This is a large bowling alley with many lanes. Every lanes has bumpers that can be used for the kids. There is a arcade, concessions and a bar with a couple of pool tables. This is the first bowling I've ever been to that nails the screen game! The random trivia and jokes played during the game makes an extra treat for those waiting on their turn. A huge alley with tons of lanes for large groups, plenty of food and beverages for kids and adults, and decent prices made for two solid hours. We used to come here as a teenager ALL THE TIME! I see this is still a hangout, which is great! I would just recommend brining your family on a weekday or earlier in the afternoon. Friday and Saturday nights are packed with a lot of teenagers. The location is perfect! Not far from down town and just about a half mile off i465. The building is definitely older, but it is pretty nice inside. They have arcade games, pool tables, bar area (21+ only lol) and just an overall great time and experience. We went years ago and recently taking our grandson who is four. Staff are all helpful and pleasant. The place is clean and well kept. Small arcade was fun the the four year old and he won a prize. While family was in town we came in for a kids bowl free evening, and for a super decent price got two games and shoes for the whole group. They have a nicely lite area and many lanes, so we never felt cramped or like we were needing to bowl quickly. The staff answered many questions as we first had the gutter guards down then decided to risk having them off (later changed our minds and they were super courteous about it). They had helper stands for the younger ones to use and lots of fun gimmicks on the screen for the scoreboard. Our group had fun and they accommodated our antics. There's a main bar with tvs on one side that you can order food from. I was surprised at how many items they offered on their menu. I've been to Western Bowl on date night, kid parties, league play...no matter the occasion, it's sure to be affordable, memorable fun. Leagues range from social/fun to serious/highly competitive. They do a beer league a couple times of year that's really great. Our team name one time was Here for the Beer...a very honest indicator of our bowling skills. U even accidentally increased my average by participating in a league. Speaking of beer, they have two bars on site. I have found my new bowling spot. This place is huge. I think well over 70 lanes. This place was awesome. We went on a Friday night and they had half the lanes set to classic bowling and the other half to dark bowling with dance music, and strobe lights. They also have a mini-arcade, snack bar and 2 bars inside. It was very clean and modern. Electronic scorning and automated bumpers, oh yeah. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. They are capable of hosting a full family fun night. They have the ball ramps so my three year old can get into the fun. She will love it. Bumpers and ball ramps, how can she lose. They also have servers that will bring you food/drink to you while you are bowling. So you definitely keep up with the lanes on social media. They have special events on certain nights. One of the managers was telling us about the band they were going have playing on the lanes Friday and that it was free. She also mentioned that they were having a special event on NYE. If we did not already have plans, I would have definitely considered it. I highly recommend this spot for just about anything; birthday parties, date night, girls night, family night, bachelor parties, and even weddings (ok maybe not weddings). This west side bowling alley was a memorable part of my childhood. As an adult not much has changed. Monday nights are the best nights to go because after 6 they charge $2 a game. It can get pretty busy those nights because of the discount and also because it is the leagues night. Drinks and food can be quite expensive but I don't really expect anything different from them. The staff is very friendly and do walkthroughs during the evening, where they ask guest if they can help them at all. Overall I feel as Royal Pin has gotten better with age. read more

You could take my hometown bowling alley and place five of it inside Western Bowl. Yup, it's that big. Like 80 lanes big. In addition to the 80 lanes you'll find multiple bars, a snack counter, mini store for prizes and a private party area. The location is a little whacky (somewhat near the airport) but where else are you going to tuck a bowling alley this big with a large parking lot? On Sundays you can snag two games and show rental for $11. We were really impressed by the pricing given the great customer service, quality of the lanes and high tech scoring/screen system. We were also delighted that they allowed us to bring in a birthday cake. Bring the hungry crew that we are, we ordered the pretzels, loaded potato chips, mozzarella sticks and fried onion petals as well. Oh, yeah, and a pricy batch of pitcher margarita. I only note it as being pricy due to it being a sugary mix in a half full pitcher. Given the sprawl of the place, you can easily have your own area without feeling crowded out by neighboring bowlers. In addition to Sunday deals, they also offer a ladies night as well as a kid friendly bowl on Sunday afternoons. Looking forward to many more bowling parties with the crew on Sundays. Was greeted by a rude worker when going to purchase games to bowl. This immediately put a bad taste in my mouth since this was my first time at this bowling alley. We typically go to Royal Pin Woodland. Due to this it made it easier to compare apples to apples. We hated the seating layout where you actually bowl. They had very outdated and spaced chairs/tables. It made it difficult to socialize with others in your party due to there being so much space in between the tables. The only thing that looked updated at the alley was the bar area, which was large. Not sure why an alley would put so much money into a bar when the main purpose is to BOWL. I visited the restrooms, and they were nice and clean. Overall didn't have a good experience and I would not choose to come back to this location if I had a say. read more

This place is pretty hit and miss it seems. Last week I was here for ladies night and it was amazing! Half off for games and shoes? Sign me up. But this week it's been a nightmare and I don't think it's necessarily Western Bowls fault. Definitely my go to place for bowling! This place is HUGE with having around 80 lanes, so really I've never had to wait to bowl! It is always clean in here too. It has a large bar (if you get a pitcher of beer, you can take the pitcher home and bring it back for $3 or $4 off your next visit!), a mini restaurant (seriously- food ranges from wings to sandwiches to burgers), a pro shop, and an arcade. I've never had an unpleasant experience with staff as they have always been friendly. Any time I come here, it's always so much fun and makes me want to join a bowling league lol. It has been YEARS since I've been here, but walking in the front door, it was like time had stood still. Same music, same TV screens, and same great fun! We made reservations for two lanes on Friday evening at 9 pm. The lanes were ready and waiting for us, and since they weren't very crowded, they were spacing people out so you didn't have to bowl next to a stranger. This was a really nice touch. After picking up my tacky shoes and ball, I headed to the bar for a $6 Fat Tire and some shots. It was my birthday after all.. and we came to celebrate. The place we had dinner at wouldn't let us bring in the cake that my friends had so thoughtfully ordered, but they fine folks at Western Bowl were a-okay with this. Reasons why I do not go out & have fun rather stay home. "This is a place to have fun with families & children". Although, as this was my first time going with my family the experience was not great. The workers are very disrespectful and very immature. The security officer there was not professional with his job. Long story short group of drunk people starting a fight & as my family and I decided to leave as well for the safety of our kids. Without explanation on what was happening the security guy did not allow us to leave & started yelling at us like if we did not understand English. Also, not allowing us to speak or ask questions regarding why we couldn't leave. Honestly it just looked like they were just being racists on the way they were treating us. This is no safe place to bring your kids with drunk people around and people wanting to start a fight. Last but not least, these drink people were driving crazy in the parking lot not caring about the safety of children that may be out. I do not recommend this place. read more

So today I went bowling at this establishment. I started to notice something as soon as I walked in the door and kind of couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't ignore what I am about to say but what I noticed was all people of African American culture alone with me and my mixed children where put at one end of the bowling alley. Now at first o just tried to see if it was coincidence but as we bowled for our hour I noticed that ALL African Americans where being put near me on my lane. These where everyone that came after me. Now what I did notice was that all whites where put near the entrance. I called and talked to the manager and she told me that it's randomized and it was just a coincidence that everyone ended up down there. She did say that she would inform her GM. Let me start this review by disclaiming my knowledge of bowling. I go around once a year. My son was invited to a birthday party here but I had my daughter with me as well who was not invited so I asked if she wanted to bowl so we bowled too in our own lane. First I was very impressed the bowling alley was very up to date. Nice scoring system. The price seemed pretty reasonable for a game and shoes. The staff was helpful asked if we needed a ramp and bumpers and they helped my 6 yr old with here game. They also had 6 lb balls she needed using without the ramp and got an 80 game which I thought was pretty good. My son had a blast with his birthday party and from looking at it the parties seem like a great option there for kids probably over 6. Overall we all had a great time and while I don't bowl often would be happy to return. Also looked like they had a decent bar and good food options but I had just ate before going there. read more

I remember I used to go bowling all the time with my family then we stopped, used to bowl in Florida then I stopped. So, my friend and I decided to go bowling last night which I noticed everything has been upgraded from the how the seating used to look in the bowling area, and the small monitor where you put in your team name on. I remembered when you used to put your name as well as others names down there used to be a seat. It wasn't packed when I had arrived around 10:40ish. I noticed the younger crowd prefer the dark, and neon lights on the bowling alley side. While, I chose the regular side of the bowling alley. The bowling alley does have a bar that serves beer, wine, and frozen margaritas. As, well as the bowling alley does serve food too. Bowling is always fun, for all ages, brings out the competitive side. My dad is in three bowling leagues, and I'm going to start bowling once again. Weekend visit to enjoy bowling and spend some time having fun. The place was packed when I got in, took 15-20 mins to check in. Once we checked in and started bowling, we were thirsty. There's an option of calling a server by clicking on your assigned screen. Waited for over an hour and no one came by. The place looked absolutely busy with no one really bothered about what was going on. Later got to know that a bowling tournament was going on. Management should and must know how to staff on such busy days. Its not fair on one attendant or a couple of servers to juggle everywhere. This place can be better! read more

Royal Pin is always a good time for the family. I grew up going to this location and love it. Cosmic Bowling is unfortunately down due to COVID. We bought three games and two lanes. Reserved a spot online before coming in. They make you pay to reserve but give you your money back towards your games. Went with a group of friends and wasn't disappointed. If you're familiar with the Royal Pin family of bowling centers around Indianapolis, then you know Western Bowl. There are very few independent bowling centers in Central Indiana and the big corporate ones tend to cater towards the open bowling crowd and birthday parties. Now that the entire center is smoke-free (you can't smoke in the lounge anymore thanks to the new law---yay!) it's a pretty pleasant place to spend a couple hours. It's a pretty big bowling alley, so there are actually 2 bars -- one on each end. Lanes are pretty typical of what you will find at any newer center -- synthetic. read more

A large venue hosting multiple lanes, events, leagues, and party opportunities. Venue: Western bowl has been around for a good while, however, it has stood the test of time. The remodeling and updates have had a lasting impact and overall this is a great place to bowl. Food: There are 2 bars and a food stand. The bars are full service and prices are comparable to local establishments. The food stand has a wide variety of items but I'd classify it as a "Full bar-food" type menu. A lot of options, but nothing crazy. Price: Bowling here isn't expensive overall. There are multiple events that run and take the price down so be on the lookout for those. Pro-Shop: i bought my last bowling ball here. They do a military discount which is really nice. They offer performance balls to test before you buy and drill on site. Staff is very helpful. Staffing: this is the only area i have something bad to say. The employees are great, but there's not enough of them. It traditionally feels like they are always under staffed and super busy. Overall: I'd recommend bowling here. It's a lot of fun and the lanes are well maintained. read more

It's not in the nicest area of town, but this is still a solid bowling alley. It's mostly clean and well taken care of. Over the summer, they offer a "kids bowl free" special that you have to sign up for. Then they send out coupons that can be used EVERY day to get kids in bowling. The only charge is for shoe rental, which is just a few bucks. It seems like they do a lot of promotionals. I saw on Wednesday's they have ladies night -- not sure what that is, but it's nice they do things to mix it up! They have a full food and drink menu, with a nice bar area inside the bowling alley. There is also an arcade. It's a pretty typical bowling alley, and a good way to spend a couple of hours. Also, there's a subway right next door and if you bring in your bowling coupon, you can get a dollar off a foot long sub. Pretty sweet! read more
