ALL my clients urged me, no - begged me to get my gun carry permit. I called around and checked prices and availability for a gun carry class and this place had openings and the best price. And that's exactly what I did. I went to the class, took notes, took the test, fired a glock 17 and now I am officially a gun carrier. I feel safe now that I have something on me to protect me at all times... Staff is friendly, teacher was knowledgeable, and I am now a multi gun owner. Heard the shooting range had a fire, but I'm sure it's all going to be rebuilt and classes are still going on. They have good inventory and prices on guns and ammunition. This is quite literally the best all around Gun store/indoor range in the middle Tennessee area. Yes, it's a good 20-30 minutes north of Nashville, but it's worth it. We live in the Hermitage area and we gladly drive the extra mileage every other weekend to shoot and to look and see what they've rec'd in trade. There are two ranges downstairs; both have 5 or 6 stalls. The left side is has touch pad electronic stalls with steel tracks for the targets. The right side is a standard electronic range that uses a pulley system. Range fee is $10 a person, targets are a $1 and hearing and eye protection is provided with the range fee. This Guns & Leather location has very large selection of handguns, shotguns and rifles, both new and used, which is why their store feels small when you walk in. Their prices on new and used guns run cheaper than any other gun store I've been to. Their Sigs and 1911s are about the standard price for these guns, but much lower than MSRP. Depending on the gun, cash will usually get you 10% off a used firearm. They do 90-day layaway without any fees (I have purchased two guns in this manner). They have a huge selection of AR-15s. They accept trades and you will get more for your trade if you choose to put it towards a new purchase. They do FFL transfer for $25 + $10 for background check. Their ammo in more calibers is usually more expensive than what you'll find at Walmart and Academy, but their .45 ACP is at least $2 cheaper than everywhere else (including Walmart) for 50 rounds. They also have a very large selection of Tagua, Galco and Blackhawk holsters, cleaning supplies, hearing/eye protection and gun cases. They stock night sites for a variety of guns and will order them for your firearm if they aren't currently in stock, and if you buy the sites from them their gun smith will fit them for free. The gunsmith is on staff most days of the week and they have a guy that does custom leather holsters for a very reasonable price. The customer service is excellent, even when they are slammed. My wife and I took out carry permit class here, and it was very informative and above the state's standards. The instructor didn't read the answers to the test out loud before handing them out, instead you actually have to pay attention to the instructor during the class and you'll do fine. The Range instructor for the class (Teddy) is a retired sheriff's department range instructor and was very informative and will provided targeting instruction if you are new to handguns and are struggling. They will also loan you a gun for your qualification if you do not currently own one. Bottom line? This is the best place in Middle Tennessee for all your firearm needs. read more

This is hands down the best gun shop I have ever been to. We were able to walk in and use the indoor firing range. The employees are friendly and know their stuff. Yes they are kid friendly. To me that tells me a lot about the business. They took the time to make sure our visit was great. It was the first time my grandson fired a pistol. He used a 9mm Beretta and looked like a pro! Just happened to be in town for that solar event. What a nice place to spend time! Found some rare ammo I was looking for, and got to rent a really cool Sig pistol. It is a nice place, wide selection and clean. The range downstairs is shorter than some indoor ranges I have been to. But for pistols it was great. Here there is a big difference. Most ranges are concrete floors and walls. The sound feed back is bad. Not here. The floor is carpeted behind the line and wood and sound abatement material where needed. Bottom line, cheap ammo abs comfortable shooting. read more

Very nice range facility. I was very comfortable shooting here. We pretty much had the place to ourselves which is always nice. Rental guns available. Rifles allowed. Prices aren't bad. If you get tired and want a break from shooting, they have a sitting area with snack machines, couches, magazines, and a clean bathroom. Its quiet even though it's right outside the range. One of the best indoor ranges I've used, and I've been to a quite a few. It was clean, well maintained, and well ventilated, which is pretty much the trifecta of perfection for an indoor range. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the shop had a solid firearms selection, with a fair accessories selection. They also have a decent rental gun selection, so try before you buy. I did feel that the prices were a bit high for ammunition, but it's a gun range, and that's where a fair chunk of their income comes from. If you want to lower the amount you spend make sure to bring your own ammo. Overall I had an excellent time here sharpening up my skills, and would not hesitate to come back. read more

I took their handgun carry permit class and it was good. All the knowledge you need to pass the TN Carry permit tests without all the extra crap. Teacher was very profesional and very knowledgeable. Would recommend this class if you want to get your TN carry permt. The Gun store side of it: EXCELLENT! I was in there on a Sunday. The store had plenty of personell on hand to handle the customers that were coming in. They had a GREAT deal on a pistol that I could not pass up.
