Great park with lots of events right in the heart of NPR. While it is lit up at night I suggest to steer clear of it then. Take bug spray as I got bitten by some fleas on one visit. read more

Nice park that perfectly served its purpose. It has a nice green space area. This was perfect for Mocha Coconut to happily push his soccer ball and play fetch. This was my first time at Sims Park and it won't be my last. This venue is truly beautiful. I was there as a vendor during "Cindy's Pets Strawberry festival " and was so amazed at how lovely the park was and to think I have lived in Odessa for more than 40 years and had never been before. I honestly haven't been to Sims park in AGES. So when I went to go release some painted rocks to the wild, I was really amazed at how far it's come. The old play ground has been demolished and moved, and is now AMAZING with state of the art flooring and play spaces. They were putting down brand new sod yestereday, and adding new water lines to keep it alive. The large screens that were up were showing up coming events, and that was pretty dang awesome! The Shaded spots were plentiful, the covered benches were nice. And now across Orange lake, they have some pretty walk ways and seating areas too. New Port Richey city services has really done a great job making Sims Park a jewel in the city's crown. read more

What a great park with top of the line play-areas for both younger kiddos and those slightly bigger. There's a small splash area for those wee ones looking to cool down from the hot sun. The water must be clean because the smell of Chlorine was pretty strong. There's a new pier area over the water, but there's "no fishing signs", so take heed. Instead walk across the way to the canal area to fish there instead. read more

This park is really cute! The playground is big and has enough for littles and big. There is a smaller playground for the smaller children. There's a stage and a big open grass space where you can have a picnic. There's shade in every spot from trees or overhead structures. Love that there is water around as well with walkways to stroll around. The splash pad wasn't working when we came, so we'll be back to check that out. Parking was easy to get. read more

One of the ways I am able to get my kids to make the half hour drive to Mountaineer Coffee is by bribing them with a trip to Sims Park. There is a lot to like about Sims Park. It has a huge cover that offers great shade. There are also strategically placed trees which means very few spots in the park are in direct sunlight. Equipment wise, Sims has a large enclosed slide, two smaller slides and a conveyor slide. There are rope ladders, at least three climbing bars, monkey bars and a cool walking bridge. Ever seen a four person seesaw? Sims has one. The park also has swings and a crazy climbing wall. Have young children? Sims has an area geared just to them. The young children area has two swings, a slide, a walking bridge and some climbing space. Outside of the playground, Sims offers lots of benches, a splash pad, a large grassy area, rentable pavilions and a concert shell. The park has access to a river making boating, fishing and river walks an option too. Sims Park has something for everyone, no matter what you enjoy (unless you hate the outdoors). It is easily one of Pasco County's most impressive parks. read more

This is a great park for a 5K, which is the main reason I come here. It is situated in historic New Port Richey so the run is beautiful. Enough of that. The park itself is nice, has teachable moments via different areas in the park signage. It is also a Pokémon Go hot spot! There is an open auditorium that hosts various venues and plenty of grassy areas for relaxing. There is one spot of the part of the park where the birds gather in expectation of being fed and a small water area perfect for watching ducks. There are plenty of benches for those who need frequent rest. There is a gulf inlet that runs along one side that adds to the relaxation. There is a jungle gym type area for the wee ones to run off their energy. Now go have fun! read more

This park got a complete facelift a few years ago! Centrally located downtown- this park has an open air amphitheater, pavilion, extensive playground, water play area & borders the Cotee river. There is also an adjacent pond that the city is building mirrored boardwalks/piers on opposite side of the pond! This park is home for several festivals throughout the year and a historic landmark for the town. Within walking distance of several downtown shops and restaurants- this park is perfect for hours of entertainment. Especially with small children! read more

The park locates at the downtown of New Port Richey prime area. It has a beautiful timber jungle gym. The project is to attract young family with kid to an aging small town with a lot of elderly. This condition is part of many small towns in Florida. Sims park offers the control environment to prevent kid go out the perimeter and allow the parent has a little supervision while the kid is playing in the playground. The castle like timber structure in the park offers slide, bridge, tunnel, swing set and many areas to explore. The kid here can play hide and seek. Love it while the parent can enjoy the quiet reading with their favorite book. The park is hugging along the Pithlachascotee River that brings water view to relax your mind. The park is also has a amphitheater for activity of the city. The park has a drinking fountain with the lion statue open the mouth with water fountain inside it. If we lived closer to Sims we would come all the time. They had an event today so parking was a little hard to find but outside that the park is so beautiful and perfect if you have little ones. Only complaint is the fishing prohibited sign. My son asked us to go back again for the playground. Lots of nice restaurants and coffee/dessert a stones throw away. read more

Ok, so this is a mixed review. Overall, I thought the park was beautiful. The new playground was great, well shaded and plenty of activities for all ages. The negatives. Splash park - yeah that's about it. A splash. No interesting water features that couldn't be mimicked by a garden sprinkler. Entrances - There were sooooo many ways in and out of this park. Too many ways for kids to get out. (I'm not a parent who uses their phone while the kiddo is playing). At times I lost sight of my kiddo. There are a lot of structures there. Knowing there were a lot of ways out made me worry. I think a better job could have been done for containment. One playground feature actually led kids right to an exit of the park?!?!? What!!! Playgorund-Cool but a little dangerous. Splash park-BORING! read more

Omg my grandkids love this park. Nice playground that sits well shaded and accommodates younger toddler age kids. The splash pad is a blast and although sometimes a strong smell of chlorine I prefer that to unclean water. They have really cleaned up this park! It is so clean and beautiful now. Aside from how crazy and crowded the playground can get, it is really nice. My only complaint is the lack of baby swings. They have toddler swings, but the safety belt is always broken off, so those are useless. I love the padded floor that replaces mulch. It makes it much more enjoyable. It also has a nice cover to protect kids and adults from the sun. Bathrooms always seem nice and clean, even during big events, so that is a bonus. They recently installed 2 docks on the lake so you can walk out and see the water. It's a nice little touch and brings something new to the area. There isn't much to complain about since they renovated it. It's relaxing. read more

We went to Sim's Park a week before the 4th of July to see their Fireworks display over Orange Lake. The lake is located in the center of a very nick neighborhood and the Fireworks are right over the Lake. The show started at 9:15 pm and lasted about 20 minutes. It started with what looked like the Finally and kept building until the really spatular Finally. The crowd is large because there is also a food and music Festival going on at the Band Shell. There are plenty of Portable Potties with wash stations with ample soap and water and towels. We didn't eat there because we already had dinner, but the great smells will make you think about having a little somethin, somethin. There is plenty of free parking and it's a free Festival. It is a wonderful family night out. Remember it's held one week before the Fourth of July. read more

New to the area from TX and went to a festival and oldies show at the ampitheatre what a great place no matter where you set the huge screens provided great viewing. Very impressed. So fun. read more
