We have a New (to us) fuel/ convenience store on our route to Nags Head. Need a coffee & potty break while refueling? Their pumps are easy to manuever, even during tourist season. Of course the smell of hot food is the first to catch our attention. We were indeed tempted with hot potato wedges and chicken tenders so we chose the seasoned wedges to nibble on during our trip.  And of course a pumpkin spice coffee for me. Now don't get me wrong, I still love the donut shop across the street from this Royal Farms. But today was a good day to try this new pitstop. The Staff was so helpful & restrooms were clean so we signed up for a perks card. Then on our trip home we'll get to use those perks. read more

Many pumps out of gas. All window cleaning liquid containers empty. Bathroom had 2 stalls with lots of sand on the floor. Third stall had toilet not tightly secured to floor. One soap dispenser in restroom was empty. Main area had "old old" cooking odor. There are other stations close by with the same priced gas. Go across the street to Shell. read more

Brand new gas station here in Grandy! It's very big, lots of gas pumps. I'm even tempted to try the chicken (which for transitioning out of vegetarianism sounds funny). Gas prices are decent, it looks like it's about 15 cents less per gallon than a lot of the local gas stations nearby. read more

About 20 fuel pumps at this brand new station, and every windshield wash bucket is dry as a bone.

The first time I went a week ago I ordered a breakfast sandwich and after 20 mins they called my number and apologized because they overlooked my number and I said that was cool, no problem. I went out to the car and the sandwich felt light so I opened it and it was missing the egg. I came back in and let them know and they made me another one which was ok with me. People, like me, make mistakes. A few days ago my wife was coming up from Nags Head and asked if I wanted anything from Royal Farms and I said, "yeah, get me a 4 piece tender please." She got home (which is 40 mins away) and the picture below is what I got. The one normal tender is standing up and you can see what else was in there. I am not sure if they were even tenders. She got mad and drove all the way back there and the lady looked at her like she was crazy and with an attitude she said "give her 4 more tenders." It's bad enough it was almost $10 for 4 tenders, but to get that attitude after all that driving was upsetting to her. They also charged 40 cents for a small ranch pack. That is just crazy. My neighbor said their chicken was too salty and I had to agree. So much for the excitement. BTW, the gas is 10 cents cheaper at the two stores across the street each time we pasted by last week. Compared to a Sheetz or Wawa, this place needs to step it up. The pricing was kind of ridiculous for how much you get. The quality of everything was off putting as well. The sandwich I got was okay. The bread didn't seem fresh but the sandwich was hot. It had good flavor. The biscuit was very mid. It needed to have a more butter taste in my opinion. It was missing some salt or something else. I added jelly to it and it helped slightly. The Mac and cheese was pretty good surprisingly. It was gooey and the ratio of macaroni to cheese was spot on. The service here was okay, it did take a little longer than normal to get the food but the lady was super nice and seemed to be working hard. Overall, if you need something quick, just get a premade sandwich, it's cheaper. The gas was super cheap but the food wasn't. If you are super hungry it would've be the worst thing, just try and be smart about what you buy. Some things are way cheaper than others and the same amount of food. read more

I've been in the store maybe 4-5 times and they have consistently provided the worst Customer Service I have ever experienced in my life and I'm 57 years old. The last time I made a complaint to corporate they called and asked me to come in for a free meal to give them another chance, but that will be the last chance they get. The manager at the front was definitely on something. The way she acted when I was in there with my newborn and the way she was talking to other customers and myself was very disrespectful. I told her I would never be returning again and that I live right up the road and would be filing a complaint and she said who cares go ahead. I'm a local! DO NOT GO HERE! When this first came to currituck i figured I'd give it a shot. I've been here 7-8 times and NOT 1 SINGLE TIME have they gotten my order correct. Always forgetting something. I don't write reviews ever but this last visit pushed me over the edge. Ordered a 12 peice family meal, comes with 2 sides rolls 6 sauces. What i got was 12 tiny tenders 1 side of mashed potatoes missing gravy and 4 sauces. How much did this amazing meal cost..... 42$ .Most overpriced overrated food. Terrible service. Do our community a favor and go to a local chicken place like barco mart, currituck meat market, or any of the 20+ places in currituck that have better cheaper chicken made with soul. Not this cooperate manufactured fake nonsense. Carolina doesn't want or need dumpster fire places like this from up north. Shop local. I am ID verified with the royal Farms card and I have recently lost my drivers license and there is one clerk at the Grandy store that will not sell me cigarettes because I lost my drivers license...I am almost 60 years old I am ID verified they send me cigarette coupons And when I put my number and I get discounts so she knows I'm old enough to buy cigarettes but she refuses to sell them to me because she knows I do not have my ID at this time...every other clerk in the store knows me and sells me cigarettes but her.....so from now on I will no longer step foot in Royal Farms again....I will just get my cigarette discount at the duck through across the street It seems like every time I've been in Royal Farms since It opened a customer is in there yelling about something and it always seems to be when that girl is working read more

I feel like the 3 people who were working were likely doing the best that they could, but it wasn't enough. Ordered a shredded chicken 'bunless', grilled chicken sandwich, and an order of potatoes. The shredded chicken was full of gristle and other skin/fat, my husband actually threw it away. My 'grilled' chicken had a hint of brown from the grill, but overall was white and wet with no hint of the honey mustard that I selected. The potatoes were ok, didn't seem like they had been cooked long enough. Overall, the coffee station needed to be restocked, the condiments at food pick up needed to be restocked, and then you have to check yourself out. Paid $30 for two sandwiches, order of potatoes, two coffees. One associate was wandering around outside, maybe it was break time, but some things needed attention inside. Will not be back for this 'famous' chicken as they aren't famous for flavor and quality, that is for sure. Maybe it was an off day. Awful experience, I'd give negative stars if I could. We waited 30 minutes and they didn't call our number when it was ready, just put an unmarked bag on the counter. Because the bag was unmarked and they never said a number we went up and asked if our food was ready, again this was after 30 minutes had passed. The lady then pointed at said unmarked bag and said "i don't know, is that yours?" Like how should I know you made it and there are 25 other people in here. We told her our order number and she said it was ~probably~ our bag. One of her coworkers asked her a question during this interaction and she said in from of us "i don't know, I'm too busy helping these idiots find an order that was done 20 orders ago." Great, so we take our food, got back in the car, unpacked our food, come to find out they forgot one of our sandwiches. I get it, it was busy. Service was beyond awful. Order was placed through their kiosk. It never made it to their screen. After 25 minutes of other orders being made, we asked where ours was. They just stared at us and continued to help others. Order was already paid for. Robin, who we are told was the manager, was extremely unprofessional. She did absolutely NOTHING to rectify the situation. She said "the writing is too small on the receipt and she didn't have her glasses". She then told us to "go get a refund". Person issuing the refund was probably the only decent one there. She should be the manager as Robin obviously needs more training. read more

The ATM machine located within the store, shorted me $80.00 on a withdrawal from my debit card. I clearly had the receipt stating requested $200 received $120. I showed the receipt and my statement from my phone app to the store manager.She called her boss Mr.James who did nothing but apologize. No comments about following up with the ATM company or could they intercede with the ATM vendor, who they allowed in their store. Absolutely horrible customer service. All I received was call the number on the machine, we can't do anything. I wasn't expecting Royal Farms to reimburse me but I was expecting them to be more proactive with assisting me in resolving the issue. Word of mouth is the best and worst form of advertising. First time visit to Royal Farms. Got the 2 piece chicken. The chicken was ok but the fries tasted like old grease and the biscuit was dry. The gas prices were the lowest in the area. I hope of I visit again the fries taste fresh and like fries not old grease. read more

I was really disapointed visiting the new Royal Farms Store in Grandy NC. Waited 30min for their "famous chicken" .Store not clean ,understaffed and the staff that is their is not very helpful? Why order a chicken sandwich the way you want it if they donot make it that way? out of honey mustard sauce and not enough chicken to get the 8 piece special that is advertised everywhere. I have a friend that works at the Royal farms in Grandy N.C. and I have been in fast food for a few years awhile back. And some of the things that I have seen the store leader Robyn H do while I have been in there I know is wrong. I have seen and heard her treat customers and employees like crap. She shows favoritism to a selected few employees there. I know for a fact that she has done one employees named Jamie Turner's test and stuff on the company cause I seen it with my own eyes. He couldn't pass the test so she is doing the stuff for him so he can move higher up in the store ahead of other employees and that's not fair to them. I have read the Royal farms handbook and I know for a fact that is not allowed. If headquarters was to do what they are supposed to do and go look at the cameras they will see just what I'm talking about. Robyn H and Jamie Turner both should be held responsible for the wrong they are both doing. They need to be investigated by headquarters. I definitely hope headquarters investigate them and makes the right decisions for their actions. Thanks a very unhappy customer. read more
