Royal Farms is an ideal rest stop it has pretty much everything you need. The fried chicken is ok and the potato wedges are pretty good too.

Great fried chicken but subpar customer service. I understand it's not their dream job however would it hurt to fake a smile say thank you after customer checks out?

Chicken 'n potato wedges!

So, is this a gas station that sells food....or a restaurant that sells gas? The world may never know. No, my friend, this isn't 7-Eleven or Wawa "food" either, but rather REAL food. Subs, burgers, and some of the best chicken & wedges you may not be familiar with. I'd rate this up there with Gus's, Dutch Market, Roy Rogers, and even Popeyes (provided you find a decent location that is, lol). I watched the guy this afternoon open up the pressure cooker fryer to reveal that golden deliciousness. He was talking smack too about how he cooks with "love" and how we weren't ready for what he was about to bless our eyes with.... lolololol! Funny cook! In any case, because they pressure fry like KFC, you get that moisture locked in flavor. They aren't nearly as salty or greasy as KFC can be often though. I got a 10 peice dark 6 - chicken tenders Family size wedges $25 These are NOT Chuck E. Cheese kiddie menu tenders either. They are the size of HALF a breast. VERY adult. No joke. Not dry, but JUICY breast meat. I'm addicted and I don't particularly care for tenders - anywhere! They have lots of sides but I always get the fries. No place to sit (not that you'd want to dine at a gas station mini mart anyway), so it's all grab 'n go. More specifically, you use one of three touch screen entry terminals to place your order - go to the front counter to pay - then come back to pick up your food. Enjoy 'n thank me later.:)

The fried chicken is pretty damn amazing and the best fast-food fried chicken per Food and Wine Magazine. You order your food at a kiosk, go to the cashier to pay, and go back to pick up your food. Gas prices are fairly comparable to Costco so am wondering why people would not just go here. They also offer a rewards program so I may just sign up soon.

Coincidence?
Jason J.

I've been hearing about Royal Farms' "world famous chicken" since moving to the area, so I thought it was about time to check it out. I needed to put gas in my car anyway. After filling up I placed my order on the kiosk (And got a shake at she shake machine. I mean, how awesome is that! You can even select how thick you want it.) and paid at the counter. By the time I finished paying my chicken was ready and I headed home. Oddly enough when I turned on the kitchen television, there was Justin Tucker promoting Royal Farms. The chicken had a good flavor but I'm not sure about world famous. (Sure, I guess someone in Australia or Poland might have said once "I had some fantastic chicken at this gas station in Maryland once. You should try it if you're ever in the area.) It was 3 star chicken for me. The 4th star is for having a shake machine.

In addition to their seafood selection, their produce section is one of my favorites. Well spread out, nothing is wilting or molded, and they push for customers to bring their own bags! Surprisingly, at times they have completely random and "exotic" veggies and fruits that you may not find elsewhere. Try them out! The line was 10 people long for 1 register. I watched Debra come out and it looked like she might open a register. I sent my son over to ask if she was opening a lane. She ignored him the first two times and then said no the third time he asked. (He's a shy, quiet 8yo). She then pulled the two people directly in front of us over to her new line and then announced anyone with less than 15 items could line up in order behind the people she had pulled over. I listened to her call the people ahead of us sweetie & darling. But when we finally got in line it was all very glum business. Once I got my receipt I pointed out to her I had watched her lie to my son. She acted like she didn't know and I quietly reminded her he had asked if she was opening a lane and she told him no and then literally opened the lane 30 seconds later. She yelled at us a few times as we exited the store telling us she would go get her manager. A kind lady behind us was appalled at how we'd been treated. Does Debra hate children? What did we do to deserve that?

The aisle leading to self-checkout has been partially blocked by cardboard dumps in a clumsy attempt at traffic control. I get it--our festering society has normalized theft to the point that a store is vulnerable. But maybe consider customer loss-control? Got it Here it is with no emojis at all, same great energy:…read more --- I had such a great experience at Trader Joe's Elkridge today. I interacted with at least five different staff members, and every single one of them was friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond. They helped me find everything on my list without hesitation and made the whole shopping experience easy and pleasant. At one point, we thought an item was out of stock--but just as I was about to check out, one of the associates caught me and let me know they had found it. That extra effort was the touchdown icing on the cake. This location really embodies what great customer service looks like. Well done, Elkridge Trader Joe's--you've earned a loyal customer!

My experience at Trader Joe's Columbia, MD on 2/21/2026 --…read moreright before the snowstorm -- was extremely disappointing and embarrassing. I attempted to return a few items, and the store manager processed the return in a way that felt unnecessarily confrontational and humiliating, especially in a very crowded store. I was questioned in a manner that singled me out, even though Trader Joe's is known for accepting returns if customers are not satisfied with a product. What made this more upsetting is that I have personally witnessed other customers return items without being questioned at all. I won't mention who. It appears that management selectively decides who to scrutinize, which feels unfair and inconsistent. I contacted corporate to address the situation, and while the store lead did follow up, there was no real accountability -- only explanations and excuses for the manager's behavior. No acknowledgment of how inappropriate the public interaction was. Additionally, some items sold in the store are marketed in a way that seems healthy but contain ingredients that are far from it, which adds to my growing concern as a customer. I expect professionalism, consistency, and respect -- especially from management. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. My experience at Trader Joe's on 2/21/2026, just before the snowstorm, was deeply disappointing and humiliating. I attempted to return a few items and was questioned by the store manager in a way that felt confrontational and unnecessary, especially in a very crowded store. The interaction felt public and embarrassing. What concerns me most is that I have observed other customers return items without being subjected to the same level of questioning. As a Black/African American customer, the inconsistency in how returns are handled raises serious concerns for me about fairness and equal treatment. I contacted corporate, and although the store lead followed up, there was no accountability -- only explanations. There was no acknowledgment of how inappropriate it was to address a customer in that manner in front of others. All customers deserve to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and consistency. I hope this location takes steps to ensure equitable treatment for everyone. Please " do better for your retention customers "

The customer service is very slow and inconvenient. They have lots of cool different items that you can't get in other places. We don't come here regularly, but our kids love the train, the car shopping carts with steering wheels, and the fact that their bathrooms have stools to make things accessible. We love the garlic Tuscan bread at the bakery too and their variety of seltzer flavors.

Representing 2019, W is for Wegmans. As my girlfriend & I have commented on some occasions…read moreparticularly when we've gone to grocery store together is they are all annoying, no perfect store. Wegmans at 3-stars is definitely above median as far as grocery stores go, but I have my complaints about them in spite of some solid positives. Only ones get greater than 3-stars would be Lidl in Columbia & Harris-Teeter in Fulton & Laurel have been positive experience, but HT prices average pretty high. When I've mentioned I'm going or went to Wegmans for groceries, people often comment they are expensive. While Wegmans isn't as cheap as Aldi, Lidl, or Wal-Mart, prices are a mixed bag here with some deals & would say cheaper than Harris-Teeter on average. I think even crappy grocery store Giant is no cheaper than Wegmans, & Safeway runs on expensive side too. In late 2010's, my experiences at Wegmans was mainly buffet mostly at Columbia location but also had been to other locations. My office is near Columbia one, so it was an occasional lunch option when I wanted to do buffet. In 2019, I believe buffet was $9.99/lb. I'd carefully load up, & the price would get to double digits, maybe like $13 or 15. One time I had work travel to Largo, MD in a prior company near Wegmans over there in 2013 or 2014, may have been $8.99/lb then. I was starving at 2:30 PM that day & really loaded up with a ton of delicious food, & I was horrified when my total was like $21 in 2013-2014. I forked up money, but was upset but then a little less upset after pigging out on all the delicious food. Mac n' cheese, various meats, rice, etc. are all yummy. One noteworthy lunch break from my office was on Monday, December 30, 2019. Parking garage was wet from cars coming in from rain, & I slipped landing on my back! I hurt my back. Thankfully, my New Year Day 2020, I was doing a lot better, but those last few days of 2019 weren't best. When Covid hit, buffet went away, but it came back by 2022. In July 2022, I was at a new Wegmans in Alexandria & was shocked when I saw $14.99/lb for buffet. I was going to do, but I opted not to as I couldn't justify such a high price. I think I might've done pizza slices, which were pretty good, & if it wasn't then, I know I had their pizza before at sometime. I just remembered my friend complained about her burger. I never got a burger at Wegmans before, but to be fair, she is very fickle when it comes to food quality & service issues at restaurants. Like a 4-star restaurant experience might be a 2-star experience for her, but I do appreciate she speaks up for herself & politely complains to server when sometimes isn't right for her. I think I did fork over $14.99/lb one time in 2024, but I had to be very careful not to overdo it at high prices, & think I paid like $17 in total. In more recent years, I've used Wegmans more as a viable grocery store option most commonly Columbia location, which is my closest location from my home in Russett, western Anne Arundel County, but also occasionally Gambrills one. One of the big positives of Wegmans is there is a huge variety of food in pretty much every category. I've gotten a wide variety of foods & even things I'm not thinking to look for or wouldn't be able to find at some other grocery store. Store is pretty clean & like model train that goes around above dairy area; it's a nice touch. I have friend from Buffalo, who loves Wegmans, as they started in western New York. Even in Maryland, if you're a Buffalo Bills fan, you can buy Bills clothes here. Thankfully, you can also buy Ravens gear too. On April 8, 2024, a group of us viewed total solar eclipse in Rochester, NY. Reason for Rochester as opposed to Buffalo, Cleveland, or other areas that had eclipse was one friend was born in Rochester, so held a special place in his heart. He showed us his childhood home & also mentioned how Wegmans was established in Rochester. Checked online now, year established was 1916. My biggest complaint occurred two consecutive visits in late 2025-early 2026. First time I had gotten a small percent of grocery shopping done in there when I discovered they had no turkey bacon. You want pork bacon, regular turkey, chicken, beef, seafood, etc., tons of variety, but no turkey bacon. I was annoyed & decided to abandon the couple of items I already got telling an employee & rushed to Weis closing at 9. Perhaps a month later, I told my girlfriend about last time their lack of turkey bacon. I said we are going straight to that area, & if they don't have we leave. They didn't have. I asked a worker who checked back but confirmed none. I told the guy they lost about $100 in business & to tell management it was bad. On Thursday, 1/22 before Ice/Snowstorm on 1/25, a lot was picked over but I managed as they have enough variety of things where I didn't get my 1st choice but I made do. Overall, Wegmans is a mixed experience.
