I'm really indecisive and he was so patient with us but I loved that he would constantly check in :) My friend ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee which was the perfect amount of sweetness and I would totally recommend! I ordered a black coffee which was also really good! It wasn't bitter at all and it didn't require any sugar. For food, I ordered #3 the egg plate and replaced it with pancakes. We found this spot while looking for a mid-afternoon brunch with a classic diner feel, and we got exactly what we came for! We went here on Labor Day around 1 PM, and the restaurant was relatively empty. We were seated right away at a little table near the window. Our waiter was very friendly and made us feel like regulars from the start! I ordered a lox bagel and a side of bacon with coffee, while my partner ordered the grilled cheese and Thai iced tea. Everything we ordered hit the spot! The salmon tasted fresh, with delicious slabs of cream cheese adorning the toasted bagel. It also came with tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. The bacon had a nice crunchy texture, although I did find it somewhat plain tasting. My wife and I made our yearly trip to San Francisco for our anniversary, and we had bad food experience after bad food experience this time around, and after we found out our hotel was going to charge $35 for a very small breakfast buffet, we started looking for a new spot to eat. I was pretty impressed with my visit to Royal Donut Cafe. I didn't come for their donuts, but for their breakfast and they had some of the best country fried steak I've had a in a while. The interior is very dated so that might turn some people off, but they are expanding the restaurant and taking over the space next door. They said that there is a possibility that they open for dinner in the future too. Staff were very friendly as well. Parking in the area is certainly a pain in the area, but there are paid parking lots near by. Country Fried Steak & Eggs ($15.95) was what I ordered and it was massive. I was stuffed after eating it and the steak had the perfect breading. The sausage gravy was very tasty and the hash browns were also a large portion. The eggs they also cooked really well and they don't overcook them like I accidently do at home because I love runny eggs. While walking down Broadway a nice man who worked at the barber shop stopped to tell us about this place... So we had to go check it out!! The cafe is very cute, clean and there is ample seating! We went at 11am on a Friday morning so that might have played a role in that. We came in very hungry and got sat right away! It says it comes with grilled onions, cooked salmon lox, benedict sauce and capers. It was one of the worst I've had in a while. The muffin was soggy because the benedict sauce was thin and runny. The Royal Donut Cafe in Burlingame Village on Broadway is the quintessential hometown coffee shop. I have eaten breakfast there at least a half dozen times, and it always ranks solidly between four and five stars. Three months ago, the owners acquired the store front next door and doubled the size of Royal Donut's dining area. Even with the recent expansion, it has retained its local charm. Today's breakfast was excellent. I enjoyed the Broadway scramble. It features bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach plus jack and cheddar cheeses. Yum! The scramble was fluffy with perfectly cooked eggs. If you go and order breakfast, order the country potatoes instead of hash browns for your side dish. They are homemade and delicious. I'm totally surprised we never knew about this place growing up in the Peninsula. We all had a day off from work plus my step son didn't have school so we decided to go out for breakfast. Its located on Broadway Ave in Burlingame right off the freeway right after Wells Fargo located between all the other eateries and small shops. Still wondering how we never noticed it as much as we frequent the area, but then again, it's usually for dinner (it's also worth checking out Curry Hyuga, Shabu House, and Broadway Prime) Service very quick and friendly. Menu had a lot of breakfast options available. Small diner vives, but pexi glass between booths as well as covid precaution signage. We had the country fried steak, breakfast burrito, and rocky road pancakes. Pancakes are very fluffy. Burrito quite filling, but I wish the hashbrows were a little more crisp. The cfs was cooked nicely with no batter falling off. If you check on on yelp, you get a free regular donut!
