Was originally interested in this restaurant due to it being affiliated with Beijing House, which is a go-to spot for my family. The interior was nice, quiet, and clean and I liked the decor. I was actually surprised by their Creamy Matcha Frappen; it was subtly sweet and the cream on top was super tasty because it had a nice balance of salt to offset the sweet. They offer a lunch special, 2 classic rolls for about $10, and the rolls were made well and tasted fresh. I opted for the classic rolls since, in my opinion, the signature rolls are overpriced. If you're feeling specialty sushi for a good price, this is not the place. Everything else on the menu seemed reasonably priced. We also got the Chicken Karaage. Honestly, it looked and tasted like chicken nuggets, so this appetizer I wouldn't recommend either. I would be interested to try other menu items if I have a chance to go back. read more

We had Grilled Eel, Salmon, and Spicy Tuna, and all three were very tasty but I will say they are messier to eat than traditional Sushi. We also had the Fried Pork Cutlet with rice and Curry. We were so impressed with the sushi tacos. Not sure what we were expecting but this was awesome. The shell is crunchy seaweed and the inside is your choice of basically a roll. My flaming hot plate had a lit burner turned on for the duration of the meal. Pretty cool feature. Open 7 days a week! I ordered the Flaming Hot Plate Mala style with beef. The beef was tender and the vegetables were well cooked and flavorful. I liked the fresh cilantro added. 8/10 Cons Sodas are served a la carte (no fountain style). The menu description of the hot plate didn't mention what carbohydrate was included. ( I almost feel like noodles would be better but I'm unfamiliar with Chinese preparation so I can't really get upset about that.) I stopped by Fortune Kitchen during their soft opening to check it out! They're currently transitioning concepts, so you'll notice a blend of Chinese and Japanese décor for now, but they'll be focusing more on Japanese cuisine moving forward. It's great to see an Asian restaurant near the Tampa Palms area because the options are low. I tried a sushi roll, chicken skewer, yakisoba and karaage. The chicken skewer was flavorful and I enjoyed it. They shared that they plan to expand their skewer selection in the future, which I'm excited about. The sushi pizza was creative and surprisingly well-balanced. It's one of those dishes you're curious about, and the flavors actually came together nicely. I also ordered the karaage. It wasn't the typical Japanese-style karaage I'm used to with a crispy breading. It tasted more like chicken nuggets. I shared that feedback with them, and they were receptive, so I'm hopeful it evolves as they continue refining the menu. Their yuzu beignets for dessert was very enjoyable! I was really pleased by this restaurant. The sushi was fresh, the atmosphere was inviting, and they even had some select menu items from one of my favorite spots, Beijing House. Had an opportunity to try Fortune Kitchen this weekend. Solid place. Very beautiful interior thanks to a pretty extensive renovation. The restaurant is owned by the owners of Beijing House, so you feel the same style in their menus and service, which is great! This restaurant focuses more on sushi, ramen, and Japanese izakaya with some other Chinese dishes. The ramen was solid, with good broth and solid noodles. They are also generous with the Soft Boiled Egg and Pork Charsu slices. I hope they expand the menu even more and I look forward to trying more items! Went here to see what the difference was between this and Rain Bistro, which was the previous restaurant that had the spot. Noticeably busier than Rain was, but the menu is made up of AI pictures and descriptions and the wait time was long (nearly 15 minutes to be asked to order and another 20-30 for food to come out). Additionally, my appetizer came out after my food. Food was decent, a little pricey, and each sushi roll is priced a la carte. No background music so it's easy to hear across a table (which, unless you have a booth, will shake) but you lose the ambiance it had before. Wouldn't recommend over another sushi spot, though the chicken tempura sushi taco is pretty good. read more

Tried this brand new Sushi restaurant on their grand opening day. I'm a sushi connoisseur. I am very specific about my taste and how my sushi is prepared. I can't say enough great things about this establishment. First off the quality of the sushi is what deserves recognization the most in my opinion. They prepared the food perfectly and every piece of fish I had was fresh. The salmon practically melts the second it touches your tongue, buttery and clean with no hint of fishiness. The tuna is vibrant and silky, with that perfect balance of richness and delicacy. Even the yellowtail has that bright, ocean-sweet finish that tells you it was handled with real care You can tell the chefs truly respect their craft. I'm genuinely beaming at how great this restaurant is. I will be coming back consistently. The matcha frappe is my favorite drink EVER! It's made with oat milk so it's all 10's from me. My fiancé and I decided to come here for dinner yesterday and when I say there was no one in there it was completely empty and the sever/ host was very rude and barely came to our table ( her one table she had) instead her and a cook were eating at a table right behind us. The food was terrible my sushi was wrapped completely wrong and it fell apart as soon as I picked it up, and my fiancé ordered rice with pork cutlets, while he was eating he found 2 stands of beard hair under his pork. Fortune Kitchen is by far one of the better if not the best sushi restaurant I've been too around USF, and this is coming from someone who eats sushi every week multiple times. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, I had a nice conversation with the owner Wesley and he even let me try the passion fruit tea on the house which was sooo good. It is a nice quiet, and very clean establishment which is also a huge plus. I ordered the tuna, white tuna, salmon, and octopus sashimi and each bite I had was phenomenal and you could tell this fish was fresh.
