Horrible service. And more expensive than the other Royal China restaurants. Also a rip off. And bad service. Won't be returning.

I really, really liked Bo Lang's food. At first, I was worried about its pretentious atmosphere;…read moretheir decor is a little overly stylized chic and they had incense - who does that in a restaurant? - but their food certainly made up for any doubts I had. Prices are definitely a bit high for the portions. However, the food was really delicious, and it's hard to pick just one or two dishes that were the best. The pumpkin and mouli dumpling is unique and scrumptious for being a gourd. We also really liked the chicken and black truffle shui mai as well as sichuan style dumplings. For hot dishes, get the duck spring roll, black sesame prawn toast, and Singapore vermicelli with prawn and egg. (The people in the kitchen were speaking Chinese, so that's definitely a good sign, in my opinion!) Unfortunately, most of the dishes come with just three portions, so it's tough to share with 4 people, especially when all the dishes are so good. Oh, and how can I forget my Monkey Jump Over the Moon cocktail. It was definitely tropical and the largest volume - biggest bang for your buck when you're spending money on dim sum!

We also noticed that most of the guests that are eating here are very well dressed so, I must say that this place is considered somewhat, "high-end" or trendy. The food is also amazing and the price is reasonable enough.

Dim sum in London? Yes, absolutely! If you know where to go…read more.. Just like So Cal, the best Chinese restaurants in London are not located in Chinatown. Royal China is in the Hyde Park area, across from the northwest corner of the park (Princess Diana Memorial Playground). It is literally just steps away from two tube stations -- Queensway on the Central Line or Bayswater on the District or Circle Lines - so you can easily get there from almost anywhere in central London. The dim sum was legit and comparable to some of the top players in the San Gabriel Valley. I was particularly impressed by some of the dishes that are hard to find outside of Hong Kong. FRIED MINCED CUTTLEFISH BALLS: Even some of the best dim sum places in the SGV don't offer this or can't make it right. But this was perfectly 5 stars! The batter was light, and the minced cuttlefish filling had a good consistency and bounciness. The cuttlefish filling was mixed with some chopped water chestnuts which was the authentically correct Cantonese recipe. It was delicious and without even a hint of fishiness (GREAT!) PAPER WRAPPED PRAWNS WITH SESAME SEEDS: This is another bold and hard to find item. The wrapping tasted like bean curb wraps and it was deep fried. The prawn tasted fresh and again, without a hint of fishiness. A generous sprinkle of sesame seeds added the final touch to this delicious and creative dim sum plate. TURNIP CAKE: Pan-fried to a nice golden brown, these slices of turnip cakes were truly my cup of tea! Without the fishy dried shrimps that so many restaurants in the SGV tend to use, this dish was like a breadth of fresh air! Instead of dried shrimps, the cakes were mixed with small pieces of cured meat (Chinese sausage) that gave it a truly Cantonese flavor. The other dishes were good but not as impressive. SIU MAI was good and was comparable to those from an average SGV place. The black bean sauce of the PORK SPARERIBS was yummy but the dish was mostly bones with little meat. We also ordered a CHINESE SAUSAGE AND CHICKEN RICE which was topped with small pieces of thigh meat that were rather bland. The only flavor for the rice came from the Chinese sausage. Overall it was still a delightful and solid 4-star dim sum experience. I will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the streets of London.

The prices here are somewhat high for the dim sum, but you get elevated classics like siew mai…read more(shrimp and pork dumplings), lopatkou (fried radish cake), various tools with bean curd skin, chagio (Vietnamese fried spring rolls). Everything was so delicious, and there were several other dishes I would have loved to have tried. I wish I had taken pictures of more dishes, but they all looked so good that we all just dug right in! Our server highly recommended the shrimp bean curd dish, and I am so glad she did. That's not something I would've ordered on my own, but my husband & I agreed it was our favorite dish of the night. My daughter's favorite (and my 2nd favorite) was the wagyu beef puff. I also loved everything in the steamed dim sum platter. The only thing that was mildly disappointing was the softshell crab. Softshell crab is usually one of my favorites, but it was just sort of bland. But overall the food was amazing. I just wanted to keep trying more & more things, even though I was stuffed! And the service was incredible -- really could not have been better. As a wine nerd, I have to say I don't love their wine service. You can't order a full bottle, only 500 ml or less, which means you're never presented with the bottle, so (in theory) you're never really sure you're actually getting what you ordered or getting a bottle that wasn't opened days ago. That being said, I have no doubt that the wines we were served were correct and relatively freshly opened, but I still would've appreciated proper bottle service. (On the other hand, being forced to buy only 500 ml at a time meant we could try two wines instead of sticking with just one bottle.) The ambiance was lovely -- spacious, sleek, classy, modern, with gigantic aquariums. This restaurant will be at the top of my list to revisit next time I'm in London!

Really enjoyed dinner and drinks here for my girlfriend and me. Definitely recommend it.read more

Min Jiang was the last of these large dinners, and I booked it specifically for the Peking duck--a dish with a sense of occasion, and that almost everyone in my family enjoys. I also picked Min Jiang over a few other options because of its location, on the tenth floor of a small hotel, with a dining room overlooking Kensington. I emailed to make the reservation and this was easy enough, just had to agree to a minimum spend (£80 per adult) and share credit card details. The only thing I worried about was that the reservationist wouldn't guarantee a prime view. As it turned out, though, the restaurant was set up so every table seemed to have a view. Ours did, anyway. We dined with Kensington Park and a long stretch of London skyline laid out before us. The restaurant was nice in every other way, too. The dining room was neat and attractive, filled with Chinese ceramics and natural light, round tables laid out with white tablecloths and lazy susans. Service was polite, prompt, and helpful. I'd pre-ordered two Peking--or rather, Beijing--ducks, but we added a few appetizers and other dishes, probably a little more than wise or necessary. We also got a couple bottles of wine, red and white, to go with our feast. The food was outstanding. I don't understand the negative reviews here, like there are multiple people comparing Min Jiang to Panda Express. Are they okay? Right away, we were set up with a little snack on our lazy susan, some kind of spicy fermented chili sesame edamame situation, tasty beans that I ate like bar nuts. We ordered some dim sum to start, plus some noodles for the kids, and these were all great. Enjoyed both the steamed xiao long bao, soup dumplings with pork and blue swimmer crab, and the poached prawn dumplings in Sichuan chili oil. The stir-fried egg noodles with king prawns were solid, and worked well for the children when purged of vegetables (and, for that matter, king prawn). The wood-fired Beijing duck is Min Jiang's specialty, and it can be a pretty big meal all on its own. We got two whole ducks, which was more than enough for eight adults (actually, seven--my husband, who loves both duck and restaurants on high floors, felt sick and had to leave at the beginning of dinner; something went through our household on this trip, and we only managed one dinner with our full complement of eleven). The duck was carved at our table, the glorious lacquered skin laid out in neat rows on a giant platter. We ate the crispy duck skin with thin housemade pancakes and an array of condiments: plum sauce, shredded leek, cucumber, garlic paste, radish, and Tientsin cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Even my three-year-old got in on the duck-gobbling action. The rest of the duck meat was used for a second course, and we opted for the fried rice with diced duck and the fried noodles with sliced duck. Both satisfying dishes, if not nearly as memorable as the skin. I hadn't accounted for the duck fried rice and noodles (or the absence of my husband) when putting our order in at the beginning of our meal, and we ended up with too much food. We probably should have skipped the Min Jiang fried rice, but it was a good, fluffy fried rice, with king prawns and spicy salted fish sauce. I do not regret our other big order, though, the native lobster with Singapore-style chilli sauce. It was a lovely dish, soupy and flavorful, with sweet lobster and thin noodles. I also liked the steamed scallops with black bean chilli sauce. They were firm and bouncy, and that sauce would've been good on anything. We got some sautéed morning glory for our health, and this was a nice simple side with a punch of garlic. If you like roast duck and dinner with a view, Min Jiang is well worth a visit. I kind of want to go back with my husband next time we're in London. I know he'd love it, and I'd be happy to go again.

I only discovered this place when I tried to have lunch at Hung Tao across the road only to be told that they were only serving a limited menu and to go across the road to their new restaurant. That is interesting in that Hung Tao has the atmosphere of a locals' cheap diner whereas Dim Sum Diner is probably aiming at a slightly more upmarket clientele with fresh clean tiles and primary colours though they do have canteen style bench seating Despite its name, the restaurant was only displaying the conventional menu on on the window outside, listing dishes as "Hung Tao @ Dim Sum Diner". Not sure if they're hedging their bets on the new venture However, nice to see that dim sum was available inside, otherwise the name would have been a bit redundant! The usual dim sum favourites are available though with some of them being given a novel twist. For example, the roast pork puffs are in a cylindrical shape rather than the usual triangles. I think this place is trying hard but is struggling to find its identity at the moment. I sense it's caught between wanting to be a traditional Chinese restaurant and a trendy dim sum joint. The food has potential but they have to make their minds up. My first tip would be to put a dim sum menu up in the window if your restaurant is named the Dim Sum Diner

With its red walls and pop art on the walls, it's a hip, cheerful place where you can select from a range of good quality dim sum and small Asian dishes as well as a couple of diner favourites made in a dim sum style (i.e. mini!) The Guinness crab meat dumpling was really lovely a house specialty, and the barbecued pork puff rolls were as nice if not better than the usual pork puffs you get in most other dim sum places. There are other more traditional offerings too. And the small dishes from noodles to rice dishes are pretty good value. The pricing is easy all dishes are £3.80 except sides which are £2.50. You can get in and out of there spending around £10-15 and leave pretty satisfied. It still in it's soft opening phase but I'll be back! I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fun, casual meal with mates. Go, go, go!!

We walked in around 11:30 AM on a Thursday and it was pretty empty (as expected). We were seated and given menus almost immediately. They have a variety of options as well as set menus so it took a bit of time for me to figure out what I wanted. My husband got the spicy vegetable dumplings, Sichuan chili oil vegetable dumping, tofu and miso soup as well as the spicy seitan and vegetable dumpling. I had the spicy seitan and vegetable dumpling, prawn and chives dumpling, orange and chicken dumpling and the potato and edamame pancakes. All the dumpling orders came in 3 dumplings. So 1 order is perfect for a person especially if you want to try a few dumplings. I LOVED the potato and edamame pancake. It was crispy on the outside, soft in the inside and the ginger sauce that came with it was the perfect compliment. The prawn dumpling was excellent but I didn't really care for the chicken and orange dumpling. It was a very strange taste that was not really orange but not sure what it was. The seitan was good but not as chewy as seitan usually is. Because if that, it was very mushy. My husband enjoyed his dumplings a lot but for both of us, they were a little too soft which ended up a bit mushy. Overall, recommend the place and will be back next time in our trip!
