My friends and I wanted to start w an app so we went for the onion pakoras and as someone who's had her fair share of them this was def on the top of my list. We just had dinner with our daughter and son in-law tonight during our first snow storm in Ottawa. This is a very nice restaurant, the staff were very friendly, the appetizers and main courses were all highly rated by our group, the drinks were reasonably priced. Overall a very enjoyable meal. We normally go to Host India but this will be our new favourite Indian restaurant. read more

My wife and i had 6 pm reservations on a Wednesday, but it wasn't at all necessary. The parking was very convenient and the restaurant seating was ample. The waitress was from Gujarat and was very pleasant. I had chicken tikka and my wife had fish tikka. We shared pur dishes. For a side dish we shared paneer Madras curry and tandoori nan. It was all freshly made and served piping hot. We totally enjoyed it and plan to go back in the future. read more

Exhausted for day long travel, I longed for tasty eats delivered directly to my hotel room. Sona (with the help of Door Dash) really delivered (literally). I ordered their chicken tikka masala with rice and an order of their garlic naan. The chicken tikka was ample and flavorful. I had plenty to enjoy for lunch the next day (one order would be plenty for two). The garlic naan is huge! It was toasty warm and had the perfect chewy texture with a nice garlic zing. It was big enough for 2-3 people. Everything was packaged up perfectly so that my meal arrived to me intact and toasty warm. They also prepared it reasonably quickly so I didn't have to wait an inordinate time for my meal. Thanks so much to Sona for making the day for this weary traveler! Get to it! read more

I was at an event that was catered by Sona the Indian Kitchen. There were many vegan options and the food was delicious. When they delivered the food, they took the time to show me which dishes were vegan. Every dish was properly labeled and those that were vegan had a "V" on them making it easy to identify. They also provide in restaurant dining. I would highly recommend giving them a try. read more

Sleepy Boyfriend, Spicy Lunch Savior! When my boyfriend kicks me out for his beauty sleep, I find solace in Sona Indian Restaurant. I'm welcomed with open arms and mouth-watering Indian delights. Who needs a cozy bed when you have spicy food to lift your sad spirits? Thank you for saving my lunch hour with laughter and curry! The butter chicken tasted like a rosé sauce, and a bit salty. The onion Bharji were incredible. Naan was great too.

We were in Ottawa for the night visiting from Toronto. Meeting up with a couple of friends for dinner not sure where to go, I Yelp-ed around where closest to both parties and this India restaurant popped up. Not a lot of review and photos but all are positive so we said why not! It was snowing mixed with ice-pellets and it was my first time in that part of Ottawa so we ventured out and upon arriving at the restaurant, our friends were there already and they were the only customers. We thought maybe because of the nasty weather so we didn't bother. We sat down, chat for a bit and ordered dinner with the help from the friendly staff's recommendation. Food starting to arrive and boy oh boy, aren't they delicious! So as mentioned we were from Toronto so we have had a fair share of fantastic Indian meals and Sona did not disappoint. And as time past more customers came in and guess what, they are all Indian, and that's when you know you went to the right place! Last but not least, when the bill came it was surprisingly less than what I thought it would be... so what does that mean? We will be back for sure!!! read more

This restaurant really is a diamond in the rough. Tucked away in a dark plaza, you would never guess the size of the spacious beautiful dining room. The food; the glorious food! We had the chicken korma and butter chicken and we were given enough food for two more meals each. Creamy, multifaceted sauces and chicken beast pieces delighted our tastebuds. The service was impeccable with such an attentive, polite server. All in all we are definitely adding this place to our all-star list and bringing friends! read more

We found this amazing restaurant and went in to eat twice to "taste test" their food and service prior to a special catering event being planned. We were blown away. We have many Indian cuisine lovers in our family and for my husbands 60 th they prepared a five star meal for 23 of us. Their food is the best we have had in all our travels. Our Toronto cousins felt the same best they have had. In dining experience is Five star as well, courteous, respectful , just right. A new gem for Ottawa foodies! read more
