We have had company moves, overseas moves, and sometimes moved ourselves in a U-Haul. The most efficient way in our vast experience, is not to load the truck until all items are checked off and sitting on the driveway, which was the way Mayflower did things decades ago. Apparently this crew was trained to take items straight into the truck and fit them in as best they could, so they had to partially unload and reload the truck because their packing space was quite limited compared to what their boss allotted for. Poor communication and planning, inefficiency all caused by the owner PLUS lack of coordination topped off by shouting rudeness and maltreatment in the end by the owner... it all adds up to a "never-again" pledge for this senior citizen. I paid 30% higher than I expected from the original quote and they left me frazzled.

Eventually, I called the number on the website, and after having to hold for an hour (!!!), I finally got a reply from a very helpful person, so I thought, "Okay, good, now we're going somewhere." That was a week ago. I never heard back. I called the person who is supposed to organize this, but he didn't answer his phone, and we still don't have an estimate. The funny thing is that we hired another two guys (Alec and Trevor) to move furniture for us, and they did a great job. It seems like there's a serious disconnect somewhere.

They said I qualified for a free in person estimate and could have them come out the following Friday. The estimate went smoothly and the gentleman left and said he would email the estimate to us and we could secure it with a deposit through their portal and the info would be in the email. The email I did receive had the estimate for 5 movers for 6 hours but no portal access or way to secure it so I immediately called that same day and waited on hold for an hour before they told me they would have someone from the local office call me. No one called and because of the holiday weekend no one was in the office until the following Tuesday. I called first thing Tuesday morning and they again said someone from the local office would call me. No one did. I waited on hold for another hour and explained everything again and they put me on hold while they contacted the owner Matt directly. When they came back they said they were sorry and something had fallen through and they wouldn't be able to help me with the move anymore. This leaves me with an immediate upcoming move and scrambling to find help. This whole process could have been handled way better and this company was a referral from someone else. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone.

When you picture a leaky dishwasher, you probably imagine a puddle all over the floor, right? Well,…read moreours didn't make a scene; it just quietly did a number on our flooring and cabinets. By the time we caught on, we found ourselves in need of a full kitchen remodel! Before diving into that, though, we had to clear out the appliances. For us, that meant moving a gas stove, refrigerator, freezer, and our kitchen table. Being older folks, we definitely didn't want to tackle this ourselves! After some research, we decided to go with a local gem, 7 Brothers Moving in Olathe, Kansas. Honestly, it was one of the best decisions we could have made. I scheduled everything online, and then I heard from Quinn. He was super friendly and went over all the details with me. Their minimum service time is 2 hours, which totally makes sense because they are just that efficient! If they charged by the hour, they'd be in a tough spot. They arrived, moved our appliances, swept up the area, and took boxes and the table to the basement--all in under an hour! They even asked if I needed anything else done. I was blown away by their awesome service! It was a no-brainer to call them again when it was time to bring the appliances back into the kitchen. So, if you've got any moving to do, whether you're just rearranging things at home or making a big move, I can't recommend 7 Brothers enough. Here's their contact information.
