During my trip to this location of Ross last weekend, I was able to find 3 amazing summer dresses that fit me perfectly, and I wore 2 of them during my trip in Chesapeake. I also found a pair of white Reebok sneakers to wear with one of the dresses. They looked so chic! I do wish the aisles to get to the shirts and jeans in the ladies' area were a bit wider. I wasn't able to shop them this time because people were already taking up each entire row and I wasn't able to navigate them. I like this store because I can always find a good deal! It's a bit of a hit and miss sometimes but usually I can find great shoes and clothes for my kid and myself. They have beauty supplies, dog toys, kid toys, home accessories you name it. I can only come here when I have time to waste because searching for the things I need can take a long time is this store. Currently they have a slim pickings for luggage, I am assuming because of our current global situation. The only reason for 2 stars is because the store is visibly dirty, staff is not friendly, if you want to find any type of clothing you have to search amongst jam packed rows of clothing and there really isn't enough space between isles for any type of social distancing. Bathrooms are dirty, the line is always long to pay so expect to stand in line 10-15 minutes during a week day. I most likely won't return to this store. read more

There are great finds here at Ross if you are patient enough to go through the inventory of clothes; because people move the items around and tuck their chosen pieces in various places so they either can come back for them; or they were just leaving them behind like a treasure hunt. I always go to the clearance sections - sometimes you can find a BCBG Maxaria dress with MSRP of $228 marked down to $12! Where can you find such a great deal? Or House of Harlow jacket so buttery soft. I know you all think - they're all the same - Ross, Marshall's and TJMaxx and that Ross may be of mediocre relative to TJMaxx. You'd be surprised when not a lot of hands have touched the inventory, they come out to be better buys! Oh and returns- lightning fast! read more

There's some great deals here, so I was excited when I found some gems in the cookware section. However I later went home to open up the boxes and found the items to be defective. This is probably why they were so cheap. I bought an olive oil/vinegar bottle set which looked beautiful on the picture on the box however, when I opened it, the glass bottles were deformed . Like the glass maker made a mistake in the model. The pot I bought was missing a handle on one side, just terrible. Beware of these deals, I would suggest opening up the boxes in the store to make sure everything is right before you actually purchase them. read more

My visit centered around finding a prom dress for my oldest daughter. The store is really a solid 3.5-4. Plenty of parking, fairly clean interior, and gender specific restrooms onsite. Employee at front registered greeted us warmly! When I replied "hi there," my daughters gave me the scornful "Daaaad!" Inventory was well-stocked and way more organized than other similar discount stores, including the Ross in Norfolk (Military Circle). Surprisingly spacious where you're not on top of other customers in most departments. There are deals to be had if you have time to sort through stock AND keep a mental list of OTHER family clothing/home good needs. We struck out on Daddy + Daughter(s) shopping but did score some very cheap shorts and dress shirt for my oldest son. read more

This store by far is the worst of the worst as I got hurt in their store on 08/17/24 due to a slip and fall. I have not heard from anyone at corporate or the higher level regarding my slip and fall much less the injuries that I sustained as a result of the fall. To add insult to injury I was contacted by a claims representative who offered me $1500 only. My medical bills were over $5K yet I was informed that Ross does not pay for medical bills so if this is the case then why were my medical bills needed? Yes, my insurance covered everything at 100 percent so I am still due and owed this money no matter what. The claims representative told me that she was not in a position to offer me anything higher so I asked her to refer me to someone who is and she stated that she did not have this information. I told her that she also needed to add another $0 to this offer. She only offered me $700 for the four days that I missed from work as well as another seven-something for pain and suffering. I asked her how she could put a price tag on my pain and suffering when I am going to have problems with my right driving knee for the rest of my life as a result of this fall and the injuries that I sustained due to Ross's negligence. I am beyond pissed off and upset by this and I pray that someone from corporate gets in contact with me sooner rather than later for their sake because if this case goes to court Ross is going to be paying out more than $1500. read more

I was so disappointed with my visit there today that I had to come home and get my MacBook Pro out to submit a review. I purchased a pair of pants for my son and when I went to return it the following day I didn't have my receipt but I had the charge card so I asked if they could look it up that way like they'd done at Sam's Club earlier. They said, No" and the line was long so I returned today. The lady working near the door asked if I had a return or exchange and suggested I check for a replacement item so I did. When I got to the register I was greeted by a rude cashier and she was very adamant and unconcerned that the item I was returning which was clearly marked $14.99 now costs exactly One dollar and five cents! I looked at her because I'd never heard of anything like that being legal in all my travels as a U.S. Marine who's been all over this country and other countries. The store was very messy, and didn't look clean but most of all I felt like I'd been robbed. I do not recommend this place to anyone and hope never to return. Another customer listening seemed shocked and angered for me...recommending that I contact the corporate location to seek a resolution. read more

I'm here currently and I have been waiting in this line that's wrapped around and down the main isle for over 30mins already there are only 2 cashiers which isn't the issue I'm driving my very pregnant high risk friend who shouldn't be standing that long and there's another lady who's elderly and moving slowly i assisted her with her holding her returns while we're waiting I went to seek out help I talked to two employees whining me They were not able to assist with the register and I should find the manager Jessica I found Ms. Jessica in the fitting rooms to ask for assistance at least just to do the return portion and she was very dismissive her only reply was. That's all the help she has until 2pm not that she would take control of register to at least lower the line which by the time I returned was down the aisle almost to the fitting room (where the dresses were to be exact) which is almost to the back of the store. This was very unprofessional and expected way more of Ross establishments especially since I go to Ross a lot in every place I'm at. This was my first time since being back here in VA on vacation to help out my friend and was an absolutely terrible experience. The two young ladies on register were nice and moved as quickly as they could but the line grew more and more with no one to help them and manager just sitting there was insane. Easily could've put one of the ladies I spoke to on the floor that said they weren't trained to man the fitness room or close it for 10-15 minutes for that matter until front line was tamed better. A lot of elderly people were in this line which concerned me the most I stood for my friend eventually when we realized no one was coming but all the others who had to wait and the manager giving a nasty attitude when asked did she know what was going on in the front of the store was very very disturbing. Be patient! It's difficult to find that hidden gem, it is also very rare. Many moons ago when I first discovered Ross I said "Ross, where have you been all my life?" OMG...how you can not love ROSS??? I mean if you love clothes and don't care to pay big bucks (over $100) for them, but you still get the same quality, then ROSS is where you need to shop. On my recent visit here last Sunday, I found a beautiful "Laundry" brand dress regularly $89 for $39.99. And if fits like a glove :) This store has definitely come a long way as far as quality, design, structure, and availability of items/sizes. The store offers: clothes and shoes for everyone. Departments include: home, garden, handbag and luggage sections. Alongside, a few novelty sections as well. This is a store that you want to visit everyday, but if time does not permit, at least two times a week. The deals and finds are just that great IMO! Inventory arrives at least twice a week. The checkout line move swiftly and the store hours are fantastic. While most malls open at 10am and close at 9pm, ROSS opens as early as 8:30am and closes as late as 11pm. Definitely call the store to confirm store hours. As a result, if you are looking for great finds for any occasion definitely do not sleep on ROSS!! It is the truth. Ugh - this location was just not doing it for me. It's dirty and has absolutely no "curb appeal" when walking through shopping for items or clothes. Everything seems to just be laid out with little care in the section that is assigned to it. Also much of the items were visibly damaged. I realize it's a discount store but if an item is actually damaged it shouldn't be fore sale.... unless I'm misunderstanding discount stores like TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshall's.... I don't think so. I buy my shampoos, and lotions, beauty supplies here as well. They sell my shoe size which is a 5. Ross sells name brand clothes for so much cheaper! This is one of the better Ross' in the area. My favorite is the Virginia Beach location and this one is second. So the selection can be hit or miss, but keep in mind, they put out new stuff everyday. I've found a TON of bargains on name brands here (think Calvin Kline, Shelby Palmer, Adrienne V., Ralph Lauren, Kors and on and on) that simply cannot be beat. There have been times that I have been at Macy's and have seen the EXACT SAME ITEM across the street at Ross. I love the dress section, home items and the SHOES. They also have a good selection of unique snacks. When it comes to customer service, that can be questionable, but this isn't a department store, so to some degree you need to be able to assist yourself! read more

I don't really shop here as often, but I usually only come here during the summer and spring time to find summer dresses for great prices especially for name brand items. They have an area for women's which is divided into sections, a men's area, kids area, shoe area, bags area, home decor area, etc. The aisles are spacious, not as organized, but enough to still shop around. Dressing rooms have a limit of 8. I've purchased quite a few dresses and suits from here 40-60% less compared to department store prices. I also found a Wacoal bra for only $8.99! My size is quite difficult to find and I was very pleased that they carried it. That was definitely a surprise. Ross is not the neatest or most organized store. You have to dig through items that may be bunched together which make it difficult and more challenging to search. Their set up is very similar to TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I believe they all fall under the same corporation but Ross has the lowest prices. Always check Ross before you go anywhere else. You will more than likely find the same items for less. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been there before and are looking for a good deal. Just make sure you are in a good mood and have the patience to hunt through the items, otherwise you may get frustrated and leave. I was trying to purchase some books, and the attendants were to busy socializing rather than expediting through checkout. One of them was on her break, but she was at the counter...? You'll even see other things from bottles, sippy cups, diaper bags, playgym, etc. for less compared to other Big Department Stores. MEN: I've found dress shirts and name brand (Nike, Adidas, Calvin Klien, etc) stuff here for my dad for such a great price, and he doesn't even need to know that I bought it from Ross because it looks pricey and decent looking. So much more to look at too, just gotta be patient and look around because you just might see something rare that you just need to get type of thing. Just called the Greenbrier store to find out their hours for today. Since today is Labor Day, I figured the store may be closed or be open for only part of the day. The woman who answered the phone was apparently annoyed by my question. She was beyond rude stating, "We open now, don't know when we close!" So disappointing. Went here to return a picture that was still in it's original wrap, within the 30 day time frame and was told they couldn't credit my card because they did some kind of update on their system a week ago and that I would have to drive to the Norfolk store. The only thing they could do was give me a paper voucher which will force me to make another purchase. I feel like it was up to them to honor their return and not make me drive quite a distance. I settled for a voucher because I didn't want to make the drive. The cashier was lovely, the manager could have done a better job helping his customer out and doing the right thing. I like going to this Ross as it's in a great location and always has an assortment of items. The location is ideal due to it being g next to other discount stores and also being across the street from the mall. The store is always clean and well organized whenever I visit. The aisle are also pretty wide so there's not a lot of bumping into other patrons. Everything thing is pretty easy to find and in plain sight. There isn't a lot of stuff on the top shelves which is convenient. The fitting rooms are well attended with the occasional leftover items but never messy. They're also pretty spacious depending on which one you chose. The staff is helpful and have a positive attitude. They're always available and willing to answer questions. The purchasing and returns process is pretty simple along with having to get something unlocked if need be. Out of all the three discount stores I would shop mainly at Ross. read more
