I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jose, who just recently joined this group. My wife and I…read morefollowed him from his last practice. Why; I don't know. The front reception area is terrible. 4-5 receptionists at the front desk, and they are all on their computers doing whatever or b.. s.....g with each other while completely ignoring you. The patient signs in and waits and waits until receptionist decides to look at sign-in sheet. Then patient waits some more: no greeting, no nothing. They are rude and unobliging. Put these receptionists and their computers in the back and get people at front desk that will greet and sign in patients. I stood in front of desk today for almost 10 minutes as two receptionists BS'd with someone about the weather, and the others were on computers, before one of them looked at me. This is not a onetime thing. Dr. Jose did my cataract surgery last year, and I've had several visits since. It's always the same. Expect each visit to last 1 1/2 hours. Mostly waiting.

This place has been great for our eye care needs and we have utilized it the entire 12 years we…read morehave resided in Park Ridge. The man that really makes this very popular office what it is is Dr John Moy, a renowned cataract specialist. There are of course other competent doctors here but a few have come and gone. There are also a bunch of technician staff helping out with various eye health tests. This place is far from perfect though as the waits are usually long, and that's the only reason for the 1 star knock. It's not that they are slow, there are just a lot of patients per doctor due to demand for their good services. We always try to get early morning appointments and they usually have to be done 6 months and even a year in advance. Dr Moy is one of those doctors who is booked for the whole year if you're not already a patient. If there is some test that may not be covered by insurance (and there are only two that we have encountered), the staff always gives us a headsup first. Anyway, we are very happy with our eye health care here and the other doctors on staff we have seen are Dr Indre Rudaitis and Dr Kaushik Annam, a glaucoma specialist.

They must have had different people working here in the past because I had a great experience here…read more I was able to make an appointment online and received a phone call the next day confirming my appointment. I also had a reminder phone call the day before I was scheduled to come in confirming the appointment and reminding me to bring insurance card and to wear a mask. The woman at the front desk was very pleasant and the doctor was great (and the exam only went around 30 minutes!). The only negative I can say about the place is they don't have a HUGE selection/types of glasses like other places do. The woman that helped me when paying for my glasses was very informative and upfront about what I was being charged for. I went with the 12 month warranty for $30 which replaces my glasses or lenses if they break or scratch! I will definitely be back for my vision needs.

there are some simple things this place could do to make the customer experience less frustrating…read moreand irritating. 1) you sent me a "digital form" to fill out a bunch of eye/medical history in advance, to save me the time of coming early to fill out a hard copy. great. however, the digital form's NOT a digital form you can fill out online and submit. it's a PDF that you can't click into at all. i had to download it, open up adobe reader and create my own text fields for every one of the 50+ fields. that's annoying and if someone doesn't have adobe reader, they won't be able to do this. anyway - so i fill this out the only way it can be filled out. then i'm left to wonder, will replying to this reminder with the attachment work? the email said yes, reply to this. so i did. but i doubted it would work. so i came in 30 min early just in case, taking off of work even earlier, and getting childcare set up. i get there, and sure enough, no we didn't get it. ok - so then how is anyone supposed to sign in early the way you've set it up? it is not possible. now i'm standing at the front desk, answering questions in front of a staff of 5-6 people about my medical history out loud to the receptionist? that's not good. that shouldn't happen. 2) put yourselves in your patients' shoes. remind people their exam will require them to get their eyes dilated and to factor that into how they get home. especially at night. a simple reminder in your not-helpful "reminder/pre-registration" email would be helpful. people might want to plan ahead if driving home in the dark with dilated eyes proves challenging. 3) tell your doctor to work on his bedside manner. i came in accidentally with an old sample of contacts and he asked me questions about my contact changing regimen. great questions, helped me realize i should be subbing in solution and new contacts more regularly -- good reminder. i'm there for that. however, when asked if i knew the strength of the over the counter readers i've been using (bought by my wife), i said i wasn't sure. his response - a barely concealed scoff - i thought you'd say that. treat your patients, who are not thinking of their eye health 100% of the time like you might be, with more respect. 4) staff was friendly - but like the first time i came here (i showed up after waiting a month for an appointment only to find out the doctor had a conflict - they'd tried calling earlier in the day but i was in meetings all day so didn't get it), half the folks there seem to not really know what they're doing - in a constant state of training (same thing happened with same people 4 months earlier). i asked myself, is this how it normally is, am i being too harsh and thought back to every one experience i've had at optical centers, etc and the answer was no. this is strange. unprofessional. not good. i never leave bad reviews for things - live and let live, everyone has bad days. but come on. if you can't make your visitors' life easier at least don't make it harder. thanks.

Don't believe the old reviews since this Skokie office has leveled up!…read moreI almost let the older Yelp reviews scare me away, but I'm so glad I didn't. My experience was the polar opposite of the negative posts. The office is incredibly organized. I noticed a large, coordinated team at the front desk where some may have been brought in from other locations to ensure everything runs smoothly. It's obvious they've stepped up their service and fixed most of the issue from the past. They have high end eye testing machines that test everything about your eye to assist in selecting a handful of lenses with the final pick by the doctor. Dr. Spektor has been absolutely terrific. There are many doctors in the office that do great work as well. One tip for future patients: come prepared! This office is thorough. You'll work with a specialist for upfront testing to provide the doctor with the best data possible. I think some past reviewers weren't prepared for that level of detail, but if you do your part and provide your background info, the care is top-notch. Come in with a handful of quality questions. Please note that you may need to wait since there are many people that do to the office. You will see the doctors are working hard and not just waiting around. I am highly satisfied with my results so far. If you want a professional, clean, and quality care, ignore the old noise and book an appointment here!

Dr. Tatyana Spektor was seen at the Skokie location for a full comprehensive eye check up and prescription. FYI it was NOT our first time seeing an Ophthalmologist ! The prescription and the results of the refractions were ALL incorrect and inaccurate. Speaking to the office they wanted us to come back and see another in their practice!--- No thank you! Went to another reputable Ophthalmology practice and confirmed Dr. Spektor's nonsense prescription as well as what we have as records from previous years! The supposed practice manager: Cynthia Stevens either is never available to speak and perpetually in a "meeting" or will not respond to call/emails/fax of documents! Will be requiring a refund of all fees paid to this subpar ophthalmology practice!
