Ohio does get sun, 8-10 hours of it, May through August with July and August lingering in the high 80's, commonly into the 90's. And humidity. My 2 and 4 year old Miami, FL grandchildren were too hot to play, as was some of the equipment, so we left after 15 minutes. They go to a shaded playground in Miami every single day.

There is very little green in the park anymore, which is unfortunate because it was really pretty. I am assuming that they are redoing the grass for the fields and the construction stopped during the outbreak. There are 4 tennis courts here and it is a pretty nice place to walk around. There are also softball/baseball fields and some basketball hoops, so there is a wide variety of sports that you can play while you are here. There is a well-paved sidewalk around the perimeter of the fields that is nice to jog through. It isn't my favorite park mostly because it is geared towards children to be able to play their respective sports, but if that is for you then this is a good park to get some practice in!

Francis RecreAcres doesn't have tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, or ponds like some of the other area parks. Instead, the Hamilton County Park District member has six soccer fields, six sand volleyball courts (not sure if people play on these much), a paved one-mile walking/jogging trail, a decent-size playground/area, and also a snack bar that's open during soccer games. One thing I noticed when I stopped by around lunch time was that there were many cars scattered around the parking lot. While a few people were out and about on the walking path, and some kids were riding their bikes and hanging with a babysitter, several of the people were sitting in their car perhaps eating or just relaxing during a lunch break from work. It's surely a nice place to relax and get away from the daily grind of work, but I bet it would be a bit better if you actually left your car. Overall, Francis RecreAcres is a good park considering the things it doesn't offer. The soccer fields are in great shape though and the play area is good too, plus they have benches and grills if you want to bring the fam over for a little picnic. It's in a pretty good location too, as it is just inside Sharonville near Stewart Elementary (Princeton City Schools) and less than a half-mile from Kemper Road.

The playground is great. Not one of the best we've been to and kind of far away from everything else. But, if you're visiting the SPCA next door, this is a great place to stop by for the kids to run around awhile. The playground has a large structure with (I think) 5 slides. The 2 year old had no problem doing almost everything there. If we're up in this part of Cincinnati again we'll be stopping by here again.

The playground is an interesting setup that I haven't seen before - rather than doing one large playground or even two split by age ranges, this one has multiple different elements spread out across the area, ranging from more typical swing options (traditional, baby, accessible, tire), seesaws, and slides to sand play options (the digging machines were cool) and more unique jungle gym set-ups - the one had a slide that didn't appear to have any sides to it and the other offered climbing opportunities but seemingly rather challenging with large holes and spaces in it. The whole area seemed quite popular as there was quite a crowd. There is a nice paved parking lot available, including EV charging spots.

The playground along the eastern edge of Summit Park was very popular with the kids, There are135 acres (!) of greenspace, a fish-stocked (!) catch-and-release pond, and more climbers and such for older kids. The walkers and dog-owners among us liked the long network of paved paths and the dog-park area. There's a central open space apparently for concerts and such. I admit, i spent most of my time watching from outside the kids' playground, and listening to a band over the covered walkway next to the taco place, with a relaxing beverage from the nearby bar :-). Sometimes it's nice not to be in charge. None of us braved the cool-looking 9-level 153-foot observation tower because the we site said that the elevators were closed at the time. They say you can see downtown! There is also a slippery splash and play "water course" to explore which was closed, too, during our visit. They say there's ice skating in the winter. The whole experience worked for us because of the nice restaurants, bars, and ice cream shops along the north and east edges of the park. We ate twice with different groups at the Mexican taco place, and three times at the park-themed restaurant. We had coffee and drinks from the cafe / bar / bottle-store. We got ice cream twice! We didnt make it to the bakery or the diner, or the chic nail salon which could have been nice for some me-time :-).
