Found the diner on Warhouse gyms website. If you're coming from out of town the diner is 15/20 mins from the gym. Managed to get some eggs, toast and salad for pre gym gains! Food comes out quick and good. read more

We have breakfast there every other Sunday. Food is decent, service depends on who you have - sometimes its great - sometimes not so great. Prices are good - they have great breakfast specials. Speed food comes out is OK - not fast but not overly slow either. read more

Im not typically a diner fan, but i like this place because its a little smaller and doesnt have as much of a diner feel to it. Food selection is typical diner and the service is friendly. The breakfast special cant be beat ($2.99 i think it was for eggs, bacon, hash). Friendly service and usually pretty clean inside and out. Plenty of parking in their private lot. I live just 5-7 mins from the Route 61 diner so I come here often if I don't feel like cooking and don't want to go to Wyomissing for food. The Route 61 diner is delicious and I've tried a lot of diners. I never have had an issue with this diner and I've been living here for 23 years now. The waitress staff are so sweet and being that I am considered a "regular" I suppose at this point they almost know exactly what I want half of the time! I know some of the staff here always come and go, but there are some whom have stayed for many years. I give the waitress staff credit too and the cooks because I've come here when it was busy and also when it wasn't. It can be overwhelming, but they still do an excellent job being attentive and providing good diner food. I recommend it and also visit the cats in the back of the diner! :) read more

It's about 7:30 on a Friday night, and the reviews prompted us to try 61. Service was just okay. Food was touch and go. The lobster bisque on the soup and salad bar didn't have much flavor, and was only luke warm. The salad bar itself was just acceptable. Chicken Oscar and Tex-Mex chicken were good. Coffee was very good. I was amazed that they decided to run the vacuum while we were eating! What the heck, it's not like it was midnight. 61 just isn't all that. read more

We stopped here for lunch after finding this place on Yelp. The menu is standard diner fare and the prices are quite reasonable - if not down right cheap! My family of five had lunch for only $25! That really can't be beat (try to feed five for $25 at McD... almost impossible!) and the food was pretty good all around. I ordered a diner staple - a Monte Cristo - and it had to be one of the best I've had. Our waitress was quick to swap out my son's burger with another one when he discovered the first had cheese on it, thus rendering the good looking beef patty inedible *gasp* by his palette! This diner offers an broad breakfast selection at reasonable prices. It is very clean with good size booths and tables. Despite being packed, service was good. This was the first visit of our 4 person party. We had a three different omelets and I had traditional 2 eggs' home fries with bacon. We all agreed the food was very good and we will be back. I stop in at least once a week as the prices and food make this my kind of place. On my last visit, just after 9 :30 PM, I ordered the Gyro platter with Greek salad, fries, cup of soup, and bread with butter. This is on the printed menu. I do not like the fries here, so I asked to "sub" them for onion rings. It was extra but worth it for me. I was able to get my own soup as the salad bar was still open and after I was done with my soup, my gyro and onion rings came out. No Greek salad or bread and butter? Another server had to get this for me and finally my server showed up with some bread and butter. In the past, I received my Greek salad and bread with my soup. But to have to ask for something that states it comes with the platter, printed on the menu....that is poor service and perhaps my server didn't intend for this to happen? I know she is a really nice person and this might have been an off night for her. I still left a decent tip and will be eating here until the moon burns out. read more

I went in with senior citizens that I work with, one of which was having a birthday. We got great care and assistance, our waitress, Elizabeth, was right on top of things, very patient with us (coming back several times until we had our order, ordering additional drinks later, etc...this may seem like ordinary service, but with our group, let me tell you, it was much more than "ordinary"..lol) Our food was delish and portions are large! Salad bar looked all fresh and well kept up (it was a busy afternoon.) Prices are good, I think we spend about $27 not counting tip for 3 of us and 2 of us brought home food. She also came out with a surprise cupcake and candle and her and another waitress sang happy birthday to the birthday boy! That made his day! Growing up in the area, this was a regular spot, especially as teenagers. Perfectly cooked French Toast, and buttered toast, good bacon, awesome spinach/feta omlette. Great food! Service was sloooow. Waitress sucked, I had to refill our coffee myself. She only asked about a refill, once, and it was at the end of the breakfast. Oh, and she blamed my wife's toast for why the food took soooo long. Good job lady. Looked for a place for a quick stop while traveling through Reading on Christmas Day for a good old fashioned diner breakfast experience. I called ahead to see if they were open on Christmas and was told "until 2:00 pm." This place did not disappoint! Friendly staff, quick service, hot delicious food, fair price. My husband and I sat at the counter and watched the bustling waitresses work their magic. No one was flustered or frenzied and everyone smiled and said Merry Christmas. Bessie made sure our coffee was filled and that we had all we needed. With full tummies and a snack for our dog Gus, we headed out and on to our destination. Service was friendly but the food was sorely lacking. My husbands omelette was decent but the home fries were under cooked and looked more like leftover mashed potatoes than home fries. The scrapple was too thick and not crispy enough. My side salad was fresh. The "French Onion" soup (crime to call it that) was basically chicken stock with onions, a large handful of salad croutons and mozzarella cheese. Not worth the time or money. read more

Decided to stop for dinner today for our anniversary. 33 years ago we met at this location( was under different ownership back then). We haven't been here in quite some time and they have done some remodeling. Hubby and I both ordered sandwiches. His Rueben came out open-faced but the menu did not indicate it would be. Our waitress had only provided a spoon and a knife, makes eating an open faced Rueben difficult. Hubby got up and took a clean fork from a nearby table as the waitress was not around. My Greek burger was fine but could have used more feta cheese. The fries were hot but did not taste like fresh potatoes. Waitress gave us our bill before asking if we wanted dessert. We ordered cherry pie because that's basically all she knew about. Then she never added the pie to our bill, just said happy 4th! Nice but not sure the owner would like it. Heard her tell another customer she was only on the job for 2 weeks. Hopefully she'll get better. Was nice enough but didn't seem to know what to do. First, there is a high turn over rate when it comes to their waitresses. All the ones that were good, left. Most of them don't know the menu. Oh goodness where do I start with the numerous times that we have been here and we still came here for the terrible service. Well, one time my cousin and I were there around 8:30pm and got seated to the left and there was a cockroach on the table one time. Another time my mom had some potato soup and here was a short strand of dark hair in it. We came mostly on Sunday's because of their Sunday special, granted its a great menu, double check your bill because sometimes it's wrong where the server doesn't put the right price in and you are over charged. (Happened 3 different occasions) We came 3 Sunday's out of the month most of the time until service went downhill. We always tipped well over 20% for great service. From what I recall as a former waitress myself, TIP is based on service. 20% or more is earned, do you really think I would tip you $20 on a $30 bill if I see you playing with your phone while my food is getting cold and my cup sit empty? Another time I swore our waitress must have been on something good to make her so mellow, first off... Why are you wearing see through leggings where I can see your bright red panties? I asked for a chocolate milkshake, she brings me vanilla, she then takes it and makes my "chocolate shake" which then is vanilla milk mixed with chocolate syrup. Messed up my order and just kept apologizing which to the point made me feel bad and wasn't that mad that my order was messed up but because she kept apologizing. They last time I went and refuse to ever go back, is when my mom had found a strand of hair in the soup. The time before then, there were 4 adults, a 5 year old and an infant. Sunday specials are ordered, which also comes with a free dessert, how do we know? Because we went there so damn often we knew the damn menu. It even states it on the bottom of the paper. How does this waitress hand the bill to my mother and say "I gave you the wrong dessert so I only charged you $1.99 instead of $3.99" excuse me, you want me to pay for your mistake? What's even more ridiculous is that she is the niece of the owner. Now multiply 1.99 by 4 because there were 4 adults with that Sunday special. It's the principle. Oh and wait, it gets better. She then says "that's fine, will pay with my own money, they don't let us substitute cake for ice cream because they yell at us."(which was substituted many times before). New and corrected bill, now tell me why it says 5 coffee when there are only 4 adults. I go to the register to pay, I told them there is a mistake with the coffee, they looked at me like I had 3 heads. The waitress comes over with the look of how annoyed she is with me, I explained there is a mistake with the coffee. She replies "well didn't the little boy have coffee?" I was so pissed at that point I looked at her and said "why would I give my 5 year old coffee?" She continues on "no the other one" (my brother is 17 and is not a little boy, who looks like an adult) I told her there are 4 cups, to go over there and count. Goodness drama for breakfast no thanks, I'm easy to please when it comes to service. All you have to do is make sure my drink is refilled and repeat my order so we can avoid mistakes. It's...um...okay. When I went in for dinner, the place smelled weird, like vinegar, and it really needed a shift-change cleaning. The salad bar was okay. The pepper pot soup was lumpy and not good at all. The portion of chicken parm was ridiculously huge, but a lot of it was fatty and gristly. The tiramisu cake was pretty darn good though. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We were seated at 7:45, the hostess took our order and brought our beverages. 45 minutes later our waitress showed up and asked "how was your meal". Since the only thing on the table was our beverage we asked what meal. She looked embarrassed and said I'll get on it right away. Another 10 minutes goes by and the waitress comes out with 2 bowls of French onion soup. I tried to eat the soup, it was horrible the onions were raw, the bread liquified and the cheese not worth mentioning. Another 10 minutes and the sandwich, that should have been served with the soup arrived. The sandwich was a sloppy mess. The cooks were fighting, the waitress was crying and the owner came out and said he wouldn't discount the check. No one asked to have the check discounted. read more

OMG if you like stuffed flounder, this is the place to go. Get this: TWO stuffed flounder servings, 2vegetables, soup and salad bar, ( which in itself is awesome), AND an appetizer, your choice of 6 steamed clams or 2 stuffed shrimp all for 9.50. I go on Fri, they have Mac and cheese, and THE BEST stewed tomatoes I have ever tasted. Their soups are wonderful! I love their flounder so much that it's the only thing I get when there! my friend & i were here at past 10pm on a weekday a few days after Sandy & the northeaster Athena. the place wasn't crowded but it looked inviting from outside because of bright white lights inside. as soon as we have checked what's on the menu, we decided we would have rueben sandwich with potato fries each, and would share a huge plate of appetizers (onion rings, chicken, mozzarella sticks). nice & rich food, i have to say, which I always expect from diners like this one. i also had 3 mugs of hot coffee. the service was friendly and sincere. it's a 24-hour operation and I would see customers showing up as couples, and/or alone. and it seems like they know one another other. we missed the salad bar, which closes by 9pm. we'll probably be back as soon as we have the chance. read more

Stopped in recently on a Saturday night around 8:30 with our family of 4. Was very empty in there- and now I know why......this place is HORRIBLE!!!!! We got seated right away, selected drinks and then looked over the menu. We then made our dinner choices from the "Super Value Dinner Menu" insert. When the waitress came back to take our order and we proceeded to tell her what our selections were, she stated "Oh...it's after 8pm. We were supposed to take those inserts out." As she then grabbed them out of both our menus while they were still in our hands!!! Nowhere on the insert does it say a specific time limit to order those specials- anywhere!!! Then as we were ordering, another waitress yelled to ours about leaving the vacuum out and they proceeded to have a conversation yelling across the room while she was in the middle of taking our order!!! Finished ordering, my husband's dinner (now full price because even though it was THEIR MISTAKE for not taking the inserts out) included unlimited trips to the soup & salad bar. As soon as we were done ordering, my husband went up to the salad bar and brought a cup of soup back to the table for himself. He turned around to go get his first plate of the salad bar and the help from the back came out & CLEARED THE ENTIRE SALAD BAR BEFORE HE COULD EVEN MAKE ONE PLATE!!!!!!!! Really?!?!???!?!!! Wow! Some nerve! Never asked us if we ordered a salad bar before taking it all away!!!! They never offered any lf us dessert. They NEVER EVEN BROUGHT OUT THE FREE ICE CREAM THAT WAS "INCLUDED" IN MY 7 yr old's dinner!!! We never got an apology or anything taken off our bill! We will NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN.
