Warning: Roto Rooter has an exceptional online presence and very thorough appointment setting process. It's simple and fluid. The customer service on the front end was very good as well. That's where it stops.
We had no hot water. We thought it may be our insta-hot water heater. The technician came promptly as promised but it was clear almost immediately that he had no knowledge or training on the equipment. He bluffed his way through an explanation without an inspection and then said he had to call his manager for guidance.
He returned to say he could replace a part, which he had to order or he could install a new hot water heater at a cost of thousands of dollars. I chose neither.
I called PG&E, which came out immediately and diagnosed a problem at our meter. It was fixed at no cost and we were back in business.
Roto Rooter, however, charged us $85 for the "service fee" noting the technician came after hours (it was 7:30pm). I complained that there was not only no "service" performed, the recommendation was reckless and very costly.
You shouldn't front that you can assist when that was absolutely not the case. It appears that Roto Rooter's specialty is luring you in to set the appointment. It seems customers would be better off if that same time and resources were put into the fixing part of the engagement. read more
