She explained my particular retina issue in great detail and upon my departure, provided a pamphlet that further detailed Macular Pucker. While I can only speak regarding the specific physician who saw us during our appointment, her behavior was entirely unprofessional. During the appointment, the doctor was extremely rude and condescending while explaining the patient's eyesight condition. I was shocked by her lack of empathy and her mean-spirited tone. At one point, she even stated, "Why are you here? We are not going to treat your eye condition." We were well aware of the situation, but were attending the clinic for a necessary yearly visit. Furthermore, throughout our visit, the doctor was pacing from room to room while yelling at her staff, which created a very uncomfortable environment. Due to this experience, we will never return to this clinic, nor will we refer anyone else to your practice. I believe it is important for you to be aware of how patients are being treated. I had a referral from my ophthalmologist to see "Dr K" for evaluation and treatment of retinal edema. I would have preferred to go to the hospital based treatment but my Dr. got mad. Well Dr K said I had I had a stroke and must drive to the nearest Emergency Room. My eyes were still dilated and the road wasn't easy to see. Eventually and carefully made it home taking 2 roads and called an ambulance . By the grace of God, I made to the hospital safely where I am now. I had contacted the clinic and reported the situation. "Dr K" called me with a sickeningly sweet apology. read more

I've been coming here for 7+ years and customer service is great, nice ladies that even let me in when it was closed so I can pay a bill, and that was nice of them to do. But for the most part all the ladies that works in this department and the retina dr are very professional, and always explains to the very best way that I can understand what's going on with my eyes. But if I didn't like a place I would address it to there boss to fix an issue but I like everyone in this department.!!! read more

It was very traumatic when I learned that I had to have shots in my eyes, but Dr Chee & the staff at Retina have been compassionate & gentle helping me to relax & educating me thru the process. This is my second year & I highly recommend this practice & Dr. Chee! read more

The worst customer service and experience. Very unprofessional at the office and over the phone. My mom went to the office a year ago and they wanted to set up an appointment a year in advance. My mother NEVER makes appointments that far in advance, anyway long story short she gets a bill for $50 for a NO SHOW. When I called to explain they never called my mom for a reminder a year in advance. The lady on the phone, very unprofessional and rude said to me actually we reached out to her on this day, this day and this way. We left voicemails as well. TURNS OUT they us an A.I system, my mom is old and foreign. We tried to explain that they shouldn't use an A.I. system (especially for older people with the amount of fraud that is going around) and that my mom didn't even set up the appointment a year ago. Anyway, lady said the bill is valid and they cant make exceptions even if its a one off. read more

Dr. Preeti Poley has damaged my eye, while giving a shot she put a bunch of air bubbles inside my eye. My face was swollen for over a week, I was in huge pain for a whole month. Even right after the shot, she denied any wrong doing and after I said I can see dark circles floating inside my eye all of a sudden, she admitted and said they will diddipate within a day. It took all week, I couldn't drive and was in pain. The other doctors are competent but I wouldn't recommend her to an enemy! read more

After requesting a new doctor because I was treated so poorly by Dr. Blair, Dr. Shapiro was the complete opposite! He was kind, gentle , and explained everything he was doing. He used a Q-tip for for long as he could because it was more gentle, explained that my eye should be getting tired because of what he was doing and drew a picture of my eye for my file to have something to compare it to in 6 months. I would go back to Dr. Shapiro in an instant. Thank goodness I gave another doctor a try because the rest of the office is great. read more

I highly recommend the Retina Institute of IL for many reason. First, when I arrived at the office I only had to wait about 5 minutes before being called in for my appointment. I have been at this Retina Institute twice before three year ago and it was the same thing. I got in right away. This is so important to me because I work long hours and don't have time to waste. Second, once I got into the examination room I felt they did a very thorough exam on both of my eyes (even though only one of them was having flashing). I felt this was also important because they were able to compare and get a clear picture of what was going on with my eye. After the examination, Dr Rao sat and explained to me with a very clear illustration exactly what was going on with my eye. Which put me in complete peace and confidence that my eye was going to be okay. read more

The eye specialists at Retina Institute are outstanding in many respects. I have seen both Dr. Rao and Dr. Goldberg for a potentially serious eye problem. I have been educated regarding the type of eye problem (floaters) that I developed suddenly: why they occur, serious possible complications, and precautions to prevent further complications. While the problem I have is common and information is available on the internet, I had no way of knowing that these "floaters" can potentially lead to retinal detachment and that this serious condition can be avoided by knowing what the symptoms are and a comprehensive examination. This is thanks to these 2 outstanding practitioners. Getting an appointment was a simple phone call away. read more

This is the first time I have ever left a negative comment but I feel that I have too. I just left Retina Institute of Illinois and I can honestly say that I would never recommend this office to anyone. My appointment was at 9:30 and I signed in at 9:15. The receptionist was on the phone and we could all hear her say how busy she was and that she was alone. She seemed very overwhelmed. At 10:00 I went to her and asked her if I needed to give her my medical card or just wanted her to know I was still there. She told me "there are only 2 people back there and they are busy, they will get to you." Shortly after that a gentleman in a wheel chair came into the office and while trying to move to the side, fell out of his chair with much trouble to try and get up. At no time did anyone in the office try to help this individual. The receptionist stood up, looked at the gentleman and sat back down. At 10:30 I walked out of the office knowing that there was still 2 people ahead of me. Who treats people like this? read more

I was referred to the Retina Institute to further checkout a concern my optometrist had. Dr Wessel put me at ease that my eyes were fine, just aging as they are to do. I have had a couple of appointments with Dr. Wessel and each visit was pleasant, educational, comfortable and gave me clarity to the importance to good eye health and having them looked at as a part of my over all health maintenance. I highly recommend getting an appointment here. The staff is courteous, efficient and made me comfortable. I appreciated the early appointment, as it did not imped the rest of my day. They work well with what works best for the patient. read more
