjoyed it even with the wait of twenty to thirty minutes to be served. The service is friendly and the people are very nice. read more

The ribs are off the hook!!! The yams a good too! That's really all I get ! The BBQ sauce is delicious.

Go for the meat! The BBQ ribs and chicken fall right off the bone - the mild BBQ sauce with a bay leaf has such a good flavor. The fried options (chicken and fish) are so well-seasoned and crispy. 100% worth waiting in line, cash in hand, to take your food to the bar next door to eat. Service is kind and full of regulars. On the other hand.. those sides are not worth the trouble. Candies yams were undercooked, waited 45 minutes for macaroni and cheese, fries were nothing special, and they serve collard greens without any juice. read more
