There are designated areas for small, medium and large dogs. Some rude lady had brought her two giant aggressive dogs in the medium dog area unleashed just running around are tormenting the smaller dogs. My dog was attacked multiple times and the owner had the nerve to get mad at me when I yelled about keeping her dogs under control. As I was leaving some other poor elderly lady brought her small dogs and they were instantly attacked by some other persons unleashed dogs in the parking lot. There should be a sheriff present there at all times cause it's a total disaster. If you love your dog and don't wanna get into arguments with disconnected people then stay far away from here.

The dog park is located in the Avalon Park development off of SR 54 near the main clubhouse. To my surprise it is pretty big and all fenced in with benches in the shade as well as in the sun. It also has a water fountain and has two dog waste stations and poop bags are stocked! The downside was my dog didn't have anyone to socialize with as it was pretty quiet and no one around but he still managed to run around and get in some good exercise playing fetch with me. I will definitely come back with him again on a day like this beautiful day! Hoping next time their will be other dogs for him to play with.

I really love this park!…read more I saw the signs for it & just decided to check it out as I love to visit the Nature parks. This park is exceptionally beautiful. It has an old vintage Florida feel with gorgeous old moss covered trees, kids play areas, an old vintage railroad, tons of biking & walking/hiking trails & a giant Lilly covered pond/lake. I had such a great time the first time I went. There was wildlife everywhere & I got to video some very friendly birds. I went back again & it was even more beautiful the second time, than the first time as it had just rained & all the flowers were blooming. They have a little garden there. It's just so precious. This place is so very beautiful. I keep finding all these different trails, they are obviously working on it & making it bigger with more trails. It's a very peaceful place, Like a forgotten tropical wilderness stuck in time. I have not seen more than 5 people here at once. I love all the Nature Parks for hiking but I have to admit. This one is very special & very unique. I can't wait to return. Highly recommended.

The dog park area is new & very nice thou if you have dogs. There is three different runs sectioned off, one for small dogs, one for large dogs & one for the med sized dogs.

It's easy to find and once you enter, there is a fenced in area for the dogs to run around and play in the water - all of the dogs there were having such a good time running around and swimming. So many happy dogs! The beach itself has tons of sand and lots of shells too. My only recommendation for the humans, is to bring a pair of water shoes to protect your feet. And make sure you check your dogs paws every once in a while to make sure they don't have any shells or rocks stuck on them or in between their toes. The water was shallow enough for the dogs to play in and the larger dogs were just laying in the water to cool off. They have an area on your way out to rinse off as needed. Oh, and there is also another gated dog park close by too if your dog does not want to play on the beach. The best part is that this is a free spot to visit with your 4-legged friends!

This was a mother's day visit- parking was going fast, and the beach was packed. My mom and daughter and I just wanted to walk the island, get some toes wet and in the sand. We enjoyed the water immensely. So much wildlife to see throughout the park. My daughter's first birthday was held in one of the pavilions. Easter picnics with ham-kabobs. As soon as the sunsets, the park rangers were there to make sure that everybody leaves as the park closes at sundown.
