I would give this place more stars but it's definitely small and loud (they had very loud house music playing so if you're with a group it may be hard to hear one another. I got the Ichiban and Essex rolls and they were tasty. They came with a side of spicy sauce, eel sauce, and the boat was super cute. I would eat here again but maybe order takeout instead. read more

Tokyo was really good! I ordered it for delivery on Uber eats as the hotel I was staying at didn't really have any food within walking distance and I didn't wanna Uber anywhere. The service was exceptional when my food was delivered, and they followed the directions I posted really well. I asked for my chicken to be very spicy and when I got it, there was definitely a lot of spice! While the rice lacked flavor, adding soy sauce took care of that. The eggroll was the highlight of the night and I wish I would've ordered more than one. The veggies were crisp and fresh and I definitely enjoyed the drink that I received as well. The customer service was okay. However the food was horrible. The rice was hard and the shrimp were soggy and old tasting. Miso soup was not good either. Definitely not Authentic. Tokyo serves up really good chinese food!!! This is probably the first Chinese takeout in Tampa that I've had where the food wasn't loaded with MSG and oil. Overall, the food tasted clean (if that makes sense) and the veggies were fresh. We opted for chicken with broccoli and chicken with garlic sauce. Both dishes were tasty. This place doesn't look like much and resides on the bustling W Hillsborough, but wow do they have yummy sushi. When my usual, closer to home sushi joint stops taking delivery orders or is closing soon, I can always rely on Tokyo for backup. Tokyo is open till 11pm and better equipped to handle lots of orders, apparently. They offer a sushi-boat load of desirable maki roll choices with plenty of gluten free options. I have tried quite a few different rolls and they were all fresh, flavorful and well portioned. I have visited and waited for a takeout order and experienced very friendly staff. After spending $50 to order it and having it delivered it was absolutely not even edible. It smelled bad, tasted disgusting and went right in the garbage. Hopefully they improve because this was really disgusting and I don't know how they could even put out food like this. I love the food and service here. My favorite meal is the bourbon chicken with fried rice or lol mein and an egg roll. The bourbon chicken is absolutely delicious with carrots, green bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The service here is always friendly and attentive. My boyfriend ordered chicken Kung Pao a few weeks ago and it was spicy and delicious. I ordered it again two weeks later and it doesn't taste the same. I have plain white chicken pieces and some that were sautéed properly. Feels like they just threw in some random pieces at the end. Before this, I had chicken and broccoli and some pieces of the chicken were hard. I guess I never know what I'm going to get. The food isn't cooked consistently. Sometimes work gets pretty busy and sometimes you're just too lazy to pack a lunch; that's what take out and delivery is for. A co-worker asked if I wanted to place an order with him so he could meet the delivery quota for this place. Upon first glance, I was a bit disappointed that their regular plates come in combos with a drink, but none of the vegetarian options do. You have to pay a la carte for a drink. All in all, the portions are generous and a good value. I can only finish half of my hunan tofu and have to save the rest for later. Honestly wasn't great. My partner got sushi and everything was good except that the wasabi wasn't spicy and it was pretty much just green play dough. My salmon bento was 40% salad, 30% white rice, 15% gyoza and the salmon... oh it might as well have been over cooked fried cat food. It was insanely dry and you could whack it against the table. We also got the vegetable tempura which was okay but once you see the bottom of the container it is literally sitting in a puddle of grease.
