This was my 2nd time getting pierced at Rowan, but 1st time at this location. I had booked the appointment online (not required). Staff was very helpful and friendly in helping me select placement of the piercing. I actually went in with one idea and came out with the piercings placed in a way that I had never considered, but totally love. The jewelry selection (and pricing) for device versus needle-piercing differs. Their pricing is a bit more expensive than a typical piercing place. However, it feels like more of an experience here. The piercers are nurses and on both occasions that I have visited a Rowan, have provided appropriate insight regarding placement of piercing and whether device / needle is best. The only thing that I feel is a downside is that they only use 18g for needle-piercing whereas I was used to 16g for my other cartilage piercings. Got my ears pierced 2nd holes & helix. Nurse was amazing so 2 of my kids got theirs done as well. We got freebies, she had a great personality, and the environment was great! We got needle piercings and got rescheduled the 1st time bc the nurse wasn't in so just make sure they are there for needle piercings. read more

They charge $35 for one piercing and then $70 for two. The earrings for piercing are pricy with the lowest being $50. they do a quality job but definitely pricey. the lady that pierced my ears was friendly and helpful. read more

This place is ridiculously expensive. They say piercings start at $55, but honestly, that's not true. Everything is priced separately so a single earlobe costs $35, but you have to buy a single earring of which there was a very very small selection - which was $79. Then they charge you $12 for a bottle of saline solution!! My daughter had both earlobes pierced the second time - $70. Two earrings were $158 and the solution $12. Her friend had her cartilage pierced at $35, a single earring at $105 and solution $12. When checking out, the lowest "tip" amount shown was $58.80!!! That entire trip cost me almost $500!! Super pissed. Never again. Go to at tattoo/piercing shop and save your money. Not worth it. read more

My first experience here was fine. The actual earrings you can pierce with are much fewer than advertised but I found one I liked. The cost of the (fake) earring was $100, the cost to pierce with the needle was $50 (much more than other places). But the reason for my one star review mostly is that when they pierce your ear they use flatback studs and they give you a super long post that weirdly sticks out to avoid swelling. You keep that for a month and then they make you come back to get it shortened and charge you again $30 for the "new post." All around felt like one big money grab for mediocre service. Save your time and money and go to a jeweler. There are so many better options than this!!!!! read more

I have been waiting until my piercings have stopped hurting to write a review, but frankly I don't think that's ever going to happen it's been 5 months and they still ache. I got a 4th lobe piercing done here back in OCTOBER, After waiting almost and 1 1/2 to be seen after making an appointment i was pierced in about 10 mins and I feel like it wasn't super thorough. I purchased their cleaning solution and donut sleeping pillow because I am a side sleeper and I've always needed one. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The pillow is about a EXTREMELY thin! Almost a thin as a piece of paper and it was so uncomfortable. (Not to mention them seam busted and they don't do returns so I'm out $40 there) I chose to get the "machine" piercing which is just a fancy word for a piercing gun. The choices for earrings are extremely limited for what you can get even for a needle piercing. I was so excited to have a place like Rowan in Charlotte because I loved going to Claire's when I was a little girl, so Rowan seemed like an awesome place to go. Sadly no. I will definitely not be returning and will definitely be telling people to not waste their money here. read more

yes this place is hygienic and nice. We found the staff and piercers nice. However, I had two daughters first lobe piercing done recently - one was extremely off even after verifying several times with the nurse for location. One pierced low and one pierced high. My second daughters' earrings are centered but the angle in which the piercing gun came in set them both at an angle outward away from her face. I have to re-do both. Please save yourself the stress and go to a body piercing studio. I am heartbroken they both had terrible piercings. Also as others have said, there were vary few piercing earrings available for selection (completely different from website). So if you are doing a cartilage etc., please keep that in mind you will not have the choices from the website. read more

I wanted my forward helix, and since the website doesn't specify which part of your helix, there wasn't a nurse there that was certified to do it. she rescheduled me so the following day so a different nurse would be there, however I was told they could not do it due to my ear anatomy. I had gotten advice from another shop that my ear was too curved to have it pierced in the way I wanted. I went to Rowan yesterday and they did such an amazing job. I also hate needles but got my cartilage done and I could not recommend this spot enough. The trained nurses know exactly what they are doing. I got pierced by Rachel and she's actually the best. Im so happy with the way it came out. If you are looking for a good piercing spot this is it. It might be a bit pricey but if you want something done right it's totally worth it. read more

Even if you make an appointment you'll be waiting AT LEAST an hour. Super disorganized, super unprofessional. When we asked for an eta or where we were in line they were vague and unresponsive. Do not use Rowan for your next piercing. Not only was a needle cartilage piercing $100+ for a simple, plain earring, but they also didn't have employees who were trained on more than half of the piercings advertised. The piercing site has hurt since my appointment despite cleaning as directed, keeping hair away from the site, etc., and is now severely infected. From cost to friendliness of staff, I've had better experiences elsewhere. read more

My friend and I randomly decided to go into the Southpark store today and we had a FANTASTIC experience! They are transparent about pricing from the start---yes it's a little pricier than a Claire's or a Piercing Pagoda, but very comparable to pricing of a piercing/tattoo studio which I am used to. My friend got her 3rd ear lobe holes done, and I decided on my Tragus. They were out of a lot of the jewelry you could choose, but they were probably waiting on a shipment, no big deal. The ladies working were both super nice, helpful, and professional, and everything felt super clean. The saline solution to purchase was optional, but was only $12. If you're complaining about price then you either didn't listen to them, didn't read signage in the store, or didn't do your research. Also, any piercing I've ever had from a non professional piercing environment (piercing pagoda or Claire's) has become an infected nightmare. They also mark the spots before and have you approve them. With simple lobe piercings you can choose between a needle piercing or a gun piercing. Our piercings came out perfect, and aren't even red at all and are minimally swollen and tender. I will absolutely be back next time I'm in the mood for another ear piercing! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I normally don't leave many reviews but this one is needed. I was so excited to be able to go look around at the different earrings and get a piercing. Upon arrival after a 35 minute drive I was greeted everyone super nice and I had an appt so I was checked in and asked what I wanted. Told her specifically where that was and she said that would be pretty. Was greeted by another lady and same thing asked what I wanted showed her and was told to pick out needle or device and what earring. After I did all of that we waited 10 minutes and when greeted by the nurse who does the piercing she said oh we aren't doing those types of piercings yet. Said they had not had the training yet. So after all of that no piercing and no new earrings for existing piercings. I get everyone has to do trainings but don't say we do all of these piercings open up a shop and have people make appts and drive all this way and not have everything to operate the shop. read more
