The Plainfield store renewed my faith in Ross. I'm not a fan of the Hillside or Aurora stores. Aurora is very close to home for me, but the Plainfield store is so much better than I'd make the drive to shop here again. I went here with no real mission, but I left with some great purchases. I purchased a black and tan BCBG tote for $30. The "leather" is butter soft and perfect for all of the junk I tote with me to work. Area rugs are a steal here! I found a white, 5x7 rug with a white and gray Moroccan lattice print for only $50. Other 5x7 rugs I liked at other stores were at least $200. Like other stores, the variety is smaller, but sufficient. Other treasures in the store I didn't buy included a Tahari sheath dress, Dolce & Gabbana perfume for $40, and a very good selection of baby clothes. I didn't pay much attention to the clothing, but the home decor is worth a return trip. read more

Their operating hours on Yelp are incorrect. Quite the nuisance when you show up and have to wait 30 to get in. Men's clothing is only semi-organized, so after 30 minutes I gave up looking and left. Won't be back. read more

What happened to the Plainfield Ross Store? It was once so organized and the employees professional, now they talk over you to coworkers about other employees and customers! The store is a mess!! Wow, this lady (Muni) just yelled at us for asking questions about their return policy. We did a few returns, but when one item didn't have the "Ross" tag (fell off at register during purchase earlier that day) the person in charge was saying item needed Ross tag (retail tag was still attached). Absolutely horrible experience. Lady was making crazy accusations of stuff, straight up lies. Felt very uncomfortable getting yelled at just for asking a question about why they weren't abiding by policy clearly stated on back of receipt. We had receipt and item still had the manufactures retail tag attached. I know other retail stores and employees would not treat a customer this way, especially for a $8.99 return!! I recently visited Ross with my wife to shop for a dress. it was around 6:30 so it was not close to closing time. We noticed that all the dressing rooms were closed. When we asked Pam the manager if we could use one of the rooms she said no. When we asked why, she stated that there were short handed and they were doing inventory. Mind you, we have been at this location before and the dressing rooms are never supervised. She proceeded to tell us that "that's the way it is" and call corporate if we did not like it, which I did. After we purchased several items, she was the cashier, and was still rude where she wouldn't hand me the the receipt and pointed at it for me to get it from the printer. Lies. It says open at 9 but the door says 930. 30 mins is A LONG time when shopping with a toddler.

I bought a shower Caddy right before Christmas. When I went to put it together, there were several pieces missing including a long rod. Which tells me this must of been a return that was put back on the shelf. When I went to return it, the Manager Salwa, Told me they had to take 5.99 off the return price because it's been marked down! Mind you I bought the last one in the store and paid 15.99 for it! I asked how it was marked down when I bought the last one and there have been no other since, and she just shrugged her shoulders! I asked if I could exchange for the same price I paid for something else and she said No! That is absolutely terrible that this place is out here scamming people like that! I shop here often but trust me when I say I won't set foot in this store ever again unless they make this right! read more

I've been in several Ross stores that I had to walk right back out of because it has a thrift store smell, that's really the only way to explain the smell. However this location doesn't have that smell and I've visited the store several times since the grand opening and I also find that Chris has a wonderful attitude. He makes my shopping experience and check out such an enjoyable experience. On another note I did notice that compared to other Ross stores that I've been in this store does appear to have slightly higher prices. read more

This store was Bare! Rows and rows of emptiness. Maybe 15 pairs of shoes in each size. Do they not have the budget to stock the store? Did they buy a place way too big? Not cool. Very disappointed. I usually spend 300$ or more during each trip to Ross. This one lost that chance! Bummer. read more

Quite possibly the worst Ross around! Always bare and empty! No houseware great finds here. They need to close this and put in a Marshall's!

I went here shitty after their grand opening to see if I could find some clothes for my two daughters. Forget it! They hardly had any thing in stock. Only been to the one in Lawrenceville., NJ. But was pleasantly surprised at the prices, especially since they had a lot of stock, including many petite dresses that are hard to find. They just about give it away. Atmosphere kind of warehouse like, but the staff could not have been nicer. Just wish there was one closer--they are few and far between. Actually went to Mercer Mall for the Nordstrom Rack, which was a massive disappointment, everything seemed ancient, But found this great alternative. read more

I was disappointed with the store. I was there for the Grand Opening. I thought it would be much nicer than it was. They had a raffle and gave away free Ross bags. There was not enough merchandise. There was not a big selection of shoes, jewelry, tops. Very disappointing. I will go to the Ross near Chicago which has way more merchandise and a great selection and variety. Terrible! The store was clean, but it was a mess. I went there to look for kids clothes and they literally had less then ten items in size girls 7/8. Same for girls' size 6. How does such a big store have no inventory? Also, not one staff member acknowledged I was there. read more
