I've always wanted to try this place and have finally taken a couple classes here. Everyone is really nice, front desk staff and coaches. I've taken class with two different coaches and between the two Marcos is my favorite. He has high energy and seems excited to have you in class. I took the express class and a restore class. The restore class let me down; I didn't feel challenged. The express class was much better in my opinion. I'm still not sure that I'm 100% sold on the workout. If they run any specials I'd be likely to purchase some classes but their standard pricing is pretty expensive and I really don't like the quick expectation on their class packs. I was genuinely excited to try Row House. I enjoyed my first class, referred friends, and was seriously considering signing up for a membership. Unfortunately, my recent experience with customer service left me very disappointed. I had a few remaining credits from an introductory offer, but due to a short trip and other life commitments, I wasn't able to use them before they expired. I reached out in advance to ask if there was any way to extend them, just a few days, or possibly use them at another location (which I was originally told was allowed). The response I received was a firm no, with little effort to explore a solution. I was instead encouraged to purchase a new package. I understand policies exist, but some flexibility, especially for new and enthusiastic clients -- can go a long way in building loyalty. Sadly, this experience made me feel more like a transaction than a valued potential member. Hoping Row House takes this kind of feedback to heart. I won't be continuing for now. read more

Great studio with very enthusiastic and welcoming instructors. I did not have any previous rowing experience and started with the "Intro to Row House" class. I highly recommend this monthly class because they have more instructors in the class to really guide your form/technique. I enjoyed it so much that I joined the new member trial, then liked that so much upgraded to a monthly membership. Great staff and I'm always happy to get a good work out at this location. Side note: they have one of the most delicious tasting water stations! Really great filter system/So happy to stay hydrated during my class. read more

Starting the new year off right by trying something new! Booking online was simple. They send you a reminder email with everything you need to bring with you and ask that you come in 20 mins early so you can get familiar with the facility and equipment. This was great because I have gone to fitness classes and felt unprepared and out of place. They also follow up with a phone call before your first class as a reminder and to see if you have any questions. When I arrived I was greeted by a super friendly staff member, who showed me around and introduced me to the instructor. The instructor was awesome!!! They set me up on the equipment and helped may get a proper technique so by the time the class started I felt prepared to row for the first time! I attended the restore class which was a nice combination of rowing, standing work, and floor work. The class overall wasn't too easy but it wasn't too hard especially for my first time. After the class both the instructor and the staff member asked me how I liked the class and if I was interested in coming back, it was a very soft sell and I did not feel pressured. Overall I was really impressed with the friendliness and welcoming staff. The people in the class were also super nice! read more

Earlier today, I witnessed workplace harassment by the owner of Row House Belmont. The noon class started in 10 minutes, and half of the class was at the Belmont location early to warm up. Despite the customers present, the owner behaved unprofessionally to the staff, with a loud and hostile tone. She managed to lead a hostile work environment for the entire staff. One of the coaches had to close the doors to the lobby area where the hostility was occurring to salvage any discreetness for the customers present. It's extremely unfortunate for customers to experience an unsettling incident by the owner of Row House. For the regular and new customers, it's the staff who keep us coming back. The coaches at the Belmont location are amazing. After the owner stormed off, Coach Elysse went back to lead the noon class with no change in her normally stellar performance as an instructor. Coach Elysse's positive enthusiasm pushed the class as usual. I noticed that the other staff in the lobby area were visibly traumatized. I was really sad to see them this way, as they're usually peppy and have cultivated a great sense of community for the regulars. The owner's behavior is reflective of the Row House brand. If I don't see any improvements, I will stop going to all the Bay Area locations. The owner should feel ashamed of herself. Your staff have livelihoods. No one deserves to be treated that way. read more

It was my 1st time there, and I had an amazing experience. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by a sweet lady at the desk.. (sorry I didn't catch your name!) She signed me and my friend in, gave us a quick tour, and explained everything to us. Then, while we waited, our coach Elysse came in and introduced herself to us and explained/showed us how to row correctly. She was so nice and welcoming the whole time. I just recently joined. Love the vibe there. Instructors are very professional and very helpful. Front desk, (Debbie) is very nice and always very helpful with answering any questions. Classes are really good! I feel like I get a really good workout. My friend and I came here on the recommendation of one of their coaches and we absolutely LOVED it! The music was great, the energy was motivating, and it barely felt like a work out because we were having so much fun! I absolutely recommend taking Row House classes. I love fitness and was delighted to discover Rowhouse! It's a different variation to my regular routines of running and lifting weights, but most importantly, the classes are exciting with a variety of rowing sessions involving weights or floor exercises. I found a deal for a free session and was happy to sign up for more classes after my initial row session. There are a variety of packages to suit you depending on how often one prefers to take a class or free row. I opted for a package that offers 10 classes within 3 months. There's a handy app to keep track of your rowing stats, reserve classes and purchase more credits. When indoor fitness was legal (hopefully soon again), the AC, music, lighting and screen stats run by enthusiastic instructors made for a motivational class. I've experienced three different instructors, some running different classes and same. I've enjoyed the enthusiasm, personal interaction and coaching. It would be hard to have a favorite. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I had some issues with my credits initially that Jessica the GM helped fix. As of late, they've continued to comply with county health orders moving classes outdoors and keeping them exciting. With extreme heat and wildlife smoke, cancellations have taken place. They are very communicative by text and email if schedules change. I have been enjoying this fun addition to my fitness routine and am always looking forward to a row session! read more

It's been almost a month since their reopening and I think they've done a good job to be COVID compliant. Must wear a mask entering, check in is via the RH app on your phone. They provide you with a plastic bag to store your belongings if you choose (lockers are not available to use). There are tissue boxes & hand sanitizer on the counter. Inside the rowing studio, they've removed 10 rowers and so it's very spacious, adhering to the 6' distancing. It is mask optional when you row. There are a few mats to use, if you choose. Classes are still fun and the programs have been modified, incorporating some of the previous classes into something new and improved. I really enjoy the new "Signature" class because it's floor work plus hand weights; when during pre-COVID times, only the Power class used hand weights. I'm liking the improvements. Once class is over, you are asked to wipe down the erg--nothing new, but now to also wipe down the weights. The cleaning crew (& instructor) comes in to disinfect the floors, the ergs and the weights. When you exit the studio, you must put on your mask to the front lobby. They've done a great job & I feel comfortable coming back and resuming my workout. read more

I have been going to row house for some time and I love it , I did first for physical therapy for my hurt knee , was great it strengthed my knee muscles. Then I had partial knee replacement , I returned 7 weeks later and it's the best physical therapy it is so low impact . As a forewarning, I arrived ten minutes early but was told that because it was less than fifteen minutes I could not attend class but would be credited early cancellation on my account. I thought this seemed unnecessarily harsh given the rowing machine is not particularly complicated compared to other work out equipment, but I understand if they want to enforce this policy rather than acquire a regular customer. However, my main issue is I was not credited an early cancellation as I was told but penalized which the staff assured me would not happen. I find this particularly unreasonable given I was not actually late to the class. I work out in numerous exercise studios around the bay and felt compelled to leave a review as the customer service here was especially rude in comparison. I tried Row house twice as a free trial and loved it! The two different instructors and staff were great - I like that the workouts utilize the machine and free weights as well - variety keeps it interesting! What I enjoyed most is that the workouts are not too intense and also not too easy - it's a good intensity. Parking can be surprisingly difficult so get there a little earlier. I recently tried Row House Fitness and have been attending classes through "OnePass" which is a gym membership through my health insurance carrier and I have the opportunity to go 4 times a month. I've never done a row class and have only rowed a little in previous Orange Theory classes. Everyone who works there is very nice and the instructors are amazing. Before your first class you're supposed to arrive at least 15 minutes early and the instructor will go over the proper form and what to expect in class. It was a great way to make me feel comfortable before taking my first class. Classes are amazing and get your heart rate up without having to run which is a win! I also like how they include some mat work or stretching depending the on class type. 100% would recommend. read more

Totally rad place, after breaking my leg I was insecure about working out again but this place got me back on track. I thought this workout wouldn't work because of using my leg but the way they guide you through it makes it pretty easy but then next thing ya know you're really getting into quite an addicting workout. Really excellent experience with Row House Fitness in the introductory clinic yesterday. As a first time rower, I was nervous but didn't need to be. They were welcoming and friendly, and the instructor Elyse put us all at ease immediately. She explained the equipment and proper technique clearly, and she demonstrated the moves and took the time to make sure each rower had personal feedback and encouragement. The instructors made me feel welcomed on my first visit. They showed me everything from signing in, the lockers, bathroom , water station and then to the row station. The nice thing about this workout is you can make it as easy or as hard as you want. It was a good workout, made me sweat and different from the normal hiit type workouts I've done.
