The Origin crew (Dario, Heather, Don and the entire team) are the gold standard for health and fitness practitioners. A lot of places say they have built a community but not a lot of places have built a legacy. Origin is the type of place that becomes a part of you. When you join a gym or a health and fitness institution - you hope to take something with you and typically it's a few good tips, repeatable workouts but at Origin, you unleash a part of you that you didn't know was there - untapped potential - mentally, physically, emotionally, even spiritually. The Origin legacy lives within every member that walks in and out of that door.

Great follow on IG to say motivated and updated. Plus, you get a great sneak peek into the actual gym before you go.

We all want the same thing from a gym... We want to be surrounded by folks that motivate us, equipment that will test our strengths, Coaches that improvise our programming, adapt to our individuality and help us overcome any fears, and a community that keeps us coming back. This gym is full of a bunch of bad ass women and men from all walks of life and skill sets. I'm really happy I found this gym because I miss my old CrossFit gym but I dislike CrossFit. Dario and his coaches have a fantastic knowledge of functional training and have motivated me beyond what I thought I was capable of. This gym and the people that train here make 2020 better. TL;DR: If you want a well-rounded gym experience and make some new friends this is the place to go. You're welcome.

An example of what my specific/personalized workout has looked like. It's amazing how far I've come since starting at this gym.

LOOONG overdue review but here I am, comin in HOT! It's been 4 months since I've joined Origin, and I've gotten more out of this gym than any other workout/boutique gym I've tried. I originally joined because my main goal was weight loss, but my attendance at this gym evolved because of the people, the coaches, and the growth I've received both inside and outside of this gym... not to mention I've tested my strength and have discovered a whole other side of me I never even knew existed. I will warn you though, this is not another one of your average "hurry in and finish the same workout everyone else is doing in 50 minutes and call it a day" type of gyms. What's awesome is that your workouts are PERSONALIZED (created based on your goals). Each class is set up so that you're working out with other people at the same time with a coach (who is prepared for your attendance) overlooking the class and providing guidance when needed/also readily available for you if you need help with form etc.. Don't hesitate to set up a free "Day 1" consultation visit to check out the gym and understand what Dario and this gym is all about! If you're looking for a community with like-minded individuals striving toward fitness/personal growth goals as well as creating strong relationships with your coaches/peers (and getting fit/strong during the process!!), then Origin is the place for you. Whether your novice or advanced, teen or adult, I highly suggest you check it out!!

I wish there was an audio function to Yelp reviews because there is truly so much I want to share about Origin, the Owner & Leader, Dario, his Team, and the overall Community! There are few places outside of your own home that truly feel like home... Dario has managed to make Origin a home away from home, one where you can be your true self (regardless of where your personal starting point is) and a place where the best version of yourself is developed daily and challenged in a way that propels you to success in all levels of your life, for that, I thank you Dario! I'll try to keep it short & sweet, no promises though... 1. Dario is more than an Owner or Trainer, he's a true Leader and whether he knows it or not, is executing on the Servant Leadership Philosophy (a philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world.) 2. The personalized workouts, nutrition plans, and overall coaching allow for anyone, regardless of experience or lack thereof to start and succeed, from day one. 3. If you're ready and willing to put in the work, you WILL see results, and sustainable ones too. Here's the thing, I know very few places that can truly serve and develop under one roof the newbie to fitness, the ex-Cross Fitter, the competing Olympic Weight Lifter, the recovering Power Lifter, a teen athlete, a senior working on mobility, and all in between... And do it in a way that raises the bar on training, coaching, customer service, and makes it fun and rewarding every single day. If you're ready to make a change, align yourself with the best, join Origin and experience the difference!

1 Year after working out at Origin!

Before joining Origin, I thought the greatest thing I could ever tell a trainer is, "I want my body to look like yours!" I can honestly say after meeting Dario, Don, Heather and Sarah that not only do they have the bodies that I want for myself but more importantly, they have helped me to fall back in love with weight training and working out! Previous to Origin, I weighed over 200lbs+ and had a waist that was over 34 inches. I considered myself a workout expert, having been consistently weight training since I was 15 years old. I religiously subscribed to and watched various workout magazines, videos, etc. along with working out 3-4 times a week. One year after being at Origin, I have dropped to between 170lbs - 175lbs and my waist is now 30 inches. In addition, I have set personal records for squat and deadlifts. They've also helped me to get back into great cardio shape where I recently ran a 7:15 mile, the fastest I've run since college. The best part is I've achieved these results at the age of 45! Origin has helped me turn back the clock! The coaches at Origin not only provide an awesome environment to work out in, they also motivate with positive energy, and help to continuously improve technique and form. I can honestly say each coach has helped me learn something new about my body and/or better my form. It never ceases to amaze me how each of them will notice a very subtle movement, make recommendations on how to fix it and boom the improvement comes soon thereafter! Origin does a masterful job of blending the benefits of Olympic lifting with CrossFit concepts. They spend the time to figure out your body's specific needs and craft a specialized workout that never gets stale and boring. I look forward to the program changes they make, keeping my body guessing and thus helping me to be the best version of myself. They've also helped me look at my eating habits differently, to something that I can manage and still indulge once in a while. I can't thank Dario and the rest of the team at Origin enough for everything they've done. As they say, we only get one body in this life. I trust Origin and Origin only to help me maximize my body!

If you need a spot, help learning an exercise or just have questions about fitness in general, there is usually someone there with the knowledge and willingness to help. You will never have to wait for equipment like at a commercial gym. The gym is open 24/7. The equipment is constantly being updated and there are always new toys to play with. It is clear that the owners care about the gym and constantly invest in it. I've been in the powerlifting community for over a decade and can say with absolute certainty that if you're looking for a gym to join, I would absolutely 100% recommend this one!

Equipment: If stuff isn't broken or bent, it just isn't there. I've seen gyms with half the space have more kilos and power bars available. Not to mention they have an entire area dedicated to machines that look like they only get used when the cleaners dust them off. I heard the owners have been promising more stuff, but nothing's come except a small ah set of plates. Facilities: Bathroom was straight up vile with a busted toilet seat. Floors are legit slimy, and I saw maybe two people tops wipe off their equipment. I asked some of the other members if the gym ever brings in a maintenance crew to clean the place down, but they told me the cleaning is done by like a family and kids LMAO Management: Day-to-day is run by this dude named Jostin (Justin?), but outside of my first visit I barely saw the man. Bro is either not at the gym or locked up in the back office. Only time I remember seeing him was when his doordash arrived. The other owners are barely in too, and I heard the main dude isn't even in state anymore??? Cost: Game time. Based on what I've said, guess how much they ask for a month. Two-fn-hundred without a contract, 150 for a 6 month. Place thinks is premium-premium but is giving vibes that make 24 look like Equinox. The members must love burning cash because they could do so much better for much less

You'll get a better monthly deal that way and not have to monitor charges monthly. This building is super old and the parking situation is hellacious most of the time to say the least. Sometimes, I will just hit the freeway and go to Redwood City if the lot is jam packed with cars lined up waiting for spaces. The gym itself has lots of older weight training equipment which I prefer to the newer types. The cables run more smoothly, and the machines appear to be built better. I know nothing of the class situation here. The cardio machines are plentiful on the other side: ellipticals, treadmills, stair climbers, stationary bikes and rowing machines. I wish they would the spray bottle back on the wall near the ab area providing three instead of the two on opposites sides of the gym. The locker room leaves more to be desired, but it's generally clean. My journey started with a quick 15 minute phone call with the owner (Elliot) who was extremely friendly and understanding as I explained to him about my pandemic weight gain woes in being sedentary from working from home and how I needed to jump start my workout routine. He got me excited to sign up for the free 30 minute consultation that I booked it within the same week. He then connected me with one of his trainers (Manny) who provided me with a walk-through of the gym layout and general overview of a training session. Without any hesitation, I went ALL IN and signed up for the 4x/week package and 7 months later I can honestly say that I am healthier and stronger than I have been in years. I am also super lucky to have the best top-notch trainers (Manny, Lauren, and Brenden) constantly motivating and helping me every step of the way in designing challenging but enjoyable workout sessions so that I can achieve my personalized fitness goals. The staff are…read moreconsistently friendly and welcoming, the crowd is respectful, and the location and hours are very convenient. However, I can't give more than two stars unless management seriously improves equipment maintenance. Several machines have had "Out of Service" stickers on them for at least six months, with no visible progress on repairs. In some cases there are only one or two of those machines in the entire gym, so when one is broken for months, it becomes very inconvenient for members who rely on that equipment. On top of that, some of the existing equipment is clearly aging (frayed cables, worn components, etc.). What makes this more frustrating is that the gym offers a premium membership tier that includes access to the hydro/water massage bed, but that has also been out of service for a long time. Even more concerning, the water fountain and bathroom have both been out of service multiple times. That's a basic facility issue. Members need access to drinking water and restrooms during workouts. Meanwhile, the gym sells bottled water at the counter, which feels especially frustrating when the fountain isn't working. On a few occasions they even had to bring in a porta-potty outside the gym, which says a lot about the state of the building facility. Again, I genuinely want to rate this gym higher because the staff and community are great. If management commits to properly repairing and maintaining the equipment and facilities, I would absolutely be happy to update this review and increase the rating.

I don't know what the health and safety code is for bathrooms in gyms, but I'm pretty sure they are violating it. The bathroom situation is just annoying. As far as the actual gym and equipment, they got all the basics for a decent workout. My biggest complaint is that once a machine is broken, they take months to repair them. There are workout benches that have not been fully operational for 6 months. It's ridiculous. At this point, just buy some new ones... but that's not going to happen. This gym is run by cheapos cutting corners, but I guess that's what I get for $40 a month. Also, as some other reviews have stated, the gym is pretty dusty. They should get a cleanup crew to come in every once in a while and give the gym a deep clean...but they are CHEAPOS!

The team is constantly cleaning, and it shows. 3. It's a nice vibe. People always wipe down equipment after they're done. I didn't see that much when I was at 24 Hour Fitness or the Bay Club. 4. The dues are dirt cheap. $30 a month includes the Black Card amenities like massage beds. That said, here's the Bad: 1. No pool or sauna - That's fine for me, but if you like those then this gym isn't for you. 2. No group classes - Not my thing, so I didn't care. 3. Sometimes I do have to wait a couple of minutes for a stair climber (they only have four), and the area around the free weights is pretty packed most of the time.
