The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. After going to Brantley's for years, we went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change today because Brantley's wasn't open, and it was a horrible mistake. We should have waited until he was open. They forgot to screw back on the undercarriage, and we had to turn to around immediately to get them to screw it back on. This has never, and nothing like this would ever, when we entrust out cars to Brantley's.

One of the few shops around that will give you an estimate and stick to it. If he says something needs to be fixed, then it does. And same goes for if he says it doesn't yet need work, then he leaves you with the option of repairing something and paying for something that didn't really need to be done.
