Surprisingly, it was the best Chinese food I've had in the Tampa area. General Tso's chicken was good, although the pieces were small and overcooked. Wasn't over-sauced and was tasty. The food was really good. I got a shrimp egg roll and had 2 shrimps in it. and I got beef lo mein. The beef was good beef and the sauce was tasty. I ordered online. The only think I didn't like was it seems you can't check out without leaving a tip. Maybe I did something wrong but I gave them a $1 tip. I don't think you should have to tip if you order online and you pick it up yourself. There is no ambiance. It was very cluttered. So it's just a pick up and take home. I read relatively good reviews of this place before placing my usual 'go to' Chinese order: Broccoli Beef with steam rice, Spring Rolls, Steamed Pork Dumplings, Plain Lo Mein, and Egg Drop soup. I know, it's not a crazy appetizing order, but it's the comfort meal. I placed my online order and received the receipt via email with a pick up time of 18:55. I arrived 19:00ish and waiting behind two people. There's chairs placed around the walls and no tables, so please don't plan to dine in here. After a short 3 minutes, the woman behind the counter asked for my name, took my money, gave me my food, and I was on my way. Very quick efficient system they had though I cannot say for the other 6-8 people sitting in the chairs waiting. Once home, I started with the Egg Drop soup, good. Tasted as it always does from any Chinese restaurant. Spring rolls, good. Just good, maybe a tad over done, but good. Steamed Pork dumplings; okay. Just okay. A tad cold but I can't say anything due to my timeliness. Plain Lo Mein; first bite I was confused. After the second bite, I knew exactly what it tasted like. Burnt leftover pan. Never washed , just maybe rinsed enough to get the chucks of the last meal prepared in it. Beef Broccoli, terrible. Just as bad at the Lo Mein. And maybe the same pan, but I'm assuming not because it had a tad bit different pan flavor. I overall was extremely disappointed by my first and only interaction with the establishment. China taste is my go to Chinese takeout restaurant in Tampa, most likely for the fact that it's less than 5 minutes from my house and they have cheap lunch specials. I always get the chicken and broccoli and it's pretty standard. It's definitely not NY style Chinese takeout but, hey we don't live in the North East anymore! Lunch specials are $6.25 and come with pork fried rice and wonton soup or an egg roll or a soda. If you want to switch out the soup for a different soup, it's extra (but they won't tell you that)... same goes for switching out lomein for fried rice. I also enjoy their wonton soup. Overall, not the best Chinese I've ever had but convenient, quick and affordable. read more

Great little local Chinese restaurant with consistently good New York style food. Being close to my work, I swing by a few times a month as they have nicely priced lunch specials and are always friendly to deal with. During the COVID period, they quickly adjusted their setup to continue to provide dining options at a reduced risk. If you are in the area, definitely check out this place but note it is more of a carry out type place even though they do have a few tables inside. read more

Large portions, very tasty, got medium spicy, wasn't spicy at all for us, so would likely get hot or extra hot next time. I'm not happy. Decided to try this place out. Ordered it via Uber eats to my hotel and after waiting an hour I got my order. Had ordered shrimp chow with the the crispy noodles NO rice but what I ended up sending me was the rice and crispy noodles. No chow mein whatsoever. So I'm sitting here picking out the shrimp and eating it with the rice feeling dissatisfied because I trained at the airport for 10 hours and just wanted to come back to my room and have a good meal but noooo they couldn't get my order right. Well, they made it through the Covid time line. Now facing ever increasing price hikes on their food costs, their prices haven't gone up as much as you would expect. Being a small Mom & Pop restaurant they seem to work very hard for their customers. My favorites are Beef & Broccoli, Beef Lomain and have tried and found interesting Mei Fun, which is kinda like Angel Hair Pasta. That has been an enjoyable change of pace for me. Never heard of Crab Rangoon until I found their restaurant. Now I'm an addict. Lol. Deliver is available within 5 miles and a lot less expensive than Uber or Door Dash. Haven't had a bad meal there yet, like apparently some say they have. But U can't please everyone. read more

They charge you $2.50 for delivery, gave the driver a $1 tip and ended up with a nasty message from the delivery person biutching that they only got a dollar. Went there with the receipt containing the nasty comments and the woman at the counter stated the manager was not there, looked at the erceipt, and LAUGHED. Not sure if they were having an off day or what but today's experience was not a good one. I placed the order online and paid with card but when the delivery person came it said it was supposed to be paid cash. Called and asked them just to charge me for the food so the driver could be on their way and even taking my information over the phone took about 10 minutes. Go to open the bag and we got 2 different drinks from what was ordered, General Tso's combo had no broccoli, and Egg Foo Young combo didn't come with any sauce. Every once in a while you just don't want to cook, you don't want pizza, and you just crave some noodles. When honey and I feel this way (usually on a Friday night or rainy Saturday) we will order from this restaurant. There are quite a few options for Chinese food in our area but we always go for China Taste. In my experience it taste the best. Also my favorite thing is the Singapore noodles and they just so happen to make them the way I like them! There are no frills about this place. If you decide to eat in or pick up your food you will find only 2 tables in the restaurant and a counter to order from. Sometimes a really cute little boy will be taking your order, I think he might be the son of the owner. He is very well spoken and just the cutest thing. In regards to the delivery we have not experienced any messed up orders and the portions are a decent amount. Pricing is what one would expect for Chinese food. Delivery is approximately the average 45 mins wait time for this area, sometimes even sooner. If you are ordering Chinese go with China Taste- you will not regret it- and I suspect it will become your favorite new Chinese take out place. read more

Dreadful Chinese food. Soggy dumplings with questionable ingredients. Stupidly, ordered chicken terriyaki (yes I know it's Japanese and not Chinese) which was also poor. It's quick typical take out chinese. It's good and I order from here all the time, but it's not my favorite in South Tampa. When I moved from S. Howard, I had to give up Wok and Roll on Kennedy that I think is much better. I live in the Gandy area now and I do think they are the best in this area. Their house fried rice is fantastic! The pork egg rolls are also very very good. I really like the honey chicken and Mongolian beef. My favorite chinese takeout is generally cashew chicken, but I never order it from China Taste because the teriyaki glaze has a weird after taste. In summary, they have some items that are fantastic so if you find one you like, stick to it, and you'll have a good fast chinese food experience. read more
