Salt and pepper tofu
Robert B.

The salt and pepper tofu appetizer was delicious, the best I've ever tasted. Lots of vegetables, delicious spice, and fried tofu with tator tot crisp. We had red and panang curry as our entree. Both were well spiced and delicious. Lots of vegan options. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. The vibe is cozy with pop music, a bar you can eat at, and tvs showing delicious food.

Volcano Chicken (dinner portion)

Whenever I'm in the mood for Pad Thai this is my favorite place. I order to go regularly and they are always quick and taste is always amazing. The chicken Pad Thai was about $20 Togo but portion is pretty big! Spice level was a 2 but I'll probably try 3 next time even though the two was perfect!

Khao Soi

Very solid place for Thai and Lao food in the Westchase area! The inside of the restaurant is decently big, with lots of space for a good sized party. I ordered food to go and they had in ready in about 20 minutes, which is excellent. I got the Khao Soi and definitely enjoyed the flavors. Love the mix of a curry based soup, with tender pieces of short rib, and the crunch of the fried egg noodles. The inclusion of the pickled vegetables helps to cut through the richness. I do wish the red onions were cut just a little smaller, but overall, still an excellent dish and a great restaurant that I will be coming back to :)

This place is awesome, my friend introduced me to it and when we hang out we normally come here for dinner. We get seated right away, food is out pretty fast, extremely nice workers , food is always good AND it's a great price! What more does a place need ??? 10/10

Crispy snapper, double impact roll, panang curry

So happy to have tried this authentic family-owned sushi place! Super friendly and you can tell the owner and his family really care about their food & customers. Crispy tuna rice cakes as an app will never lead you wrong! The double impact roll was perfectly filling with delicious fresh seafood. Star of the show was the e crispy snapper in their homemade curry sauce -- I've never had anything like it and I would return for that dish alone!! Highly recommend!

Crispy duck and tipsy noodles

An amazing experience here everytime! From the food to the service to the ambiance, everything is intentional and well done. Their sushi dishes are delicious and you can't go wrong trying any of the combinations they offer.

Just found my FAVORITE sushi spot in Westchase area.. maybe all of Tampa! OMG! the sushi was fantastic. I can be critical when it comes to sushi because it's literally my favorite food and I could eat it everyday. This place blew me away. Great sushi in Tampa Bay in general is hard to find so I was so excited to try this place because of the raving reviews. I am so glad I did because it was so delicious. The rice was pillowy soft and melted in your mouth. The fish was smooth like butter. The flavors all mixed so well. I devoured my rolls! I also got stir fry wide noodles with veggies, another delicious dish! Had plenty of leftovers the next day! I will be a regular for sure. Give this place a try if you haven't!!

Salt and Pepper Calamari hands down the best calamari, fresh and tender always!

Awesome sushi, just amazing food every time! So much flavor, but be careful the spice might catch up to you. They will ask, What level heat you prefer, between a 1-5! They treat me like family & remember my favorites, or suggest something just as good.

Constantly top quality food, presentation, and service. We were immediately treated as family here, even getting to meet and chat with the owner. He shared his passion for food with us, and was very proud of what did at the establishment. Don't let the simple layout of the place fool you, the food speaks for itself!

This restaurant has rapidly become one of our favorites. For so many reasons! Starts with a warm welcome, always! Everything on the menu can be customized. So the variation is endless. The food is both delicate and very delicious. Our goal to explore the entire menu. It's our mission. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem.

I've lived in this area for 7 years, I don't know how I haven't visited Rice & Spice until recently, but I've definitely been missing out. We've dined in and we've ordered out because we just can't get enough. We usually order the spicy tuna rice cakes (highly recommend - they're always 10/10 delicious), we usually mix it up and order a variety of different rolls as well - and we've NEVER had a roll we didn't like here. Everything is put together so well and the fish is always so fresh. The restaurant itself is very cute - it isn't a huge establishment, but it still fits plenty of people without feeling crowded or jam-packed inside. I want to highlight the service, because even though the food is a complete winner here - the service really sets Rice and Spice apart from every other "really good" sushi spot in the area. I've never had anything less than excellent service here. They are friendly and attentive and make you feel like you're a regular there even if it's your first visit. Rice and Spice is a must try, RUN don't walk :)

Didn't need all the micro greens for garnish on top but this could be overlooked because taste and flavor was amazing. The tuna tartare was super tasty as well and I would definitely order this again same comment for micro greens on this dish - didn't need this and found myself moving it off the dishes to actually enjoy the item. The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss. Food is terrible - they even forgot the egg as a part of my ramen and brought me a frozen egg when I mentioned the missing item which was disgusting. Octopus is so tough and chewy. Terribly cooked from frozen. Mango sticky rice is absolutely horrendous. Nothing like what you expect. Temperature is terrible - they don't use A/C so it's incredibly hot and humid in restaurant. Avoid this place at all costs.

We also love Hyde Park and it's just so nice to walk around that area before or after your meal. We started off with cocktails -- I went with the pomelo (nikka coffey gin, aperol, grapefruit, szechuan peppercorn) and she got the shinshun (sparkling sake, yuzu extract, & honey). We both really enjoyed our drinks. For appetizers, we shared the wagyu gyoza and I also got a couple pieces of nigiri -- Hokkaido Hotate (scallop) and the otoro (fatty tuna belly). Yum! We both ordered sushi rolls (maki) for our mains. I got the Ro signature roll which has spicy tuna, avocado, and hamachi. My sis got the classic tempura shrimp roll topped with crispy potato chips which was a nice twist. We definitely got our sushi fix! The end of every meal comes with a complimentary sweet surprise and I'm so glad we saved just enough room for dessert. They make their own ice cream in-house and have fun rotating flavor combinations. I can't remember the exact flavor we had, but it had a passion fruit ganache on top with some crumble topping and it was phenomenal! Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. That alone is worth going back for.

If you're in the Tampa area, ro Hyde Park is worth adding to your list.

He came to our table to personally explain the Tokyo Fries, introduced us to the new Shrimp Bao and the new Crispy Rice with Yuzu Ponzu, and shared the inspiration behind the dishes. Chef Joel has been amazing both times we've dined here. He even took the time to talk with my daughter about the food, and it completely made her day. She talked about the experience for the rest of the day! Thank you, Chef Joel, for the amazing food, your passion, and for taking the time to visit our table and make us feel so welcome. We checked out a bunch of different restaurants, but they were all booked up. So, we ended up booking Wagamama for our dinner on Sunday night. After finding roadside parking near the restaurant, we checked in at the register and were shown to our table. Our server greeted us and provided us with menus. Following a discussion among ourselves and with our server, we began our order with a lychee martini and a coconut drift for drinks. For appetizers, we selected the Bang Bang Cauliflower, which our server highlighted as a very popular option, along with chicken pot stickers. For our main courses, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, Karage Chicken Strips for our toddler and the chicken firecracker dishes. Our drinks arrived first: a Lychee Martini and a Coconut Drift. The Lychee Martini contained a significant amount of vodka, so much that my spouse could only manage two sips. The Coconut Drift was better, but it still had an excessive amount of sugar. We got our Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer. However, upon tasting it, we found it wasn't cooked properly. It tasted like they simply coated the cauliflower with sauce without properly cooking it. We were disappointed to have to return it. Following that, our chicken pot stickers arrived. The chicken pot stickers were just okay, without anything particularly noteworthy about them. They weren't even properly cooked around the edges. Both appetizers we ordered turned out to be disappointing. Our dinner arrived and included Pad Thai and Chicken Firecracker. Both dishes were just alright; they could have been better. Compared to how other reviews described them, they didn't live up to the expectations set by those reviews. We couldn't get the Chicken Karage Strips we wanted for dinner. We ended up having to comp the whole thing because even though the restaurant wasn't that full (only about 70-75% empty), we had to wait a super long time for the food to be ready. Our visit to Wagamama was so disappointing that we may not return. We were unhappy with the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
