Updating my review after all these years because Pelican has officially become one of our favourite…read morerestaurants in Ottawa! Funny enough, my original review was from when we randomly discovered their seafood market while going to Farm Boy next door. Since then, we've dined here countless times and even spent our first anniversary here. It became our tradition and we've been coming back to celebrate our anniversary every year since. Their Chi Chi Seafood Tower is hands down our favourite and basically a must-order every time. Everything is always so fresh and it's perfect if you're a seafood lover. We tried the snow crab linguini for the first time on our most recent visit and it was sooo buttery and delicious. Their lobster poutine is another favourite we've had before and is honestly to die for! Over the years we've tried quite a few things here and the quality has always kept us coming back. I also love that there's still a seafood market attached, so you can pick up fresh seafood to bring home as well. From randomly walking into the market years ago to now celebrating our anniversary here every year, Pelican has definitely become a special spot for us. If you're a seafood lover in Ottawa, this is THE spot I always recommend.

I really like The Seafood Grill--it's perhaps one of my favourite seafood spots around in Ottawa…read more The ingredients were fresh and delicious. Although the portion was not the biggest for its price (I got the paella and two spring rolls, which ended up around 50 dollars for me), they were filling, and the seafood ingredients were very solid. The paella was super delicious, especially the chorizo sausage bits. They were bursting with flavour, which really complements the other seafood. My friend got the Tony's Bouillabaisse, which I thought was delicious too (although I don't think she liked it all that much). The spring rolls were super yummy. They were fried to crispy perfection and filled with steaming hot shrimp, crab bits, and lettuce. It was super fun to eat, too. My favourite thing about The Seafood Grill was how freshly cooked every single dish was. All three dishes came out steaming hot, which I knew they had prepared freshly in the back. All seafood restaurants should do it like The Seafood Grill as the gold standard. I think I'll be back next time I'm in town, especially if I can visit the Kanata area. I really want to try their fish and chips and all the other dishes. Great service (I loved the cold water). The vibe was fun (tho there were a couple of flies, which I assumed were inevitable in the middle of summer).

Always a great experience. Fantastic food…read more Casual ambiance. Excellent service. Been dining here for over a decade, and it never disappoints.

The Shore Club - Fancy, Flavourful, and Wife-Approved…read more Date night with my gorgeous wife took us to The Shore Club -- and let me tell you, we felt fancy the moment we walked in. It's the kind of place where you instinctively sit up straighter and try not to touch anything with sauce on your fingers. From the start, the service was excellent. The staff treated us like regulars, even though we clearly looked like two parents on the loose for one rare adult-only evening. We were seated in a cozy spot that let us feel tucked away from the world -- just what we needed. Now let's talk food. I had steak, she had seafood -- or maybe I should say we had both, because married life means "sharing" whether you like it or not. Everything was cooked perfectly. My steak hit that perfect medium rare mark that most places miss, and her seafood was fresh enough I almost expected it to sing. The portions were generous, the flavours rich but not overpowering, and everything looked too good to eat (but don't worry, we managed). The wine selection was great, and the sommelier knew his stuff without being pushy. My wife was impressed -- which meant I was winning. We left full, happy, and with just enough energy to consider dessert... but let's be honest, we were already talking about our bedtime before we got to the car. Final verdict: The Shore Club is ideal for special occasions, romantic dinners, or if you're just in the mood to treat yourself like royalty. We'll definitely be back -- as soon as we find another babysitter.

Usually when I get escargot it comes with just 6 snails still in shells, but this one they are already deshelled and overflowing. The duck confit was also perfectly cooked with large portions. Wow...wow...wow...WOW! You know how you think you found your…read morefavourite restaurant and you think of that meal with complete fondness and think you'll never find anything better. This was the better. Literally, this is the best meal out I've ever had. There was only one tiny disappointment, which was that I'd looked at an old menu online and didn't realize and picked out this amazing sounding drink beforehand. If you see the Major Payne online, don't pick it in advance! LOL I did get a super nice Prosecco at happy hour for a fabulous price. My server was Jamie, and I ordered every suggestion she made, and was not disappointed. Started with a salad, perfect mix of sweet with charred peanuts for a touch of bitter. The cheese that was on that salad was phenomenal. One of the best salads I've ever eaten. Dinner was the lobster risotto. Hands down, best risotto I've ever eaten...and I thought Vessel in NOLA would never be beaten. So creamy. The butter poached lobster was perfect, so tender. There were macadamia nuts, which broke up the creaminess of the risotto and crispy sage, which was also a perfect break from that rich, perfectly cooked rice. Never had a better dish out. I'll be dreaming about it for months after I go home. I wasn't even thinking about dessert, but Jamie brought over a menu with so many gluten-free options. I got a mini pavlova that had coconut cream inside and raspberries and blueberries. I don't usually enjoy desserts with berries, but the tang was such a perfect compliment to the vanilla/coconut. Nice crispy shell too. It was so light that after the risotto, it didn't make me feel overstuffed. Such a cute, homey vibe, and I had a seat by the window and could watch the busy street. Wonderful that they had a parking lot too (free). Service was perfect. Jamie had a real sense for when she should stop by and kept my water glass filled at all times (and it was small). She was amazing. I left my glasses in the window sill and had pulled the curtain, so I missed them when I left. I went right back and she had held onto them for me. This place is perfection. I know it will be one of the top highlights of this birthday trip! Please, visit and have that lobster risotto. Your tummy will do a happy dance!

YES, IT'S WORTH YOUR VISIT!! It's officially my FAVOURITE…read morespot in Ottawa. I've been to many restaurants over the last couple years I've moved to Ottawa, but coming from the GTA, my taste buds have been spoiled from the other side. We visited for our anniversary dinner just from googling our way through, called couple hours in advance and got a slot for 9:15PM. When we got there it was packed, I got a little impatient waiting until just after 9:45 to be seated, we ended up getting the couch table in the patio. Super warm and cozy, I forgot all about the wait by the time we sat down. My other half is usually picky, but this place has my heart, we loved every part of the seafood tower, even the sushi & sashimi was prepared perfectly. Don't even get me started on the hamachi sashimi in that tower... For a Mediterranean place, I am IMPRESSED!! The scallop was nicely done, just seared enough and not cooked through so you can taste the sweetness. The lobster was also on point, . We ordered the Arancini because we saw the photos online, it's average. We also got the dessert. Now... I'm not a fan of s'mores or sweets, but we could not stop digging into that plate! We've already booked a 2nd visit for another celebration tonight, simply because I couldn't stop talking about trying their Tomahawk steak that I saw the next table eat. Yes, pricy, but this time we got another friend to join so we can get some help on sharing that bill . All in all, even though it's expensive, it's WORTH IT. Highly recommend!
