I…read morehave been getting my lashes done at a salon in the city for about two years and the most glaring difference is in the quality/strength of the lashes. I gave my lashes a break and was sucked in by the $80 full lash set vs $250 typical cost. I figured I'd check it out - and could have my regular place continue with the fills if I didn't like it. Here's my breakdown: 1. I asked what brand of lashes was used. I used Novalah, Xtreme is another popular brand. These are two of the top brands. The front desk was unable to give me a specific brand they used. I thought that was odd. 2. Application - it wasn't bad. There's a lot of 'song and dance' crap they do that probably isn't needed. I've never; in two years; needed my lashes cleansed, misted, sealed, or fanned. It is two hours for a full set - and I was extremely bored as my stylist did not talk to me much. Granted, this is not required, but it helps when you are stuck in one place, eyes closed for two hours. 3. When I got home and really looked at them I was rather disappointed. I had gotten the "Glamorous" style. This is described as "longer, thicker lashes" on the website. They were not much longer or fuller than my normal lashes. And there were more than a few askew. The thickness of the lashes was also disappointing. There is not any sturdiness to them. I'm not surprised there are multiple reviews saying they fall out easily. All in all - if you are looking for an inexpensive first try of extensions this is a good option. If it's a long term experience you are looking for, I'd suggest a salon that advertises the brand of lashes they use. This makes a big difference to the longevity of wear.

I went yesterday to get a permanent bracelet, anklet and ring from Gretchen. I liked that this location was closest to me and that the pricing was extremely affordable in comparison to some other locations I researched! I should note that this location is in an older house, on the second floor. It was a bit hard to find and the signs were barely visible from the road. That's my only critique. Gretchen was extremely patient, helpful and sweet. She carefully helped me select a chain and charms I was happy with. She gave helpful suggestions but was in no way pushy and very happy to answer questions. I had brought my 7 year old son with me and she even explained the welding process to him as he was interested in that part and let him watch with her safety glasses! She really went above and beyond to make it a fun experience. I liked that nearly all chains are the same pricing--I believe $65 for a gold plated bracelet and $75 for an anklet (I believe the sterling silver were priced a bit less?) Charms are $15 and there was a lot to choose from. She was running a summer special at the time for $140 for an anklet, bracelet and ring which I thought was a great deal! Gretchen explained "the jewelry is as permanent as you'd like it to be" meaning it shouldn't tarnish but you can easily remove it with a pair or scissors or pliers if you decide to. She can reweld it back on you later if you like! I saw one other review say her jewelry tarnished and fell off fairly quickly. Gretchen did say she will reweld any jewelry that falls off. She also had several anklets and bracelets on that she had worn for a while that looked as good as new. I'm optimistic my jewelry will stand up to wear and tear but I'll try to update the review in a few months. I'm already planning a trip back with a girlfriend to get more bracelets added!!
