Royal Refuse feels like a "you get what you pay for" sort of deal. They're the smallest and cheapest trash company in town, but that means that you're, unfortunately, not going to get the same service and reliability as their larger competitors, especially if you're in an area where they have a lower presence. I live in north of the Events Center, and have had their service for 6 months. In that time, they've missed service twice. The first time was entirely their fault, and the second was because the city had blocked the road from one side while doing roadwork. With a larger company I probably would have received notice and/or they would have attempted the following day (I left my cans out an additional day just in case), but that wasn't the case with RR. I called them after the first missed service. They were appropriately apologetic and sent a truck out to pick up my trash the next day. Since I had room in my cans, I didn't bother calling in after the second miss. Ultimately, I understand other people's grievances against RR. I'm just a homeowner with a little trash that I want handled each week, and I was looking to save a few bucks each month. If you're looking to save a little money, are willing to put up with slightly less consistent service, and want to support a smaller local business, you can't go wrong with Royal Refuse. read more

Used for YEARS and never had a problem until about a month ago, the driver started leaving our blue can in our driveway EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Too which is more than 12 feet from where we left them. I called and they seemed to ve receptive and stated they would let the driver know. Today while parked in my driveway (getting ready to leave) the driver picked up the empty blue can and moved it over 12 feet and left it in the middle of our drive way right behind my car. Then proceeded to pick up the other can. (I really wish I could post the weekly videos from our ring camera to this review). So today I approached the driver because i felt like there was a lack of respect, understanding and communcation. When i approached the driver, I stated, "Hey, excuse me. I have a question. Is there a reason why you keep leaving our cans in the middle of our driveway," and pointed to our house. The gentleman smiled, smirked and said " well what would you like me to do with them." I replied "leave them where you found them." At this point after over a month of trying to be reasonable and professional, I made another phone call, too which was a conversation with zero accountability. Therefore, I don't want to work/pay for a service from a company that allows this type of disrespect to continue. It's unfortunate Josh and Chelsie allow this. Do better. read more

In the last couple of years all of us have been through a lot. People are stressed, businesses are understaffed. So when I write this I want to acknowledge that my experience may have been different in different times. My issue is not with Royal's price or the friendliness of their staff; both are great. The issue is they are not reliable. I wanted to work with a locally owned, smaller business, so I have stuck with them even as my needs went unmet. But here is the thing; I have to be able to rely on them to get my containers picked up. I am paying for the service, in advance and, when I come home from working out of town, I need to see empty bins. Yard and house waste keep accumulating, as does recycling. If they do not pick it up I have a problem. Once, in the almost two years I have been their customer, I forgot to put my containers out. A couple of times I mixed up whether it was recycling or yard wasters week. Obviously, they are under no obligation to pick these up before the next scheduled pickup... my fault, my problem. This week they missed my yard waste. I called and was told someone would come get it the next day. It was not picked up. This is the second time I have had this happen. A month or so ago a container did not get picked on time, because the driver had an emergency. After Christmas this year recycling wasn't picked up because of a change in scheduling. All of this is fair, and could be overlooked if it were not a recurring issue. I have had these same issues on at least five separate occasions in less than two years. I do not want Royal to fail. I like the idea that we have a choice in garbage/recycling services. In the final analysis, however, the company's problems are not my problems. I have paid for a service and I need to be getting it. And so here we are with me canceling their service and signing up with their large competitor. Their competitor never missed a pickup at any of the three different locations I used them. Never, not once in the 10 years I used them. Please meet your obligations, Royal. read more

I live in the Brookstone apartments at 457 W 8th Ave in an apartment facin the 7th St Alley right above the garbage cage. RR refuses to adequately chain and lock the cage with heavy duty chain and lock. So the cage is broken into and garbage gone through and tossed everywhere. When I've reported this and the flimsy chain and lock, I was told I could provide a better chain and lock. Just now their drivers dumped the garbage and pulled away before everthing was in their truck. So garbage spilled all down their truck and into the alley. Plus there was broken furniture on top of the recycle bin. So rather than making a second attempt to dump their mess in the alley and the broken furniture, they swept the garbage onto the commercial property across from the apartments and left the broken furniture on top of the recycle bin. When I confronted them about it, they were defensive and hostile, as was their maintenance man when I complained about the inadequate chains and locks. I've spoken with another younger driver and he says their requests for better chains and locks are ignored. To quote him, "Royal Refuse sucks." Indeed they do. Sanipac is the way to go. read more

I prepaid for a 30yd bin for almost $500 and was told each additional bin around $200. Then found out each bin is $500. They need to be clearer when telling customers about pricing. I thought it was more expensive the first time because of setup and processing fees and that's why 2nd and 3rd bins would be cheaper. read more

I LOVE these people!!! I work for a flooring company and I'm constantly calling them at the last minute to save us. I don't know how this ever became my responsibility...but I'm the one who calls to schedule the pick-ups, generally when the 20yd container is just about overflowing. Case in point... The container needed to be dumped and I had the scheduling on my list of things to due today. I get a call from one of my leads, who he tells me he's bringing in 450 sq ft of demo-ed flooring this afternoon and "sorry, I should've asked you to take care of it earlier in the week". Needless to say Rebecca saved me - a.g.a.i.n! This is no easy feat.....they have to come before 3:30 in the afternoon (time our vans roll in) and the container has to be specifically placed to accommodate all our vans. Strong start...weak finish which is unfortunate since I held a commercial account with this company for over 3 years, and was on Auto Pay the entire time, and was never late, not once, and I never missed a payment. When I called to terminate my service ASAP after all this time, the lady that answered the phone didn't even care enough about my business to ask me why I was terminating my service, or if there was anything that could be improved upon, or areas of concern. read more

Kind of strange to be writing a review about a garbage company, but they deserve it. I've lived in several communities across the west and I've found Royal Refuse to be the most friendly and understanding. In previous towns I've been in I've seen the garbage company walk out of their truck and put a note on a customer's pail saying they couldn't pick the garbage up because a car was parked too close. In contrast, with Royal Refuse, a couple times I've forgot to put my garbage bin out and they went out of their way and walked to my side front yard and got processed the pail for me (I try to not make it a habit). Another time the garbage bag got stuck in the bottom of the garbage pail because I forced it in there. I called them when I returned from work and they said 'no problem' and told me to just put it next to the garbage pail next pick up and they would get it. No questions blaming me for it or anything like that. The few times I've called they have been very friendly. read more

Royal Refuse Service is amazing. They also have a great friendly customer service. I am glad that I switch to Royal Refuse Service, and I have been very happy with their service. I forgot to put my cans out by the curb few times and the people who pick up the garbage in my street ALWAYS pulled them to the curb for me. They never miss a day getting my garbage. The previous company Zi use WOULD NOT pick up my garbage when I didnt put the cans in the right spot or the lid didnt close all the way. When I calledv about it they said THEY HAD RULE I MUST FOLLOW. THEY DONT MIND getting out of their truck to help people who sometimes get very busy and forget things pulling the cans out to the curb so that the garbage get taken away. The women on the phone said they have too many customers and won't be accepting new ones for a few weeks due to lack of equipment, and she said that by the time they will be able to accept new customers their monthly price will have gone up. She wasn't at all certain about the new price, she only knew that it would be between $5.00 to $10.00 more. I think it's a bit odd that they are having great buisniness and they feel the need to raise their price. read more

The driver actually yelled at me. I saw him drive up so I grabbed my trash real quick and the guy said no more cant you see the fucking things full so I flipped him off and threw it in the little gate area anyway. I'll be complaining to management ASAP. read more
