Avid shooter- I have NEVER been to a worse range. They admitted their equipment was broken after we rented it, but did not make it right. Was interested in renting fully automatic weapons. Prices are better than most places. They will fill your magazine up with only 10 out of 30 rounds. In my case, ALL the guns I fired jammed every few rounds. I rented one that was full auto, but ONLY SHOT SEMI. I asked to shoot a different gun because they ADMITTED it was broken. No can do. What a shit range with shit staff. They had zero RANGE SAFETY! You should try most things at least once. I was in Nashville for a bachelor party and that meant shooting guns. Since this was the only activity we needed to be sober for, we figured we'd do it first after getting in. Though this was not my first time, it was for the vast majority of the group. The staff at Royal Range took expert care of group and showed us the ropes of shooting hand guns and long barrel rifles. Bonnie, Art and Brian were the absolute best instructors and range managers anyone could ask for. They were all incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about firearms but also using them properly and safely. Art, Brian and Bonnie were diligent is showing us how to properly handle all the weapons we used and made it fun and engaging along the way. They have a large selection of firearms to rent while you are at the range and as well have a retail component. But what really sets this range apart from other ones that I have been to is the focus on training and safety. The staff knows what they are doing and comes in excited to share their extensive knowledge of firearms with the customers at the range. Whether you are a newbie who's only played Call of Duty or someone more experienced with firearms, they can help with training and improving your skill set. I'll definitely come back the next time. They have a VERY large selection of firearms and ammo. The guys here have always been helpful. Benjamin was notably helpful in my selection of my AR. I'd done a lot of research, but he was able to answer all the questions I still had about buying one. The employees have always been polite and eager to let me hold the firearms off the wall and out of the case. They're very knowledgable, and aren't there to just sell you anything they can. They appreciate quality and will be honest with what products are better than others. The firearm prices are comparable if not a little better (depending on the product) to most other places around Nashville. Ammo prices are slightly higher, but they always have plenty of stock of just about every caliber. The selection of attachments and accessories is a little small, but the selection of guns and ammo makes up for it. It's great to have not only a gun shop, but a GREAT gun shop on the west side of town. Terrific use of the old Regal theatre. I've not yet used the range (they only have one open at the moment with more to come), but it sounds like plenty of others are enjoying it just from the rounds I always hear being fired during shopping. They also have a HUGE parking lot, so don't worry about finding a place to park. Can't wait to make another big purchase here! read more

I went there today with my boyfriend and 15-year-old son looking to shoot a fully automatic gun and a rifle. We chose Royal Range after attempting to go to the Nashville Armory only to find there was a two hour wait. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a really nice range, comparable to the best in Nashville. We rented the Thompson and the AR15. The gentleman working in the range (can't remember his name but he is a Veteran) was incredibly helpful and shared so much about the history of the Thompson. Anytime we had a question or needed help, he was patient and showed us exactly what to do. Prices are competitive and they have a good selection of guns to rent. I highly recommend making the drive. The instructor of the permit class was awesome but there were too many people in the class. I had never really shot before and just bought a new gun and am a woman so I felt really lost and pretty uncomfortable being there, esp during COVID. I was expecting to learn to load/unload my own gun and have more personal interaction but it was awkward and impersonal and I didn't leave feeling confident enough to carry. read more

Could not have had a better experience here. I came with a bachelorette group and many of us had no experience with guns, so we weren't sure what to expect. As soon as we walked in and talked to the Royal Range staff, I instantly felt at ease. Despite the facility being huge and fairly busy, we had incredible guidance and support from start to finish and there was never a question of what to do or who to ask for help - I had one on one attention every time I had a gun in my hand. The facility places a huge emphasis on safety and education, and we all left feeling both informed and empowered. Let me preface by saying I am a combat veteran of multiple tours with the 3rd Ranger Battalion. I am writing this to ask my fellow veterans to consider using another facility to train and purchase firearms. I brought a shotgun to Royal last September to have cerakote work done. I was told that all cerakoting was done at the end of every month and it would be done at the end of September... So, while it sat there, I tried to contact them about installing a separate part on the stock of the gun and they wanted to charge me an extra $400 dollars JUST to install the part (part not included). I declined, so I came and got my gun, sent my stock off to a separate company, had them install the part for $50, then promptly brought the gun back to Royal within a few weeks to await cerakote for the end of October or at the latest end of November cerakote rotation. And when I dropped it back off, I was told I should have it back by the end of the month. I stressed that as long as I had it back for duck season (end of November) then all was good. But you could tell, they didn't like that I had someone else install that part for $50... but whatever... I called and checked on it once a week or so... DANIEL the gunsmith who was supposed to cerakote it, constantly told me I bought a trashy gun and that it wasn't even worth cerakoting and I could feel that the guy hated me everytime he had to talk to me. He made it so that I HATED to call down there, but I wanted to know if it was getting done.... it wasn't... He was giving me the big time run around by the end of it and making stuff up so that it wouldnt get cerakoted in time for me to use it. So then, after duck season has ended, February.... they start calling me, surprise surprise... wanting me to come get the gun. I was furious they had pushed me off for 5 months and then when I didn't need it anymore, they call non stop... so I told my wife, I'll go get it at the start of NEXT duck season... if they can jack me around for a few months, I should be able to do the same... well apparently not... they sent me a certified letter, wanting to charge me $400 just in storage fees for the past few months since I didn't pick it up promptly... is that even legal? Now, if I want my stoeger double barrel back, I have to pay them over $800 dollars... So basically, they are taking my gun, because I won't pay the ransom. I hope this place goes out of business.... I was completely impressed with the facility, they have a wide variety of guns (for purchase & rent) and a ton of ammo. Not to mention a pleasantly friendly and knowledgeable staff! If you are in the area... you should take the time to visit and let of some steam! My boyfriend and I had an absolute blast! If I lived in the area, I would enroll in some of their classes. This was a FANTASTIC experience and I could not recommend it more highly. We went for my bachelorette party, and could not have been more impressed. As someone with no prior gun experience, I received so much education along with the acutal shooting experience. The facility is enormous and has a plethora of options for experiences. Our group of 8 had three people (instructors really) working with us as we used our package, and I had one on one attention every time I was shooting a gun. Amy was our main guide, and she was incredibly helpful in not only explaining the technicalities, but also giving us education about gun laws, proposed laws, and answering all my questions about legal elements as well. I highly recommend making a visit, especially with a group. This was the perfect introduction to shooting, and I can't wait to go again. read more

The staff here is great, they are all very friendly and try to help as much as they can. It can get busy at times, and they still provide the same devotion to all customers (which can get frustrating if you are just waiting in line to shoot). They have opened a lot of great member perks which makes it even better. They also have a great selection of guns, parts, and ammo. Their ammo can be somewhat high, so stop in at Walmart before you come by. But their parts are decently priced. Could you get them cheaper online? Sure, but they don't scalp you for the convenience of having it right now either. Overall, great staff, great range, and great stuff. Visiting from out of town and immediately loved the converted movie theater - what an amazing concept! Beautiful showroom that had plenty of high quality firearms and accessories. If you've been to many (or any) gun stores, you're likely to have come across someone behind the counter that assumes he knows more than you, and/or starts a lot of stories with, "back in 'nam . . .". It's a complete rarity that you come across a gun shop that actually evinces some level of sophistication. But Royal Range does that. I'm assuming that this is, by and large, due to their financial backers who know how to run a business. This place has a really strong selection of higher-end firearms, which is rare (because inventory carrying costs are really high when you have a selection like Royal Range does). I couldn't believe it when I walked in, though. LWRC, LMT, Barrett, IWI (Tavor), Beretta, Glock, etc. etc. I'm sure they have lower-end stuff, too, but I am not usually looking for it. I counted 62 Glocks in the case one time. 62!!! The thing is, too, that their prices are really competitive. I hate to leave this review because if too many people start showing up, that won't last. But, they've been pretty good to deal with thus far. Trasfer fees (non NFA) are $35.00 all in. NFA items only are $100.00 (I complained about this before I checked around and found it was 100% spot on across Tennessee). The only word of advice is that if you use them to transfer in a firearm, be sure that they don't destroy your boxes - I lost one (and maybe two) before I learned the lesson! Oh, the kicker will be when they open their range . . . .which isn't just another range. It's going to be like no other indoor range I've ever seen (.50 cal rated! - who shoots .50 inside, I don't know, but that's pretty incredible). I recently learned of royal range through radio ad. I decided to check it out about three months ago with a coworker and the first time we went there we stood around looking for about 10 minutes before anybody said anything to us. The second time that I went there with my wife to drop off a rifle to have it refinished I got waited on immediately because I walked directly up to the counter and got somebody's attention then me and my wife proceeded to look at some handguns the lady that took my rifle came over to show us handguns and I had problems with her like she was very mouthy and I could tell she did not know as much as she thought she knew about the product. The next thing I had a problem with is when she showed us a firearm my wife after checking it put her finger on the trigger only for the sales person to scold her for doing so at this point I simply told her to hand the gun back and we left. The third trip to this facility was when I received a phone call saying that my rifle have been refinished and was done so I returned to Royal range. I first went in and was looking around before getting my rifle and nobody ever said anything to me until I approached one of them. I then asked for my rifle they went in the back to find it and about five minutes later they came back out asking me if I had already picked it up because they couldn't find it. I started to become irritated and informed them that I had not picked it up to please look again. They return to the back to look for my rifle a second time this time they found it. bring it out for me to look at I thought that I would be taking it home that day except the job is not complete I do not live anywhere close to this facility and it is quite a long drive for me. they told me the price of what it would be, then I informed them the job was not complete. The sales clerk simply shrugged it off like no big deal and I asked him how fast it would be completed and he says somewhere between 3 to 5 weeks I had already waited four weeks for my rifle which was not a problem but I did not want to wait an additional 4 weeks. I let them keep the rifle anyway and he gave me my total. About 2 1/2 weeks later I received a phone call that the rifle was ready again. I returned to Royal range to pick up my rifle and had brought my scope with me. I asked if they could put on the scope while I waited since I had my rifle refinish there. I was informed that they might could have it done in a week unless I wanted to pay 60 additional dollars to get it done while I wait. I found this unacceptable as when I worked in the gun business we considered that Customer Service and would have only charged for the mount and boresight or possibly not charged at all. So I passed on getting that done. I then asked if I could receive a discount since I had to make a special trip out there only to turn around and have to leave my rifle longer since the job was not complete. The sales clerk which I had worked with previously and both times he had extremely bad body odor went and got his manager. The manager came out pretended to look at the computer and informed me that a discount had already been Applied and then gave me the same figure that the clerk the previous trip out there before they knew the job was incomplete had given me. I would consider that a lie and bad customer service I have had four bad experiences with Royal range and I will not be shopping there again. The facility is fantastic but the employees and Customer Service are bad. read more

My wife and I visited Royal Range while on vacation passing through Nashville. It's like the Disney World of shooting! We each shot a Barrett 50 caliber sniper rifle and a full auto A-R 15. The staff were very helpful and seemed just as excited about us being there as we were. They were great!
