Discovered Rossini's upon moving to the area about a year ago. I was trying to find a pizza place in the area to "replace" my beloved pizza place that has since closed in West Hartford. While my old favorite place was Greek style pizza, I have quickly fallen in love with the Italian style pizza offered by Rossini's. I have tried the cheese, pepperoni & sausage pizzas for the "typical pie flavor" but have also experienced the shrimp, buffalo, & BBQ specialty pizzas. In the yeast-deprived central area of Middlesex county, Rossini's is a venerable and well-appreciated outpost. Unlike most of the pizza shops in the area, Rossini's makes their own dough and produces a fair reproduction of good NY-style pizza. They also make their own bread which is available for purchase. I have dined in many times. Entrees are typical NY Italian red-sauce interpretations. I wouldn't go here for, say, Risotto Milanese (not on the menu), but I surely would for Manicotti, or Chicken Parm! The place is casual, clean and the waitstaff is friendly and timely. read more

I asked a friend what her favorite pizza place in the state of CT was, and she told me to come here, hands down. Even told me what to order. Pizza with red sauce and sprinkled Parmesan, nothing else. I was skeptical - I love cheese. And garlic. And vegetables. She said to trust her, and to just stick with the plain red pizza, because it's the best sauce in the entire world and it doesn't need anything else. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I could smell the pizza. It was absolutely amazing. I don't even know how to describe it. But if you ever need an olfactory pick-me-up, this is the parking lot to visit. So I ordered my pizza selection as dictated by my friend. And...she was right. That sauce is SO good. Tastes as heavenly as it smells. It really didn't need anything else. It's thin crust pizza, and honestly the crust is harder than I prefer it. That's my only complaint. The service was great and everyone was really friendly. One of the staff members advised me to be careful on my way out, as my shoe was untied - it's nice that he was paying attention! Of course I had leftovers, and the sauce was just as good over the next couple days as it was when the pizza was served fresh. So I'd definitely recommend a trip if you appreciate sauce, although just be aware of the hard crust. I know that can sometimes make or break a pizza. Solution? My review is based solely on the pizza & service. So good! We've ordered a few different types of pizza from Rossini's and while they're all very, very good, we always come back to their basic pepperoni & meatball and their chicken pesto w/sliced tomato. OMG! The pizzas are huge, and the sauce is delicious. The meatball is delicious - very flavorful. The chicken pesto is never dry, as pizzas w/chicken can be. Every time we go in to pick up our order, the staff is courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is upbeat. Rossini's will continue to be our go-to when we want a really good quality pizza. read more

Overall the pizza is okay, but not I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I have their chicken pesto pizza, which was a thin crust, light cheese pizza. The whole sliced tomatoes were a nice addition. The pesto sauce does not have a strong flavor. The second pizza I had was a pesto pizza and again the pesto was not strong and the cheese was over cooked. It didn't reheat well, either. The timing for pick up was a 40 minute wait on a Friday. I asked if wheat crust was available and my question was met with a puzzled, "I don't know what you mean". We live in East Hampton and get Rossini's on a regular basis. My husband grew up in this town and is very familar with them. Their pizza is seriously THE BEST, in my opinion. Thin crust, delicious sauce, perfect amount of cheese (not too much or too little) and always fresh toppings. My personal favorite is pepperoni, but I also love their Hawaiin, or a nice bacon and onion. My husband and some of his family have had the white pizzas, and rave about those as well. I've also had their eggplant parm dinner with ziti and salad, as well as some of the grinders (meatball and cheese w/onions, Tony's combo, etc) and I have enjoyed every meal. For East Hampton residents, there are several nearby options for Italian food, though I think you'd find that most would pick Rossini's as their go-to pizza joint. It's been there for over 20 years now. This popularity however, can be reflected in how busy they get, and sometimes they seem disorganized in the kitchen, causing longer than projected wait times and order screw-ups. I don't mind waiting 45 minutes for an order, but when I show up 45 minutes later, I don't want to wait another 10 for you to put the salad together. There have been a couple of times where they forgot something in the order, and I've had to go back across town Their pizza is quite good. It's basically NY style, thin-crust with fresh toppings. They offer some specialty pizzas and otherwise have a good variety of topping to choose from. Their stuffed breads are also delicious. The pasta meals, salads and apps, at least the ones I've tried have been just OK. Nothing special. It's been a long time since I've actually eaten-in here, usually opting for take-out since it's close to home, so I can't really speak to the service other than at the counter which is pleasant, but hurried. So, overall, I think Rossini's is far from a five-star restaurant. You people all need to get out (of East Hampton) more. And the people who gave it one star are probably just having a bad day. It's an average Italian restaurant with better than average pizza. Though, if you're willing to drive the extra few miles, I'd say Three Fellas' pizza in Marlboro is a better pie. read more

Stopped in today to grab some pizza. While getting ready to order we also saw that the place also had chicken wings so we ordered the hot wings as well as a meatball and onion pizza. The wings where fantastic, a ton of sauce, hot but not overly spicy and very meaty, overall a good choice. The blue cheese was great and had large chunks of blue cheese in the cup. The pizza was a whole different experience. East Hampton doesn't have many good pizza places but this one is fantastic. The small pizza is the size of a medium in most other places. The crust was crunchy yet not overly crunchy. It was a cross between a New Haven style and a NY style. The sauce was great and the toppings were excellent, not overly greasy and no flop. The food that other tables ordered also looked great. Overall this was a great experience and we will return. read more

Any true Italian will tell you, oregano is a pizza spice, it does not belong in Marinara, just basil ,garlic ,olive oil ,and black pepper. I tried this place for the first time and let me tell you the soup was microwaved no way it gets that Hot in a pan. The ala vodka was literally pasta in soup, the baby clams and pasta had no flavor. The only good thing we experienced was the garlic cheese bread & the cannoli which was bought from a store. The owner was a complete jerk when I asked to speak to him. Our waitress was rude and took forever to get our drinks and our beer. Overall I will NEVER go to this place again such a waste of money. So we normally order takeout when we hit up Rossini's. Tonight we decided to eat in. Unfortunately we were severely disappointed. We were seated promptly and took our order just as quick but man did it take forever for our pizza to arrive. Let me just say that the pizza is good, really good actually and my favorite in town, but it took over 50 minutes before our food was served. I get that Friday nights are busy but 50 minutes is crazy, especially with 2 young kids. The worst part is the server didn't even come to acknowledge us until 8 minutes before to let is know the kitchen was busy. To their credit they did try to make up for it by giving us some garlic bread. I'm sure we will try again but we were disappointed on our first eat in experience. read more

We are a fan of this place. We moved back to the area this week and looked forward to getting some Rossini's take out. We ordered from here twice since moving back. Both of our orders have been for grinders and pizzas. Everything has been delicious. Their grinder rolls are delicious and fresh, which makes me think they make their own bread here. The pizza is also pretty good. (We moved here from NY, so we are very picky about our pizza). We tried a cheese pizza and a buffalo chicken pizza. Both were very good. It's think crust style and the sauce is tasty. The buffalo chicken is very spicy, which I like. It could use some blue cheese or ranch drizzle, though. When picking up our orders to go, the staff have been so friendly and our orders are always ready when we get there. This will definitely be a staple for us. read more

Ventured (way) out here shortly after sampling a slice at a gathering after being much impressed and taken aback by what was revealed as Rossini's, which seems to be out in the woods for anyone non-local to know about. Rossini's yearns to be on the thinner crust spectrum yet a visit on a busy Saturday night's take-out left thinking this wasn't the same Rossini's of East Hampton. What should have been crispy, airy and light from a first bite of weeks past resulted in just the opposite. Went for the same pie that impressed: a garlic/ricotta/broccoli white pie. Sadly, each slice was soured by excess and gross levels of cheese. What usually ends up being a satisfying 4 to 5 slice session could only be had with 2 before calling it quits. Without overgeneralizing what people in this neck of the woods would consider king, more is not better. The featured ricotta was piled on so hard the pizza felt like it weighed a ton upon carry out. Dough was very heavy and packed, not as airy as it should have. Spent a good portion scooping excess ricotta into a shredded cheese tub, resulting in 4 to 5 inches of excess. This was after a request to go light on cheese... Given to the right chef, this pizza could be much more with a promising crisp in the crust and overall rustic bread quality. A second visit could happen but the scare of getting another hefty pie forebodes. Parking lot mimics the roving hills of an Italian countryside without any of the mystique and splendor. Closest thing to NY style pizza in Middlesex County. I have been here for both lunch and dinner. Portions are large (chicken parm, baked ziti, linguini with clam sauce, etc). This is easily the best restaurant in East Hampton, anyone who lives in East Hampton knows the choices are limited but they are alright. My boyfriend and I usually get dinners there, they are good, but portions are small. My boyfriend always gets the ravioli, every time he gets exactly seven ravioli, kind of stingy with no meat sauce or meatballs. I got the squash ravioli once, at $17.95 it was pathetic, no squash flavor, I swore it was just cheese. Their pizza is so good and their calzones are enough to feed a family of four. I get their broccoli/chicken pizza and its delicious. BF likes their ham grinders and like I said choices in East Hampton are limited, but overall they are a good restaurant. read more
