I had Philly but really wanted to try the Reuben so maybe I'll be back for that. The owner is very personable and attentive and creative. Her favorite is the quesadilla.

When we find places that we are interested in and our lists match, it's a place to go to. This place has gotten a lot of publicity for a good reason. It's good. Burgers are a pretty simple item to cook but for some reason some places do it better than others. This is one of those places. We really enjoyed our food! I would only recommend going to fresh cut fries, I understand the reason its tough, as it adds another level of work for a small spot that the owners work everyday from open to close already to add one more task but it maybe worth it since the burgers are so good to match it with something great too. Service is what you expect from a burger joint order at the register and they bring it to you when it's ready, which is pretty quick. Happy with how it went especially given the busy lunch crowd. As far as places to sit and the inside of the place, just keep in mind its a burger joint and a busy one at that, so get a seat when you can and enjoy the fresh food. It's got plenty of room for most but be aware a big group is gonna be a challenge. Overall, excellent place with great food and hard working folks making a living, I love places like this! Give it a shot you will be pretty impressed!

Alright, let's talk about it…read more I stopped by The Taco Joint in Addison and ordered two breakfast tacos: Sausage, Egg, Potato & Cheese and Spicy Fried Chicken & Egg spicy fried chicken, scrambled eggs, and cheese. Let me start with this: the place is clean, the vibe is casual, and the server was nice. No complaints there. It's an easy, grab-a-taco-and-go kind of spot. Now... the food. The sausage, egg, potato & cheese taco was well made. Structurally sound. Good tortilla. Nothing falling apart. But flavor-wise? It just didn't hit. The eggs weren't seasoned, and for me, eggs without seasoning are just... there. If I'm eating breakfast tacos, I need them to wake me up a little. This one stayed asleep. The Spicy Fried Chicken & Egg taco was the better of the two. The chicken brought the flavor the eggs didn't. It had some personality. If I had to order again, that's the direction I'd go. Would I go back? I'm on the fence. There are a lot of other things on the menu, and if I'm in the area again--or if there's another location nearby--I might give it another shot. Sometimes you just order the wrong thing the first time. It happens. Bottom line: It's clean. Service is solid. Tacos are well made. But for me? Flavor is king, and the eggs missed the mark. Go check it out for yourself. Your taste buds might fall in love where mine just shrugged.

However, I sometimes have to be in north Dallas for business, and this one on Forest is close enough to justify the side trip. I can still say that Mike's has the best damn chicken in DFW. I agree that the sides can be a little underwhelming, and nowadays I usually just grab a couple spicy breasts (yea baby) and sometimes an order of fries (nothing fancy, still good) and forget the plates. But honestly, this is one of those places that you come for the main attraction and if you're counting anything else, well, that's just not right. Yes, you can wait 15 minutes or more when you order at the counter. I've finally come to the point where when my work is done, I borrow someone's computer and order it online, and it's usually ready by the time I get there. This is the way to do it. It's so hot when I pick it up, by the time I get back to my main hub 20-30 minutes later, it's the perfect temp to eat. Don't listen to any Elite types who bad mouth any of the locations. I've never had anything but perfect chicken here. Try it for yourself.

I kept wondering who Mike was, so I looked it up--turns out Mike's Chicken is Vietnamese-owned, which somehow made me trust the operation even more. Fair warning: when you go, be ready to wait about 20 minutes--or order ahead like someone who values their time. They cook everything to order. I was like, what? In this fast-food age of heat lamps and broken dreams? But the wait is worth it. The chicken comes out fresh and hot as fuck. Crispy, juicy, and clearly made by people who respect the craft. This isn't grab-and-go chicken. This is sit down, shut up, and appreciate chicken.

I assume Apple Maps has taken me to the wrong place so I go to Google maps and type in smackbird. It routes me to a place in Carrollton about 15 min away. The friend I was meeting with pulls up to cowboy chicken as well and decides to walk inside. She said it's like a ghost kitchen which you have to order online to get the food. Very confusing for customers like me who I turned back around. I don't think it took more than 30 min to get the food after ordering. The inside is a spaced out seating along the walls of the restaurant. Small intimate setting, casual. Good enough for my friend and I to catch up. However, despite the misunderstandings, food was yummy. I liked the fries. I got the big bird sandwich. Double the chicken patties. I got the 3rd level which is not the highest but probably the good smack. It was a good starting level for me. I could try the highest spice level next time if I'm ever going out this far again. I ordered jalapeño ketchup but either they gave me regular ketchup or there was no difference at all. Overall worth a try. I paid about $13 for the meal which isn't so bad when trying to be on a budget.

There were quite a few orders and various people coming in for pickup of both Cowboy Chicken and many, many Smackbird orders. Took roughly about 20 minutes but it was worth the wait because it was one of the tastiest hot chicken sandwich I've had to date! It was beautifully seasoned, nicely crisped and juicy! The flavor was there and not just overpoweringly chili powder or buffalo sauce. Savory!! -- I'm reliving it and craving another one just thinking about it. Will go back again and highly recommend this gem!
