I'll begin by saying we love Rosebud or rather the idea of Rosebud. A place where jazz was king and when Paris accepted all those who were not accepted elsewhere. The physical atmosphere of the place is film noir. However alas at Rosebud, while one can still enjoy a superb cocktail and the ambience of a historic room, unless one knows the staff, hits a night where everyone is in a generous mood or is a regular in some way prepare to suffer le snub. Despite paying the same tres cher amount for your cocktail as your bar neighbor, you will not be granted the bar nibble. We call this the bar nibble test. No matter if you Bon soir merci or s'il vous plait in the most offhand non-obsequious manner, you will not be afforded the gratis bar nibble unless you make the cut. We've watched around us over our past few visits and it is interesting to observe. This very slight slight makes what could be a very cool, relaxing drink at the bar a little more uncomfortable than what one would imagine le jazz age to be. The attitude screams old Paris and some might enjoy it, or in trying to break through le snub. We're not always in the mood. read more
