We found this spot while looking for a mid-afternoon brunch with a classic diner feel, and we got exactly what we came for! We went here on Labor Day around 1 PM, and the restaurant was relatively empty. We were seated right away at a little table near the window. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel like regulars from the start! I ordered a lox bagel and a side of bacon with coffee, while my partner ordered the grilled cheese and Thai iced tea. Everything we ordered hit the spot! The salmon tasted fresh, with delicious slabs of cream cheese adorning the toasted bagel. It also came with tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. The bacon had a nice crunchy texture, although I did find it somewhat plain tasting. My parter thoroughly enjoyed the grilled cheese and sweet, creamy Thai iced tea. The service was prompt and attentive the entire time, and we really enjoyed the classic, no-frills, old-fashioned diner experience we got here. This will definitely become a regular in our brunch rotation!

Donuts are in the name, but the breakfast is fantastic. Diner-like atmosphere with friendly and quick service. Unfortunately, there are no waffle houses in California, but this definitely scratches the itch. Chicken fried steak, corned beef hash, omelettes are all solid. Although I am firmly team waffle, the pancakes here are quite fluffy. They have the automated freshly squeezing orange juice machine, but they must get good oranges because the juice is delicious. It's nice when you get what you want and this place definitely does that for no frills breakfast.
Royal Donut is a cute hole in the wall spot on Broadway. I hear great things about their donuts, but we came in for breakfast. It's quite a simple spot serving up your traditional breakfast & lunch fare, including eggs benedicts, breakfast burritos, and waffles. I went with the All American, which came with eggs, hash browns, toast, and choice of meat, of which I ordered the chicken apple sausage. The hash browns came out crispy, just like I like them. The meal was good, however I feel like the price didn't justify the amount or quality of food. I know prices are rising, and this is south bay, but an extra slice of sausage or a few more hash browns would've been nice. I'm giving four stars because everything was good overall, just wish the price wasn't so gouging for what you get.

Disappointing. Ordered a turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich and was very disappointed. I opened the sandwich and inside each half was one half of a single piece of bacon. Not even a full piece! All for the ridiculous price of $17.99! For that price I should have had at least three full slices of bacon minimum. The sandwich was flavorless. Came with fries and those also had no flavor. Won't be ordering from there again.

The place is located in downtown Broadway in Burlingame with plenty of paid street parking and also a lot nearby. The place is clean and the staff are welcoming. Our server was friendly and attentive to our orders. They have varieties of options on their menu and so many selections to choose from which I thought was exciting. We ordered our meals, and didn't wait long to be served and our food came fresh and tasted great. highly recommend this place!

All the food here is delicious and the service is fantastic! We forgot to take pictures of the pancakes and country fried steak but everything we ordered was delicious. The pancakes were the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had! Can't wait to try other items on their menu. Classic diner ambiance!
Nice little neighborhood donut and breakfast cafe. RDC is on the app Too Good To Go which is a app that gives leftover food at a deep discounted price and it is a surprise bag. So you won't know what you will get until you receive it. I came in at 10 am on a Sunday morning and received a box a few minutes later filled with 9 assorted donuts for $5.99. A great deal, the donuts didn't taste old or stale. They actually tasted good and a good assortment. I'll have to come back and try the breakfast. Service was really nice and fast. Street parking
Royal Donut has been a Sunday morning staple for about 3 years. As a former Nini's on Bayswater patron, this has taken over as the go to Sunday morning breakfast spot that's cozy and relaxing. Favorites are: -breakfast burrito, a hearty and comforting meal -egg plate, nice for a medium sized breakfast -buttermilk pancakes, the fluffiest and best flavored pancakes on the peninsula imo -any donut, all are fresh and delicious, but love their chocolate sprinkles, chocolate cake cruller, and apple fritter. Pros: friendly service, cozy diner feel, delicious comfort breakfast food, on the less busy downtown Burlingame strip. Cons: n/a

This is my first time to this location, let's see how it went: Parking is street side ; first come gets the spot. Inside was a modestly lit atmosphere which works well for this shop. The service was great friendly and on point. The items we selected were via a To good to app, but were very good as well. Living in San Mateo my whole life and just discovered this cute cafe. The host was incredible and super friendly! I'm really indecisive and he was so patient with us but I loved that he would constantly check in :) My friend ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee which was the perfect amount of sweetness and I would totally recommend! I ordered a black coffee which was also really good! It wasn't bitter at all and it didn't require any sugar. For food, I ordered #3 the egg plate and replaced it with pancakes. My friend ordered the omelette and both were great! The portion sizing was just right. I would definitely come back and try out the other items because they all seemed great! Also forgot to snap a picture of the pancake but it was light and fluffy! read more

It was ok diner food. We messed up by not getting donuts as there were so many patrons in and out simply for those. So def try the donuts. We got the biscuits and gravy breakfast with potatoes, over medium eggs and 1 bacon 1 sausage. The biscuits were def frozen and not made in house or fresh cause they tasted like card board, salt pepper or hot sauce couldn't help. Chicken fried steak was ok but gravy lacked flavor and all around was bland. We got a regular coffee and a Vietnamese coffee. My SO is Vietnamese and said it taste rather like an iced coffee with chai, not nasty but not viet coffee. Our server was a woman she was so nice and made sure to check here and there if we needed coffee refills. read more

Came here at 6:20am and the wait for food is quite long. We didn't get our food until 6:53am. There were 5 other tables excluding us. Staff is very friendly! There was only 1 waiter and 1 cook at that time that I saw. We got the country fried steak and it was pretty good. The gravy was a bit sweet for my taste. On the way out we got an apple fritter, crumb donut, original glaze donut. Apple fritter was extremely greasy. Original glaze had mold so I didn't eat it. I was pretty sad because it was so fluffy! I really wanted to try it! Quite unfortunate since someone from Recology recommended their donuts. Will try again next time. read more

Quick and delicious breakfast before dropping my son off at the airport. Friendly service with an old diner feel. We enjoyed all the traditional breakfast items and loved the donuts. Hashbrowns were crispy and all our eggs were cooked perfectly. The Country fried steak was impressive-crispy, thick and meaty. I really enjoyed my glazed old fashioned with coffee. We had to get some more donuts to go. We'll definitely be back! read more

Great place to get donuts and breakfast. Simple breakfast and quick. Portions are large and filling. Can't go wrong with corn beef hash and donuts will be back for quick breakfast or donuts now. The prices is reasonable and parking is ample on broadway in the morning to grab a quick bite. read more

My wife and I made our yearly trip to San Francisco for our anniversary, and we had bad food experience after bad food experience this time around, and after we found out our hotel was going to charge $35 for a very small breakfast buffet, we started looking for a new spot to eat. We saw Royal Donut Cafe and since it was close, we decided to go. It was the best decision we could make that day! The French toast was amazing, the pancakes were great, and the fresh squeezed OJ was so amazing! The waiter who helped us also made us feel so welcomed when we came in, and after the experiences we had that weekend, this made us feel so great. We got some donuts afterwards and they were a great snack driving home! If you're wanting to go to a great spot for breakfast, stop in to Royal Donut Cafe! read more
I was pretty impressed with my visit to Royal Donut Cafe. I didn't come for their donuts, but for their breakfast and they had some of the best country fried steak I've had a in a while. The interior is very dated so that might turn some people off, but they are expanding the restaurant and taking over the space next door. They said that there is a possibility that they open for dinner in the future too. Staff were very friendly as well. Parking in the area is certainly a pain in the area, but there are paid parking lots near by. Country Fried Steak & Eggs ($15.95) was what I ordered and it was massive. I was stuffed after eating it and the steak had the perfect breading. The sausage gravy was very tasty and the hash browns were also a large portion. The eggs they also cooked really well and they don't overcook them like I accidently do at home because I love runny eggs. It is definitely worth a visit here although I have no input on their donuts or pastries personally. Their breakfast is top tier though and you get large portions. Would recommend this breakfast spot to anyone in the area. read more
While walking down Broadway a nice man who worked at the barber shop stopped to tell us about this place... So we had to go check it out!! The cafe is very cute, clean and there is ample seating! We went at 11am on a Friday morning so that might have played a role in that. We came in very hungry and got sat right away! The waiter was very knowledgeable and offered many different selection options. From this we chose the Lox Salmon Benedict. It says it comes with grilled onions, cooked salmon lox, benedict sauce and capers. It was one of the worst I've had in a while. The muffin was soggy because the benedict sauce was thin and runny. Not to mention flavorless! The hash browns on the side saved the meal for me. But! The side of sausage was cooked perfectly. Nice flavors , crispy edges and a nice warm center. Exactly what you're looking for in a breakfast sausage. The Vietnamese coffee blew me away! It was perfect, if not one of the best i've had in a while. I bet there are other things on the menu that are delicious and if I lived nearby I would try it again, I just did not like the food that was served to me this time. read more
Went for Breakfast Food - 5/5. Country fried steak was tender and meaty with a satisfying crunchy batter. Gravy had a thick consistency that created a dense, creamy texture which moistened the fried dish. Flavor was rich with plenty of black pepper that paired well with the steak. Hash browns had a nice crunch while maintaining the soft bite of potato. Eggs were soft and the rye bread was toasted well. Service - 4/5. Quick and friendly service. Value - 5/5. Breakfast items are reasonably priced being in the low to mid 10s for most items. Most breakfast platters come with choice of eggs, hash browns and toast making for hefty portion sizes. No frills breakfast place and they open early which we were happy to find out. When you check in on Yelp you get a single free donut which we got and shared. Coffee keeps coming and we were happily full afterwards. Jill's Scramble was hearty & the Mexican omelette was good too. read more

Great surprise!! Just stopped in for a quick breakfast, and so glad we did. I got strawberry and banana French toast--lots of deliciousness! Husband got an omelette with avocado, bacon and mushroom and it was even better than my French toast!! Fresh squeezed OJ to finish. I'm totally surprised we never knew about this place growing up in the Peninsula. We all had a day off from work plus my step son didn't have school so we decided to go out for breakfast. We tend to frequent Millbrae Pancake House, but that was a 2 hour wait. I went on Yelp to look for close by breakfast spots and this came up. Its located on Broadway Ave in Burlingame right off the freeway right after Wells Fargo located between all the other eateries and small shops. Still wondering how we never noticed it as much as we frequent the area, but then again, it's usually for dinner (it's also worth checking out Curry Hyuga, Shabu House, and Broadway Prime) Service very quick and friendly. Menu had a lot of breakfast options available. Small diner vives, but pexi glass between booths as well as covid precaution signage. We had the country fried steak, breakfast burrito, and rocky road pancakes. Pancakes are very fluffy. Burrito quite filling, but I wish the hashbrows were a little more crisp. The cfs was cooked nicely with no batter falling off. If you check on on yelp, you get a free regular donut! I almost didn't want to write this review because it's a real neighborhood gem that I don't want others to find out about. Definitely coming back again. read more
