very good food and lots of options! dinner pricing starts a bit too early but for their lunch hours it's a great deal.

Nevermind the petty reviews: this is a solid 4 STAR buffet. -Clean restaurant. -Variety of tasty food. -professional staff. -Good prices. I would definitely be a repeat customer if I lived in the area. read more

Food, service and ambiance are fine. I love a good buffet and this one has a decent selection of food. I appreciate being able to get my own beverage instead of having to wait for the servers to come around, especially since they're busy trying to clear tables. read more

I worked in Akron for years and used to eat there at least once a week and it was great. Today 08/26/2026 I went there for lunch and the place smelled like strong chemicals, (meth lab). We were seated next to the trash can by server station and there were only four other people in the whole place Most of the steam tables were not working and food temperature was in danger zone to cold. The refrigeration table with fruit and pudding etc. was warmer and were also not working. There has been zero maintenance done for over the last five years, wall paper ripped off walls and bathroom door broken and nothing cleaned. Filth everywhere and I can not understand how they can be still be open. Different owners and the woman / hostess up front running the place just screams directions out to staff. The staff just standing around on cell phones and not cleaning, it was a complete nightmare right out of "Kitchen Nightmares" Cold food included pork dumplings rice noodles, lo mien, shrimp and the worst was the Char Siu was room tempature. My score would have been lower if it could. I miss what that place once was now they will be lucky if they don't kill someone with food poison. read more

I always stop at the buffet to get food to go. Today I witness the cashier arguing back and forth with a customer over charging her children adult prices, it was obvious that the children were eight or nine. The argument escalated, I offer to pay for the food, another gentleman offered to pay for the food. The customer declined, saying she was going to take care of it, they continue to argue. All the staff came out and stood and looked. I was so embarrassed for her. I don't know why they just didn't let the kids eat kids prices, it is buffet food and they're just going to throw it away. The argument was unnecessary. I am a person of color, and have been told to boycott Asian places but I refuse to do that. But, after witnessing today, I can see why blacks have called a boycott read more

Ignore all these ignorant and rude reviews. My boyfriend and I had dinner here today for Valentine's Day and it was wonderful! The food was infact hot and seasoned perfectly. There's also a super cool wall of sushi that you can just help yourself to! All the staff were lovely and they even gave us a cute gift before leaving! 10/10 would recommend read more

The service was okay. Most of the food was bland and some wasn't even warm. The only good thing was just the ice cream and the potatoes. Also, when I tried the drinks, it had a bitter taste at first where I couldn't even taste the flavor of the drink. read more

Ain't nothing Royal at the Royal buffet. No hot water in restroom. Food tasted old and lack luster. Crab at hibachi station looked like leggo pieces. Best thing in there was the potatoes and they were trash worthy. read more

Worst buffet I've ever been to. Cold food at 12:30PM. 50% of the buffet was at best room temperature. I complained Good hot and sour soup Complained when paying and she was talking jibberish. I told her the food was cold. She pretends it to understand. I call bullsht read more

No variety. The service was slow. The hibachi tasted bland. The restaurant is nice looking in the inside but not on the outside. I would rate this only 1 star. The food was cold. I would never recommend anybody to go here. read more

Food was cold! We left & did not pay as we do not eat cold food. Literally ALL THE FOOD was cold

So delicious! There is a big jump in price from lunch to dinner.. the switch happens around 3pm.. I wish it was closer to 5pm to get the lunch price vs the dinner price. With that said, the food was very hot, fresh, and the buffet was completely full with a variety of options! They had great crab ragoons, all the traditional Chinese soups, and one of my personal favorites is Coconut shrimp (snow white shrimp) They had a lot of seafood too.. prong, crawfish, lobster, ect I do wish they had a few more chicken options.. such as orange chicken, Kung po chicken, and perhaps coconut chicken (snow white chicken) Also, they did have sushi.. but I didn't see any deep fried sushi. I wish that they had more cooked sushi and deep fried sushi. The service was average, and the atmosphere was average. The played traditional Chinese music.. I plan to be back-but definitely going to try to come during the lunch time to get a more affordable price. read more

This used to be our go to Chinese takeout joint. I took my children tonight for takeout and what used to cost us about $26 is now $57! If you want your money's worth, go elsewhere. The food is really greasy now. I always loved their green beans but now they have no flavor. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful after a recent remodel but the customers are paying the price with high costs and low quality food. read more

Royal Buffet has renovated their fabulous restaurant, under new management. This Chinese Buffet is the BEST, serving the most delicious Chinese cuisine, included is an awesome Hibachi grill, sushi bar, nice selection of seafood, beef, chicken and vegetable dishes; great dessert bar with variety of fresh fruit including several delicious hot soups. As we all know, half of the pleasure of dining out is hospitality and Royal Buffet is not lacking in this department! #SatisfiedCustomer read more

The food was not anything to write home about, and I likely have salmonella and food poisoning because of it. The environment was somewhat chaotic, and the service could have been better. To top it all off, when I went to try their ice cream, they scoop was just laying in a tub of dirty water. Would never go here again and wouldn't recommend read more

We stopped in for dinner a week ago. We missed eating at our favorite spot since covid. We havn't been going anywhere and we decided to stop here for dinner. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not. A few days later we began to experience symptoms. We went to CVS for a covid test. Our family tested positive after visiting the Royal Buffet. It's so scary! We all wore a mask but once were seated we remove our mask to eat. We are now quarantining. I think we are going to avoid eating at restaurants for the moment. The staff are great and they all wear mask but when you remove your mask to eat it leaves you vulnerable to contract covid. The ventilation there is a circled circulation we can't be surprised to contract the virus . Be extremely careful! Please get the vaccinated! read more

Great sushi choices large variety and decent pricing. Lots of seating. Service could be a little better but it comes from language barriers. Miscommunication was resolved. Will be returning read more

They claim to give discounts for kids. Yet, when I took my 12 year old there for dinner, we were charged full price. The website showed they have crab legs. No crab legs when we went. They act like they don't speak any English. Pretty sure the woman who cashed me out called me a bad name as I was leaving. The food wasn't that good, either. read more

If you're looking for a large, well stocked, and clean buffet - don't let the sketchy parking lot dissuade you. I'll admit, when we pulled up to the restaurant I had very low expectations. However, the inside is large and well maintained. They even have decent sushi options, and I think their soups are above "buffet quality." The food won't blow you away, but it is everything you would want from a Chinese buffet. read more

Possibly the worst buffet I've been to yet. Never known a place that charges for water and refills but also doesn't give you a choice on if you want refills or not. The food tasted old and dry and flavorless in some aspects. I was overall disappointed with my entire experience here. Would not try again. Would go back if I could and just not go at all. read more

This place was terrible me and my friends and family were here and it was four of us and it was $72. the server was looking at us like she has never seen a African-Americans before. she was creeping us out and almost made us leave. and can you believe that there are no free refills.then after we left, we called to tell them a few things and she threatened to call the police on us. read more

If I could give zero reviews I would! Went there for dinner. Ate 2 pieces of sushi then went to get our hot food. My husband and I both bit into cold food that was nasty. We told the lady we were leaving and she told us we had to pay $30.00 or they would call the cops. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never eat here again! read more

Unless you look close, you're liable to miss this place, across Buchholzer from the defunct Chapel Hill Mall. Inside, very nice decor, helpful servers, decent prices (under $36, lunch for 3). I skipped the sushi & hibachi today - maybe next time. When i saw the green-lip mussels, was VERY happy. Have not seen them much around here, and i dearly love them - in black bean sauce, or any other way. Seafood salad was very nice also, ditto the mushroom dishes. Doesn't hurt that it's only about 2 miles from my house. Will definitely be going back! read more

It was awful. And that's being kind. Some selections were dry and bland. Others were mushy. The deep-fried entrees were overcooked and greasy. Dinner for three with beverages was $62.10. They likely did add refills to the bill. We hope to never go back to that god-forsaken place again. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. This place was gross... like it was sitting out for awhile. The eggs were raw? Nothing tasted or looked fresh honestly. My whole family was disappointed in going here. It was nothing to recommend. read more

Believe the bad reviews they are true. My husband loves Chinese buffets so when he sees one we have to go. He voluntarily left hungry if that tells you anything. The restaurant was largely empty at 6:30 pm which is a sign. There were four people standing at the counter and it still took a few minutes for them to acknowledge our presence and seat us. We were never greeted all they said was, "follow me." The buffet itself was on the smaller size. A station for salad, fried foods, entrees, seafood (for extra $$) hibachi and dessert. The egg rolls tasted mostly of the vegetable oil, there was not much filling. I tried the sesame chicken but it was like little rocks, my knife couldn't cut them. I didn't mind the pepper steak but it was heavily seasoned and had a weird after taste. I didn't try anything else my stomach already hurt. My husband said the egg drop soup was fresh and decent but that was it. It just wasnt good. Won't be back. Spent the rest of the night in the bathroom because of the visit. Yuck! read more
