We were looking for something decent & came across this place so we decided to give it a try. Drinks we had Lemon grass & Lime Mojito both drinks were good nice taste, light on the alcohol. On the food we tried Crispy lemon chicken it was very good , comes w white rice.. the Dim sum also very good next the grilled beef Gyoza , these were good, nice taste when dipped in the sauce. Next smoke chili chicken wings they were good nice tasting sauce & the Ping pong chuckle noodles also very good. This like a lot of places I'd noticed they tend to take your order, charge u & then bring u the food which I guess works well. This place has more of a cafeteria feel a casual & laid back place. Service was good, decent prices we enjoyed our meal. Review #1800

Posh, Asian, and pretty darn authentic, if I know my Asian food. The interior is swanky enough, but my favorite section is the enclosed patio next to the indoor dining area, which comes complete with decorative hanging flowers, heaters, and blankets to get cozy during those cold Winter months. A quick perusal of the menu shows that the prices aren't bad; unless you're really hungry, in which case, they will add up fast. The menu features all things Dim Sum, as well as other semi-authentic Chinese dishes, teas, and yes, signature cocktails. The ordering system they have is also reminiscent of some Chinatown restaurants I've been in; you get a checklist of all the menu items, and you tick off everything that you want. It's not that easy for a first-timer, but the staff is friendly enough to help you locate your preferred items. Much as I like Dim Sum, I was feeling neither the portions nor the prices, so I went with the Honeyed Chili Chicken on a bed of Jasmine rice and veggie Spring Rolls with a spicy mango dipping sauce. Sounds amazing, right? It kind of was. The chicken didn't look all that appetizing to me, but the food definitely packed on the flavor, thanks to all those spices. I also ordered one of their Jasmine & Lily Flowering Teas, but truth be told- affordable though it was- it was so tasteless, I wouldn't order it again. But then, maybe I'm just not a tea person. A quick FYI for those of you with allergies out there: While they do try to accommodate everyone and keep their kitchens allergen-free, they do use the same stuff to make all the food, so if you're allergic to anything, it's probably best if you don't eat here. Their words, not mine.

I LOVE the sumday sunday AYCE dim sum. you can choose from a lot of option on the menu, not all of it but good amount. the dim sum isnt the most authentic but it tastes great. We thought about it all the time when we went back to New York and always go back whenever we visit.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Washington DC, and I was absolutely crushed when they closed. To my surprise, as I was on my way to take a ride on the Coca-Cola London Eye, I saw it... a Ping Pong restaurant in the distance. What?! I couldn't wait to come in for dinner. When I finally arrived, I was thrilled to find out that the restaurant had a daily Happy Hour special, featuring some of their most popular dumplings and cocktails at half price. I ordered the Golden Dumpling, the chicken and cashew nut buns, the prawn and chive dumplings, the prawn and scallop sticky rice, and the duck spring rolls. I cannot tell you how long I have been craving the prawn and scallop sticky rice. I've been searching for at other Asian restaurants in various cities and haven't been able to find it anywhere. It was just as good as I remembered, and I ordered an extra order to go so that I could make the memory last just a little while longer. The Golden Dumplings were fantastic! Actually... everything I ordered was fantastic! I really forgot how great this food was, and it was a bittersweet dining experience that I chose to savor for as long as I could. I also ordered the Lychee Rose cocktail which had a nice flavour, but no bite. The Hong Kong colada was much better. Despite all of this delicious food and drink, I had to drop the rating a star because of the service. The service was so slow and inconsistent. At one point, I think our server clocked out without transferring responsibility of our table to another of her colleagues. We noticed several tables around us, which she had also been serving, had also been neglected. It was very difficult to flag down another server, since there were so few of them, and every time they walked by, they had large trays full of food. One server took pity on us and try to clean up with her colleague had left behind, but by this point, we were ready to call it an evening. The other issue I have with this restaurant is the noise. I think the restaurant is two levels, and if you were sitting on the ground floor, you would swear that a parade of elephants was passing by overhead. There was so much thumping and bumping coming from the top floor that it was very difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. As much as I missed the food, I was very happy when it was time to leave.

I enjoyed our visit to Ping Pong and would definitely stop back for some dim sum! I'm kind of curious why they chose the name Ping Pong, but I won't lose any sleep over it! Just remember this: Dim sum is not an arithmetic calculation gone wrong, its the name of steamed, bite-sized, Chinese dishes with a variety of selection to please any palate. The pre-selected order had a nice variety, but the server also recommended the beef and kimchi dumplings. This was by far my favorite dish of the evening! The perfectly seared dumplings might as well have been little fireworks exploding with flavors in my mouth. There was the right amount of spice, heat, and flavor to make my tastebuds smile like the Cheshire Cat. I fell in love with the decor, but I'm a sucker for koi. If I lived in London I'm sure you'd find me here regularly... I can't wait to come back.

One of the worst meals ever. Located near Royal Festival Hall, this is a very happening spot. Dim sum and swanky modern decor, the wait was long and the food looked good. We had high expectations and the anticipation was exciting. Our server was not very friendly and seemed shocked we did not want anything but tap water. The ordering process is like a sushi bar where you mark your own list of dim sum. We picked items and tried to flag our server down. She comes back, took our order sheet, then a while later says they are out of a ton of stuff, crossing out several of our order list and other items....okay thanks. We decided to stick with the remaining first and ended up adding one item (shrimp toast). The food took forever to come out and when it did, it looked pretty good but tasted terrible. Sometimes the temperature was off (our first dish was the honey chicken on rice and it was partially hot and partially cold). As my mom put it, the food got worse with each dish. The duck spring rolls were mushy and bland, the beef lettuce wraps (a special) were just boring plain shredded beef with no flavor, and it was just so disappointing. Unfortunately, it was pricey too, and we left spending way more than we should have for a meal that was barely edible. Don't be fooled by the crowds and go somewhere else!

Service is as awful as the Spare Ribs. Nasty greasy spare ribs, would have sent them back but the service was so inattentive & indifferent it was impossible. We had hoped to sit on the terrace tables, but at 9.30pm we were told this was impossible. Coke Zero bottles were actually warm to the touch which meant the 3 ice cubes melted immediately in each glass (£5.50 for two!) We then waited and waited for the waitress to take the food order and resorted to taking the order card to the kitchen counter ourselves! We actually wanted to order cocktails but the drinks menu was swiftly whisked away before we got the chance. As this is a Dim Sum restaurant we ordered about 6 dumpling dishes & then tried to re-order the ones we really liked. This met with very little success as our server was preoccupied with seating new tables, or chatting to colleagues. The only way we got her attention was when we got up to leave & she suddenly realised she hadn't given us a bill. We paid at the greet station by the door, they knocked off the service charge which I was not prepared to pay anyway. Ping Pong has really deteriorated. Intrusive Loud Music completed the insult . Such a shame as it was a convenient location near Waterloo. Plenty of competition so I can't understand how it's so bad. Plum Valley in Soho does this so much better, see Jamie's Italian for chains who lose their USP.

Ping Pong is confused. I don't think this restaurant knows what it wants to be. The servers lacked knowledge and made more than a few mistakes during our time dining with them. We both the Ping Pong sampler dish, which got us three dishes: a rice/meat bowl, a fried component, and a steamed component. We were told to order more because the portions were small and we wouldn't be filled. Because they said this, I ordered a fried spicy chicken addition. It was more than enough. We were both very hungry and ended up being full and ordered too much food. The ambience doesn't match the look of the store. The music was light house music and it felt like someone was going to ask me to try to drop acid or something. It was odd and the worst dining experience of my London trip.

    Mushroom Parcels

My first time at a Ping Pong. We had to wait a bit to get a seat so we sat at the bar and waited for a long while to get served- you may need to accost a waiter to get a drink, they seem a little "toff" biased. However, we chose 3 dishes between the two of us, from a VEGAN menu- yes folks, I was really impressed that they had a seperate menu, awesome huh? That's pretty much why I rated high, because I found the food to be really tasty, especially the vegetable-y rice packaged in leaves, and the mushroom parcels. Although, the 3 dishes between us and 3 drinks came to nearly £30, I went home and devoured a sandwich. For a solo meal, perhaps 2 dishes would be ideal as you get 3 bits of each so you can share. Anyway, great food, slightly squished seating, the toilets were clean and smelled LOVELY (a bit like bubblegum), and the service was fairly slow getting the order and paying but not sniffy, just busy although the food arrived nice and quickly! The flower teas are beautiful, and if you live in East london near Shoreditch, They even deliver- lucky!

Ping Pong has always looked so stylish from the outside so I was excited to go in and try the food. Ordering can be a bit tricky, as you are called to fill out a form with all the items on the menu. We were four people and 3 of us went for the set menu so when the items started arriving it took a while for us to figure out which one belonged to what menu and explain to the waitress she would have to tell us what was what. The food itself was very satisfying, I particularly enjoyed the fried selection but the dumplings and vegetables were quite nice too. The black tea was a bit bitter but full of flavour so I enjoyed that without needing to add any sugar. I felt quite full after that meal but the guys in the group (the other two set menus) did mention they could still eat more so you may want to keep that in mind and order a couple more dishes. I'd say ordering lots of things and sharing would be the best option. In general it was a lovely place for a midweek lunch with my team and I hope we go back again.

There are not many places in town where you can write directly on the tabletops of a restaurant. Ping Pong does not make exception to this rule. It does, however, defy another semi-truism about London: It is not always easy to find a delicious meal in a good restaurant for reasonable price. My family and I ate lunch here. We were sat at a tale with some other guests - a move I always find cozy and quite conducive to friendly feeling meal. (Conducive that is unless you are sat next to the Adams Family or Stalin.) The decor was a zen sand garden, rocks of tables place gracefully among carefully raked sand. My family and I ordered a variety of dishes as one often does in dim sum. Some steamed dumplings with prawn, some veggies with spice wrapped in something quite nice made of rice), soup, steamed rice, and more. All items (soup excluded) came in sets of three like the Triplets of Belleville. We were more content than a hoard of otters playing in the water. Everything made our stomachs cry out with joyous choruses of "hallelujah!". Our soprano, mezzo soprano, alto and baritone converged into a chorus golden as Orpheus strumming his lyre. The bill came to about 7 or 8 per person. We didn't eat heavy, but we ate enough, and walked out light on our feet. The only deceiving aspect was that no paddles and ping pong balls were provided as a diversion. Guess I'll have to bring my own next time. Think they'll mind if I run around the restaurant smacking a small white off the wall?

The food~~ must try the duck spring rolls & the beef & spinach dumplings

I always say...when going to an asian resturant..look around you and see if its either full of asians or non-asians as it is a good indication of how authentic it is... me and my friend were the only 2 asians there lol. Honestly the food was not that great...it wasnt bad though~~ but I love my dimsum and was expecting to eat turnip paste cakes (aka carrot cake) which was not on the menu. Its definately a westernized concept. Which is fine for those looking for that. The duck spring rolls were nice, the beef & spinach dumplings too, but disappointed in the pork bun... disappointed in the fried asparagus little dinky dried up strings came out. Disappointed in the bak choy (the cut off the leafy portion for presentation im assuming? Didnt appreciate just the white part of the vegetable... The cocktails looked amazing though~~ didnt have one but presentation was nice~ sat by the bar~ What I liked: 1. Staff was really friendly 2. Ambiance was great, nice place, lots of people 3. Good location right next to waterloo station by the weekend market stalls

Dim sum in London? Yes, absolutely! If you know where to go…read more.. Just like So Cal, the best Chinese restaurants in London are not located in Chinatown. Royal China is in the Hyde Park area, across from the northwest corner of the park (Princess Diana Memorial Playground). It is literally just steps away from two tube stations -- Queensway on the Central Line or Bayswater on the District or Circle Lines - so you can easily get there from almost anywhere in central London. The dim sum was legit and comparable to some of the top players in the San Gabriel Valley. I was particularly impressed by some of the dishes that are hard to find outside of Hong Kong. FRIED MINCED CUTTLEFISH BALLS: Even some of the best dim sum places in the SGV don't offer this or can't make it right. But this was perfectly 5 stars! The batter was light, and the minced cuttlefish filling had a good consistency and bounciness. The cuttlefish filling was mixed with some chopped water chestnuts which was the authentically correct Cantonese recipe. It was delicious and without even a hint of fishiness (GREAT!) PAPER WRAPPED PRAWNS WITH SESAME SEEDS: This is another bold and hard to find item. The wrapping tasted like bean curb wraps and it was deep fried. The prawn tasted fresh and again, without a hint of fishiness. A generous sprinkle of sesame seeds added the final touch to this delicious and creative dim sum plate. TURNIP CAKE: Pan-fried to a nice golden brown, these slices of turnip cakes were truly my cup of tea! Without the fishy dried shrimps that so many restaurants in the SGV tend to use, this dish was like a breadth of fresh air! Instead of dried shrimps, the cakes were mixed with small pieces of cured meat (Chinese sausage) that gave it a truly Cantonese flavor. The other dishes were good but not as impressive. SIU MAI was good and was comparable to those from an average SGV place. The black bean sauce of the PORK SPARERIBS was yummy but the dish was mostly bones with little meat. We also ordered a CHINESE SAUSAGE AND CHICKEN RICE which was topped with small pieces of thigh meat that were rather bland. The only flavor for the rice came from the Chinese sausage. Overall it was still a delightful and solid 4-star dim sum experience. I will definitely be back the next time I find myself in the streets of London.

Sundays only from some time in the morning until 5pm when the market shuts down. What you will find is a little taste of Asia in the best possible way. Hand-stretched flour noodles (la-mian) made right there before your very eyes, boiled, then served in the broth and meat accompaniments of your choosing. I had one with minced pork and 'special sauce' (who doesn't like special sauce?) and it was really good. The noodles were (obviously) really fresh, the broth was decent, and the pork bits salty and flavourful. AND all for about £5 a bowl. They also have chicken, roast pork, chilli tripe, and all kinds of available versions in addtion to some wok-fried items and really tasty dim sum. The only dim sum I tried was char siew bao, and it was legit (£1.50 for two). Plus they have a plastic table-clothed table for a few people (can maybe fit about 8 or so people) and some cheap plastic stools to sit on, so it is one of the few places along the brick lane market where you can actually sit down to eat. So authentic in its practicality and function that it makes me smile. This is also a great stall because you can stare at the guy making noodles, which is a fun show in itself. He's got skills.

** IMPORTANT NOTE: I think these guys go on holidays for 3-4 months at the beginning of the year,…read moreso don't freak out like I did when I kept visiting Brick Lane every Sunday hoping to catch them! Hopefully they'll be back soon :( ** I've been extremely picky about Chinese food since arriving in London, but luckily, this little La Mian stall under the bridge at Brick Lane has got it right! Fresh hand pulled noodles (la mian), swimming in a bowl of broth with your choice of roast duck, chicken, minced pork, and a few other variations. They also serve up other small dim sum items, such as pork buns, shrimp dumplings (har gow), pork dumplings (shiu mai), spring rolls, etc. I've tried their roast chicken leg, which is very good. The broth that they use is a mixture of soy, chicken (possibly beef) bouillon stock powder, plus a few other things. I think the broth could be better, but for the quantity I get, and by London standards - there's not much else to complain about! I've also had their tan tan noodles, which came with 5 or 6 pork shu mai. The shu mai was alright, I don't think they make this, and it was in a spicy peanutty soup. I've had proper tan tan noodles before, and this kind of missed the mark. Tasty in general, yes.. but doesn't really resonate a true bowl of tan tan noodles. i think I'm just gonna stick with normal noodles in a basic broth + meat! As for seating, there's a little table with a few small stools, but good luck getting a seat unless you're on your own! There's also a huge jar of chili oil on the table too, so don't forget to drizzle some over your noodles before taking off. The cost is very reasonable, especially for the quantity that you get. I think it runs you anywhere from £5.50-£7 per bowl, and even though they don't look THAT big - don't let it deceive you, as you will literally have to roll away. In Chinatown, a crappy bowl of noodles will cost you about £6, plus their "discretionary" (translation: mandatory) service charge. However, be prepared to wait for your food! Its awesome watching the noodle man do his thang, but with everyone standing around watching, its hard to figure out where to queue, and if people are even waiting in the queue. I believe this is a 2-man show, and while I get that they are popular and I'm sure they're popping out as many orders as they can - we waited 45 minutes for 4 bowls of noodles, which is a bit ridiculous. I think if they had a 3rd person in there, it would really speed things up. In any case though, if you have a lazy Sunday, get in line :)
