    Royal Palace Thai menu
    Alec A.

We were driving in the New Hyde Park area of Tampa and getting hungry after some early shopping and drive by this place with a sign that states this is the best original Thai food in Tampa. So, we have to try it. Royal Palace Thai has been around for a long time in Tampa. The atmosphere is very old. Antiquish, if there is such a word. Kind of small and it has an indoor and outdoor seating areas. Indoors smells a little musty so we ate outside. However, it seemed clean. The menus are old too and most of the prices are covered. I would recommend looking at their online menu for their prices. A few others also came in at the same time as us so there was a short wait to place our orders. I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken. My wife ordered their Pork with vegetables and garlic sauce and rice. It took about 10 minutes for our orders to come out to the table. Nice and simple presentation. Small servings when compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. However, once we started to eat the food, a surprised look came onto our faces. This was really delicious. I mean the Pad Thai was the best I have had in the Tampa area. And my wife's dish was so tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, finishing everything on our plates. This was the first time that we have not asked for takeout containers at any restaurant in Tampa. Wow! One thing to be concerned with is that their prices are a bit higher than other similar restaurants for a smaller portion. Each of our dishes cost $17 each. That is higher than what we have spent on with other places. But if you like Thai food and the best Pad Thai in the Tampa area, drop on by to this little gem.

The food was absolutely delicious--flavorful, warming to the heart, and perfectly spiced. The ambiance felt cozy and homey!! It was my first time trying pad Thai and I will say they met the expectation. The sweet potato puffs were also a nice switch up since I also go for the krab Rangoons, 10/10 would get them again

    Chicken Panang love it!

The food here is so amazing. We've tried Thai food in lots of places and none come close to this. We've been eating here for 20 years and have never been anything but thrilled with the food. The family is so kind and the service is impeccable. They even remember our usual order when we visit. You will love it too.

Appetizer sampler- curry puff, crab Rangoon and egg roll. Super hot and crunchy!

Right now they're only offering outdoor seating- which is totally fine by me! It's less than 10 tables so they get busy pretty quickly and it seems like it's a very small family team running the lace, splitting time between taking phone orders, helping in the kitchen and running food out. We ordered the appetizer sampler, yellow curry and crispy basil duck. The flavors were great, although I do think the portion size was a little small for the price. Ordered the duck 5 spicy and I'd say it was more 3-4 level. The curry was delicious. The appetizer plate was served super hot and crispy and was very good. Love that they use the smooth, thin wrappers like Vietnamese egg rolls instead of the thick bubbly kind they usually use at Chinese restaurants. It's good considering it's the only Thai place in this area of soho, so great if you're in the neighborhood. I'd definitely eat there again!

I had the penang curry with chicken and shrimp and when i tell you. THIS FOOD WAS AMAZING. I loved it so much. I also like the design on the restaurant. The food came out very fast and it was amazing. Definitely would recommend 11/10.

The restaurant improperly packaged the curry in this box resulting in it leaking entirely into the bag and it was inedible.

I ordered takeout from Royal Palace Thai yesterday evening (two green curries and one Panang curry). I was staying at the Epicurean Hotel a couple blocks away. After picking up my order from this restaurant, I walked carefully back to the hotel and was dismayed to discover upon opening the bag that the restaurant had improperly packaged one of the curries resulting in all the liquid to spill out of the box into the plastic bag. The other two curries had been packaged in appropriate leak-proof containers. Why the third was packaged in a different container (an easy to spill/box) was a mystery to me. I immediately called the restaurant and explained what had happened. The woman that answered the phone told me that it was entirely MY fault that the container had leaked. She refused to offer me a refund or to remake the curry for me for free. I definitely will not be dining here again and strongly recommend that you go elsewhere based this negative experience.

Smallest to-go serving size I have ever seen. I will not be back. Tom Yum soup came half full. Super bizarre place.

Thai donuts are so good, I dug into one early! (One is missing from this photo)

This is such a charming quiet restaurant. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer plate, all of which were excellent. Service was very good.

They have their own parking in this plaza. Walked in here around 8:30 PM. They close at 10PM. A lot of places around closed earlier for a Thursday night from my search. It was empty, but people took food to go. We had the place to ourself. Nice and chill. We had two males assist us. One was new and shadowing. They were very nice and helpful. We went with the pad thai chicken and added shrimp. $3 more for shrimp for 5 of them. We asked for sweet and extra saucy and limes. Our dish was so big for both of us and it came out just perfect. We will def keep this in mind bc both of us loved their pad thai. I thought the prices were up there, and I figured bc of the area, but when we were able to split this one seeing how big it was, it was worth it for sure.

Booking a reservation online was so easy, and it didn't end up being a busy evening, as it was a Tuesday night, so we could have easily walked in, as well. The parking was easy and upon driving up, I instantly remembered that this location used to be Roux, a great New Orleans inspired restaurant where I used to frequent for brunch. The same tiled ceiling is still in placed but the remaining features of the restaurant have all changed. The space is open and inviting, and the bar at the entrance has been updated. Our server was friendly and helpful, and the menu is lengthy with plenty of great options. I ordered the fried tofu for our starter, and it was perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce was delicious! The tofu was as so plentiful that I ended up taking half the starter home. They definitely give you plenty! For our entrees, I ordered Panang Curry with steamed tofu and my friend ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice. Both dishes came out hot and smelled lovely, and the taste was out of this world! I ordered medium and it was the perfect spice level, and the curry was so flavorful and delicious! It may even be the best Panang Curry I've had in Tampa!

I'm glad I came a bit after the lunch crowd because parking in this area is always a nightmare with all of the other office space and restaurants right next door. To my surprise it was just me and 1 other guy in the entire restaurant. Now, it was a day after Easter at like 2pm, but still. I like how the bar area is divided between partly being inside and partly being outside. I decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. It was a perfect 80 degree day. Up first, I had the $10 Spicy Edamame. I thought it was highly average. Not particularly spicy, and not particularly tasty. I wouldn't get this again. Then, I tried a $9 gyoza. Pretty standard as it should be. For the main course though. Wow, oh wow. I love me a great smoke show. The $22 Screaming Chicken Comes out absolutely screaming with smoke, steam, and sizzle. I loved the presentation. Then, they pour the hot sauce ontop of the meal and BOOM more sizzle!!! I asked for extra hot Thai spicy. The bartender laughed at me when I asked if I needed to sign a waiver. I said, ok so good to know it won't actually be spicy. I didn't even sweat eating the screaming chicken. I loved this dish and would absolutely come back for it again. For dessert, I'm a huge sucker for any donuts on a menu so I got the $8 Thai donuts. YES! I love the caramel sauce they are dipped in. I could eat these all day. Solid spot with lots of potential!

I loved the sticky rice. My youngest son loved it too, so it was a huge winner. 2. Crispy Volcano Chicken. I really enjoyed this as well. It has the outside that reminds me of orange chicken. 3.
