Drink prices are great but the DJ SUCKS. Seriously guys, y'all need to hire someone else. I was here tonight & there were 6 different times where songs played & no more than 5 people were on the dance floor (there were over 100 people in the bar). This review is not based on the bar, I actually frequent this bar very often however, there has been a change to the DJs recently. Multiples times that I have been there the DJ, John or johnnie, is more worried about making out with his girlfriend in the dj booth than to play good music. The photos shown are at 10:30 on a friday night during labor day weekend. He was playing slow sad country music and had nobody on the floor. We looked up to the DJ booth and he was sitting in the booth making out with a girl, which happens to be the manager. He is rude and doesn't care about if the music is good or not just cares about getting drunk in the DJ booth and what girl is standing next to him. Walking up to the bar with him as the DJ it sounds like we're walking into a sad heartbreak club. Nobody wants to go to a dance hall and listen to music that wants to make you cry. On top of that the sad songs were all waltz songs which a few waltz's are fine but when it's 7/8 in a row it gets redundant. After we sat there for an hour we decided to go request songs so we could dance a little. We paid for four songs and sent him money through cash app and gave him cash to play the songs. While we were standing there he took a request from an employee and their girlfriend and played their song immediately, they did not pay him to offer any money to play the songs. An hour later he hadn't played one of our songs so we went back to ask why he hadn't. His words were "he can't just cater to us" which we are regulars of the bar who come and spend hundreds of dollars every weekend at this bar. As someone who works in customer service, this DJ is not it. That being said, we have never had an issue with Cid as the DJ. He always has taken our requests and plays a good mix of all types of songs. Will think twice about coming to, sending friends, or customers to this bar if Johnnie is the DJ. Thought this was a country dance hall... isn't the first time either we frequent this bar regularly, just about every weekend for the last 6 months the music has been such a disappointment. The night we went it was packed. I am still going to give Rowdy's 4 stars, but it was packed to the walls. There was a headliner there and the locals flocked. Parking can be challenging, but again that really goes with the thing. The people working there were professional, maybe understaffed. But we had a nice time. Nice dance floor. read more

Went to Rowdy's for the first time Saturday night. We paid $5 each to get in. When we approached the bar we were completely ignored. Finally I said "excuse me, can we order drinks here?" The bartender literally yelled at me saying "I CANNOT HELP YOU I AM TOO BUSY!" He had the most pissed off look on his face. I couldn't believe it. This place has serious management and staffing issues. I will NEVER return here. read more

Worst experience, definitely not like Big Texas used to be. The security is horrible, a friend of mine got hit in the face by a drunk guy who threw his baseball cap at her. She told one of the bouncers who stated "they would get rid of him". All they did was talk to him and allowed the man to stay, until multiple other woman started complaining that the male was being aggressive towards them as well then he was finally escorted out. On top of that, I was way over charged on my card (signed for $59, and was charged $177) because the bartenders mistakenly added more than a few drinks/shots to my tab that I did not order because someone had the same last name as I do (how they keep track of what you ordered at the bar). Contacted the number and spoke with a man who stated he would look into it and get back with me. Long story short they admitted the wrong doing on the charge but i still have yet to see any money put back to my account and the correct amount charged, totally over two weeks since this happened. This bar is NOT following COVID guidelines. They have huge crowds in the weekends despite the pandemic. Nobody wears a mask or practices social distancing. Furthermore, a lot of their customers trash the parking lot outside as well. The bar rarely even cleans up the parking lot either. I know because I live in the apartments behind this bar. read more

Very disappointed with last night's music. When you go to a country honky tonk you expect to have more two-step dances than hip hop. Got there at 8:30 with my husband, meeting friends there. Stayed until midnight. I am not sure the DJ knows the difference between a polka and a 2step, because only about 3 true 2steps. Only 2-3 waltzes. Played more west coast swing for the 1 couple dancing it. Polka-polka-polka-polka-waltz-hip hip-hip hop- line dance-polka-polka-2 step-polka-polk-polka-hip hop-hip hop- polka-polka-polka-hip hop. As someone not from the Baybrook area and is used to the Downtown Houston/Midtown/Richmond night life, it wasn't a bad experience. But with that said, it wasn't a standout experience either. It has a lot of the usual suspects such as multiple bar tops, a pool table, a dance floor & a patio area. It sits in shopping center but wasn't hard to find. I would be careful when going here and paying cash for your drinks had a male bartender I paid him with a $100 dollar bill for $12 worth of drinks was only my second time to go up to the bar to buy drinks and called him out on it and he try to get loud he pulled his drawer out and counted the money in front of me and I told him it was a $100 what you did with it i dont know. So after that exchange went and reported ot to managment so they could review the camera"s and pulled him to the office and after 20 minutes finally came out and try to show me a small clip of exchange and told me it was a $20 but then at the same time stated the video was blurry and could not determine what the bill was. Our dance group met there for 4 weeks on Thursdays and on the 4th week when we showed up they said we could only dance for one hour then had to leave and not to come back. There were around 80 of us and some people didn't get there till 7:45 and paid $5 entry. Great place for live music!!! We went to a show this past weekend, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Management was very helpful and friendly, bartenders were fast and reasonable prices, restrooms very clean, crowd was 'rowdy' yet completely in control, and the quality of the acoustics in the room were perfect. These guys saw a need to fill in the old Big Texas Saloon space and they filled it! Worked hard to get it ready and finally opened the doors Wednesday. My friends and I were there Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (told you there's a need!) The only reason I did not give it a five is they still need to get the growing pains over with. The music was good as far as good songs but not always as far as danceability. There was not enough of a mix (too many polkas, not enough two step and west coast) The drink prices /specials are reasonable except for the wine. We go to a lot of dance halls and never have I ever paid $6 for a class of wine. (The highest was $4.) makes no sense. All in all I'm thrilled they have set up shop there and are settling in; hope they'll be there for a long long time. read more
