    Pabst Blue Ribbon

To the locals and regulars that frequent "Round Corner Tavern", this is your no-frills "dive bar" that has withstood the test of time over the years. In my younger days when chugging down drinks was a more common occurrence, I usually found myself coming here on a bar/pub crawl or a spot where I walked in, knew what I wanted, and stayed for an hour, sometimes two, or even through the wee hours of the night. Located in the heart of Midtown Sacramento and at the corner of 24th and S St's, this place has retained much of its charm where not a lot has changed over the years. I came here on a whim and parked only a stones throw away from the main entrance. Inside you will notice a pool table and a fairly decent interior with barstools and regular tables & chairs. The bar itself has everything you need to get you going with several cheap beers on tap as well as all the regular hard liquors to choose from. Surprisingly, they have a fairly decent food selection specializing in all the comfort classics including wings, tacos, burgers, chicken tenders, a BLT, and deep-fried sides. Since I wasn't too hungry, I ended up enjoying an iced cold Pabst Blue Ribbon (on tap) for a very affordable $4.50 for a pint. One thing I particularly like with this place (as well as other dive bars such as "Old Tavern", "Benny's", etc.) is that you can enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. And please drink responsibly by getting a designated driver and/or taking rideshare. However, the service here leaves a lot to be desired. During my visit (which was the night of Saturday 7/20/2024 at around 9:30pm), there was only one bartender working the entire bar. He was helpful and poured my drink while the overall beer temperature was chilled perfectly. So if you're looking for a fancy place, this place ain't it. But if you prefer that true old-school gritty dive experience, "Round Corner" will have you covered. My rating, just an average three stars.

Round Corner is located on the corner of S st and 24th, so pretty much all street parking. We came on a Monday around 6:30 and had zero issues finding a spot. Inside is reminiscent of your typical dive bar, dark and dank. There were a few spots to sit at in front and a few more tables in the back past the 2 pool tables. For those of you who play pool, the bumpers are good, so adjust your game accordingly. This is a cash only bar which I'm not a fan of but beers were cheap, $4.50 for a Corona. They do have an ATM if needed. They also have a touch-tunes style jukebox which hardly no one used the whole time we were there. They do have a few TV's which aired the World Series and some football games. Didn't get the friendliest vibe from the bartender or regular patrons. They do serve food and it smelled good but I just couldn't see $18 for 10 chicken wings, seems a bit too steep for mediocre bar food. The woman's bathroom is super tiny and only 1 stall but was well maintained. They have an "adult" vending machine in the woman's stall instead of your normal tampon machine, which I thought was hilarious. Curiosity got the best of me but unfortunately the machine did not work. There were tampon on the top of the machine tho should you find yourself in need. Overall, just an average dive in downtown. Probably not on my list of places to return unless it's for another pool league game.

I went to a concert at the new building around the corner. Cool atmosphere. Only negative if they wouldn't keep an open tab. But oh well, that's the least of my worries. Drinks are reasonable food and the food looks good. next time I'll ask them.

    Round Corner Tavern's AH-MAZING neon sign-5 stars!!!
    Angela W.

I was outside taking a photo of the vintage neon sign (a classic old school neon that's one of the best I've ever seen) One of the workers (bartender?) happened to be at the entrance and gave me a short history of the place. Including the time someone drove their truck through the front door. He invited me inside and it was just what you'd expect to see in an old bar, in a good way. Good vibes, friendly patrons and a semi-cranky bartender, also in a good way. If I'm ever back in Sacramento on a hot summer day, I'd seek out Round Corner Tavern in a heart beat & a NY minute. Cheers!

Great neighborhood institution, full bar, pool tables, and outstanding kitchen, regular and daily menu perfect for eating there or take out, convenient for new, Nextdoor music venue channel24.

Friendly staff and seemed clean enough. Reasonably priced.

Cute dive bar with pool tables and tvs. They also offer food like chicken tenders and fries. I didn't eat, but the regulars seemed to like them. I went Friday during the day and there was about 10 people there, but I bet it gets busier after work.

    Lumpia!

Hidden gem in Sacramento! The vibe is absolutely a dive bar but everyone is very friendly. The staff are awesome! My friends and I came in for a quick drink & bite to eat and we left full and so happy to start our Friday night. Lumpias we're perfection. They were rolled perfectly and had plenty of filling. I loved their lemon pepper wings. But omg, the chicken tacos were the best! I saw lots of over reviews that claim these were the best chicken tacos they've had and I thought they were crazy...but they're THAT good. The shell is crunchy and the toppings are just loaded on top. It's not pretty to eat but absolutely delicious! Keep in mind that they get pretty busy so if you want a place to sit, I recommended going in before 7. They also accept cash only!! If you happen to go in without cash, there's an atm inside.

Security checked our IDs at the door, and once we walked in, the bar area was packed. Luckily, there were reserved booths nobody was using and my girl, and I sat there since the main bar was crowded. It actually worked out perfect for us. It gave us space to sit, relax, and have a good conversation without feeling cramped. We ordered a couple of colorful drinks that were nicely balanced and flavorful, not too overpowering, and easy to enjoy. The music was hip-hop which is right up my alley, so the vibe was definitely on point. What really stood out was the atmosphere. I've never been in a bar quite like this where jellyfish were hanging from the ceiling, and a whole underwater theme. I was told a mermaid appears over the bar at certain times, but sadly, I didn't get to see her this visit. Overall, it was a great spot to end the night after the movie. Good drinks, good music, and a unique sea-themed vibe. If I return, I will hope to see a mermaid

The bar tenders have horrible customer service even when the bar isn't busy. It seems like they rather hang out and chat with regulars and friends than serve paying customers. The security guards we're blatantly discriminating against my friend for no good reason. Also, security apparently accepts bribes at the front door to let people in, so much for safety. The drinks were in my opinion overpriced and didn't taste good. Maybe I'm biased because my whole experience here put a complete sour taste in my mouth. Then, to top it all off my friends and I were being harassed by two patrons who had clearly been overserved the entire time we were there. We had no choice but to leave and we will never be back again! After visiting I wanted to leave a review because I felt other people should steer clear. To my surprise, I read reviews here that mentioned almost the exact experience we had. So, this is not an isolated incident and Dive Bar has not taken our comments into consideration. Disclaimer: I did not have this experience, but it was very disheartening to see all the reviews, tik toks, reels, etc. I found after visiting Dive Bar in which women and men are claiming to have been roofied. This may or may not be true, but it can't be a coincidence this many people have had the same experience. There needs to be an investigation into this bar. I myself will be placing a call to the BBB and I hope that anyone who has had that experience feels empowered to speak to the authorities.

This bar is truly a definition of a dive bar-dark lighting inside, they tend to play throwback music 100% of the time which is awesome-the bartenders here are always super friendly and always seem young-not always the most experienced bartenders you will run into but they always do their job with lots of enthusiasm and friendly demeanors-I think that's important. The drinks themselves are pretty inexpensive per todays Sacramento downtown standards,I think my old fashioned ran for either $10 or $11 which is pretty good and they are always solid-they make very solid get the job done keep the vibe going level drinks and at that price-that's a winning combination. My favorite part of this bar though for me is easy-it's the outside back patio. It features a few long tables and it's mostly frequented by someone either looking to smoke a cigarette or vape,I personally will go back there and light up a cigar and just enjoy the craziness that occurs back there.By craziness I just mean a lot of people socializing-laughing telling stories and getting along,u literally can strike up conversations with people you never met before just based on the fact that you know anybody who finds themselves in the back outside patio at B-Side knows what's up-nobody lands there on accident-it's a super chill spot with a never ending cast of unknowns who might sit next to you and just be prepared as your probably going to have the most random conversation you have ever had in your life. Also, no popcorn all over the floor like I remember from back then -- the whole place feels much more updated and polished now. They also do karaoke now, and apparently it's a pretty big deal. From what I've seen, if you leave a bad review - you are banned from there! Reviews are meant to be helpful and changes should be made if it's about the same person. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for months. We would easily spend hundreds of dollars there. One night, where we had been drinking, it looks like he miss wrote his tip. The bartender, Marissa, asked me if her service was poor. He left $2 on a $100. Does he always leave 20%? Most of the time yes. But the bartender asked me if the tip was bad because of her service. First off, ask him and not me. That put me in an incredibly uncomfortable position. Feeling bad for the misunderstanding, I sent her a Venmo of $20. On top of the $6 I left her on my $20 tab. Easily over 20%, so it should have been all taken care of, right? Wrong. Boyfriend went in a few days later and all of a sudden she describes him (to his face) as "the guy who never tips." Let me remind everyone, he had been going there for a few years. Ma'am, you got your 20% tip. You should not be bringing this up again. Once my BF found out about the interaction her and I had had a few days earlier, he wrote a review. He tried to entera few days later and all of a sudden he was not allowed in the bar. Marissa also kindly sent me a Venmo of $40 saying she didn't need "mine or his money." We were not trying to create a false narrative as everything that happened was 100% true. As soon as you complain about your tip and I give you a 20% tip, that should be over and done with and not to be mentioned again. It was a mistake on his end unfortunately, but she was incredibly unprofessional in all aspects of this interaction. Our friend went a few weeks ago to Pine Cove, and when he said the amount he was charged was a lot more than he originally signed for, I asked who the bartender was and lo and behold, it was Marissa. He said his total was $26 and when the payment went through on his bank, he was charged $40! So now we are overwriting people's tips because you need to get money a different way. I understand you need tips to survive when you're in the service industry, but the way she makes it happen is incredibly unprofessional and fraudulent. Ownership. Take the reviews seriously. If you're constantly having poor reviews based on the same things, some aspects need to change. We loved going to Pine Cove but now we aren't allowed to come back. I would get if we were in a fight or throwing up at the bar, but he didn't tip well and he called her out on her unprofessional behavior. Not that I'm doing it, I won't be back either!
